What kind of Halloween candy do you like?

Full size Baby Ruths, tootsie pops and taffy were my favorite. Sweet Tarts and Skittles I can do without.

Tootsie Fruit Chews and the vanilla ones (not the original)

Tootsie Pops (the orange is my favorite)

Candy corn & Pumpkins (yes, I'm one of those that actually likes these)

Lemon Heads, Sweet Tarts & other sour candy

Red Vines minis

Kit Kat minis

by Anonymousreply 1October 11, 2022 3:33 PM

All of it.

Except candy corn.

by Anonymousreply 2October 11, 2022 3:34 PM

Smarties… I still love them

by Anonymousreply 3October 11, 2022 3:35 PM

Taffy?

by Anonymousreply 4October 11, 2022 3:36 PM

Snickers and Reeses peanut butter cups.

by Anonymousreply 5October 11, 2022 3:37 PM

When you realize tootsie rolls were invented to replace chocolate in military mess kits, their popularity in the south makes sense

by Anonymousreply 6October 11, 2022 3:37 PM

Reeses peanut butter cups, Snickers and candy corn.

by Anonymousreply 7October 11, 2022 3:37 PM

Candy cigarettes

by Anonymousreply 8October 11, 2022 3:39 PM

r4 Yea, I live in Florida. We got a lot of this stuff for halloween. Still terrific, today.

One second thought, everything with chocolate.

by Anonymousreply 10October 11, 2022 3:49 PM

Smarties, Reese's, Nerds, Peppermint Patties, 3 Musketeers in a pinch. Candy Corn are not that bad. Good N Plenty, never!

by Anonymousreply 11October 11, 2022 3:49 PM

Another for Smarties. I can eat a whole bag.

by Anonymousreply 12October 11, 2022 3:50 PM

I love candy corn.

by Anonymousreply 13October 11, 2022 3:50 PM

Anything chewy and fruity!

by Anonymousreply 14October 11, 2022 4:06 PM

I have to get my yearly fix of candy corn. I nibble on them...bite the top portion, then eat the bottom. Ok, I'm weird.

by Anonymousreply 15October 11, 2022 4:09 PM

I like the yellow layer of candy corn best.

by Anonymousreply 16October 11, 2022 4:10 PM

All the phallic-shaped confections.

by Anonymousreply 17October 11, 2022 4:11 PM

I bought packets of M&Ms for the kids this year. I love all chocolate.

by Anonymousreply 18October 11, 2022 4:13 PM

What about the very Halloweeny stuff?

YES: popcorn balls - preferably caramel, candy apples, candy corn, wax bottle soda, wax lips, Mary Janes (have to be fresh though), blow pops, candy necklaces, Cracker Jack

NO: Sweettarts, Goobers, lollipops with no pizazz,

by Anonymousreply 19October 11, 2022 4:16 PM

pixie stix 🤮🤮

Sweet Tarts are so good

by Anonymousreply 21October 11, 2022 4:20 PM

junior mints 👍. peppermint patties 👎. I think the mints are better because of the small piece size

by Anonymousreply 22October 11, 2022 4:21 PM

I really don't get trick or treaters...if I get one or two, maybe. I buy candy and end up eating it. I'm debating if I should even bother anymore. There are kids around, but they don't seem to show up.

by Anonymousreply 23October 11, 2022 4:23 PM

"YES: popcorn balls - preferably caramel, candy apples, candy corn, wax bottle soda, wax lips, Mary Janes (have to be fresh though), blow pops, candy necklaces, Cracker Jack"

Are you from the past R19?

by Anonymousreply 24October 11, 2022 4:30 PM

We were told, when I was a kid, to never eat apples given on Halloween...it could contain a razor blade.

by Anonymousreply 25October 11, 2022 4:32 PM

R24 yes I am from the past but aren't we all. It is a pity the age of home prepared halloween treats is a distant memory. As kids we liked all the prewrapped crap but we also had people in the neighborhood who prepared things we did enjoy - such aa really good candy apples - CRUNCHY - or M&M peanut butter cookies, or brownies, A really good Halloween haul needed to have weird stuff in the pillow case mixed in with all the conventional crap.

by Anonymousreply 26October 11, 2022 4:35 PM

If it was someone we knew we could take and eat anything. We knew at least a hundred neighbors in the neighborhood.

by Anonymousreply 27October 11, 2022 4:36 PM

I like blue.

by Anonymousreply 28October 11, 2022 4:37 PM

Wow I've never heard that before, R25. Why have you been keeping that a secret all these years? Seems like information other people should know.

