Strangely, the one person that there seemed to be a lack of rapport with was his costar Lena Horne in the Broadway musical Jamaica, which they both did for about a year. Ricardo never spoke ill of her, though she wrote that he had a hard time "finding her feminine" in her book that she wrote in the 60s with Richard Schickel.

Both were known as consummate professionals and they did their jobs, and of course in the 1950s a hit Broadway show was really something to have, but you can see it in the photos from the show that they rarely seem to engage with each other or look at each other, even when standing side by side.

Desi was at RKO but he didn't have much of a movie career.

He and Georgina went to the same church as us, St. Victor’s in West Hollywood. Sometimes we went to Good Shepherd in Beverly Hills and we saw them there as well. They always chatted with us before or after church.

Ricardo Montalban was a last minute replacement for Fernando Lamas in "Latin Lovers." Lamas was to reunite with his "Merry Widow" co-star and offscreen lover, Lana Turner, but after an acrimonious breakup, Lana demanded that he be fired from the picture.

A devout Catholic and, from what I've heard, a class act, Montalban married only once, and stayed married to Georgiana for over 60 years, until her death in 2007. Lamas, on the other hand, was a player, married four times, and romanced, not just Lana, but also her bestie, Ava Gardner.

MGM dropped his contract after just 6 years.