Do "drug dealers give out drugs to kids on Halloween" next.

by Anonymousreply 29October 11, 2022 4:40 PM

Kids either do trunk-or-treat (don't hit me; I didn't invent the name) at a public place, or they drive over to the richer neighborhoods and mob the manse for some full-bar action.

by Anonymousreply 30October 11, 2022 4:41 PM

Saltwater taffy

by Anonymousreply 31October 11, 2022 4:45 PM

Fentanyl is being disguised as colorful candies. It's been on the news. The razor blade in the apple has actually happened...years ago. Now everyone go out and enjoy trick or treating!

by Anonymousreply 32October 11, 2022 4:49 PM

The razor blades in apples was debunked bullshit. Although, back in the day our local hospital would xray candy the few days after Halloween for free.

by Anonymousreply 33October 11, 2022 4:57 PM

Fentanyl is disguised as candy to get across the border.

DRUG DEALERS ARE NOT GIVING FREE DRUGS TO CHILDREN!

by Anonymousreply 34October 11, 2022 5:06 PM

Fentanyl in candy is Fox News / Russian Troll Farm chaos talking points.

by Anonymousreply 35October 11, 2022 5:06 PM

Nyet.. just say nyet.^^

by Anonymousreply 36October 11, 2022 5:09 PM

I have six boxes of full size candy bars. I'm going to Costco today and buying two more boxes. I will return any unopened boxes. I love Halloween!

by Anonymousreply 37October 11, 2022 5:10 PM

You can return CANDY? Who knew.

by Anonymousreply 38October 11, 2022 5:12 PM

Good idea. Have the candy on hand, just in case. Then return unopened. Keep the receipt.

by Anonymousreply 39October 11, 2022 5:15 PM

Costco does allow you to return food items, though they can’t resell it & have to throw it away. I learned this when my coworker tried to return yogurt because she wasn’t crazy about the taste.

by Anonymousreply 40October 11, 2022 5:43 PM

R40 Which contributes greatly to food waste.

Would make more sense to just keep the uneaten candy, and polish it off yourself.

by Anonymousreply 41October 11, 2022 5:55 PM

Those new 'Sweet Tarts' I got at school...Zzzzzz

Does anybody come by and do [italic] Trick or Treat !!, [/italic] anymore?

by Anonymousreply 43October 11, 2022 6:15 PM

Twix (caramel) and Reese's peanut butter cups.

by Anonymousreply 44October 11, 2022 6:25 PM

I'll second fruity sour things: Lemonheads, Warheads, Smarties, Nerds, Sweetarts, Skittles, Starbursts, Charms lollipops.

Chocolatey things: Junior Mints, Peppermint Patties & Tootsie Rolls (chocolate & fruit flavors...no vanilla). I love Kraft Caramels too. Way too much.

Hot cinnamon: Atomic Fireballs & Hot Tamales

And I loved getting homemade popcorn balls as a kid (only from people we knew personally), but they didn't taste as good if they weren't wrapped in black or orange wax paper! I don't even think they make that wax paper anymore.
"Good N Plenty, never!"

R11 I love licorice (actual black licorice, the red stuff isn't licorice), but I DETEST Good 'n Plenty. The flavoring is almost as disgusting as the chalky coating.

by Anonymousreply 45October 11, 2022 6:26 PM

Tootsie Pops

Mini Snicker Bars

Reese's Peanut Butter Cups (can consume an entire bag of the miniature version).

by Anonymousreply 46October 11, 2022 6:26 PM

I buy alot of candy for halloween, then i turn off all my lights and enjoy every bite.

by Anonymousreply 47October 11, 2022 7:20 PM

Sixlets!

Malted Milk Balls, Chicklets, Life Savers, Dots, Jaw Breakers, Rasinettes and money.

by Anonymousreply 49October 11, 2022 7:51 PM

Stapler, paper clips, gardening tools, cans of pumpkin meat.

by Anonymousreply 50October 11, 2022 8:44 PM

Circus peanuts, Mary Janes, Black Jack chewing gum, Necco wafers.

by Anonymousreply 51October 11, 2022 9:06 PM

I’ve discovered a late-in-life taste for malted milk balls, which made me gag as a child.

by Anonymousreply 52October 11, 2022 10:45 PM
Costco does allow you to return food items, though they can’t resell it & have to throw it away. I learned this when my coworker tried to return yogurt because she wasn’t crazy about the taste.

I just came back from Costco. I asked an employee if they could resell candy if I over bought it and returned it. He said yes, they don't resell refrigerated and frozen items but otherwise they can resell. I bought two more boxes.

by Anonymousreply 53October 11, 2022 11:32 PM

Cock

by Anonymousreply 54October 11, 2022 11:43 PM

That's good to know. I bought a really large double pack of wet wipes for my runny ass when I was sick last year, and only needed one pack. I kept them attached. I used 1 whole pack which lasted several times a day for a number of days. So I'll return the unused pack.

by Anonymousreply 55October 11, 2022 11:46 PM

R51 is psychotic.

by Anonymousreply 56October 12, 2022 3:18 AM

I was a kid in the 70s, and you would sometimes get really awful Depression-era candy like Necco wafer rolls, Pearson's Salted Nut Rolls, Boston Baked Beans, and the most dreaded of all, Mary Janes.

by Anonymousreply 57October 12, 2022 3:24 AM

Twix, Snickers, Milky Way, Reeces Cups. So, chocolate.

by Anonymousreply 58October 12, 2022 3:28 AM

Salted Nut Rolls aren’t as bad as circus peanuts.

by Anonymousreply 59October 12, 2022 3:41 AM

I liked squirrel nut zippers, which I never saw at any other time. I also used to love Ice Cube chocolates.

by Anonymousreply 60October 12, 2022 3:46 AM

Baby Ruth, Heath Bars, Rollos, Hersheys With Almonds, Butterfingers, Zagnut, Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups, Snickers, Mars/Mars Almond…these are all pretty cheap, nasty chocolate, but I ate them all as a kid.

Now, Ho-hum, I stay away from sugars and corn syrup. But as a kid and in school, these were big treats.

by Anonymousreply 61October 12, 2022 8:20 AM

I get the candy I know I won't eat. Stuff I would have gotten as a kid, Nerds, BlowPops, Skittles, that taffy in black and orange wax paper. I wait to buy the chocolate candies I know I would woof down like paydays, almond joys, York peppermint patties, and snickers.

by Anonymousreply 62October 12, 2022 9:29 AM

R51 is also over 80

by Anonymousreply 63October 12, 2022 9:56 AM

RIP Squirrel Nut Zippers. Didn't hold the interest of Necco Wafers (such variety!) but were tasty. We put them in the toaster oven on graham crackers.

by Anonymousreply 64October 12, 2022 11:27 AM

I throw a big Halloween bash every year for neighbors and friends. Candy for the kids and booze foe the adults under five 10x10 tents. Two of the tents are for props. This is arriving on Friday.

The kind that goes deep inside our no no place. Nutty flavored!

by Anonymousreply 66October 12, 2022 12:34 PM

none, never liked candy

by Anonymousreply 67October 12, 2022 12:38 PM

I like Easter candy.

by Anonymousreply 68October 12, 2022 2:14 PM
I throw a big Halloween bash every year for neighbors and friends. Candy for the kids and booze foe the adults under five 10x10 tents. Two of the tents are for props.

Why? Is this for business or pleasure?

by Anonymousreply 69October 12, 2022 3:45 PM

Pleasure, r69. It's the only holiday I am enthused about. My friends, neighbors and the trick or treaters seem to enjoy it.

by Anonymousreply 70October 12, 2022 6:16 PM

R1 is my soulmate.

Are you a top or a bottom? Asking, because we may marry.

Or fuck.

by Anonymousreply 71October 12, 2022 6:18 PM

r70 Do you have rides, haunted houses, etc. Two tents for props! I bet you are beloved by your friends and neighbors.

by Anonymousreply 72October 12, 2022 7:33 PM

r72, no rides or haunted houses, just 2 tents for props. Some friends and neighbors stay for hours drinking and having fun, some stop by to chat and the trick or treaters and their parents usually grab candy and a drink. Some of the kids go through the tents multiple times.

by Anonymousreply 73October 13, 2022 4:14 AM

I remember we got boxed candies, Good n Plenty, Junior Mints, and also (dating myself here) good sized bags of plain M&M’s. We also got little concave sugar discs in a cellophane sleeve, Smarties. And a lot of Tootsie Rolls and Bit-o-Honey, but these were larger than they are today. We carried our candy in pillow cases and traded with each other after we got home.

by Anonymousreply 74October 13, 2022 10:44 AM

R74, what dates you about m&ms? They're still a very popular candy, unlike Mary Janes, etc.

by Anonymousreply 75October 13, 2022 12:17 PM

Necco Wafers

by Anonymousreply 76October 13, 2022 1:03 PM

When I do eat candy, I like Mallo Cups, Mounds Bar, Sweet Tarts, Reese's Cups. I paid $16.00, for a bag of candy bars the other day. Ridiculous.

by Anonymousreply 77October 13, 2022 1:43 PM

Loosies and Bic lighters.

by Anonymousreply 78October 13, 2022 2:10 PM

None, costs too much!

by Anonymousreply 79October 13, 2022 2:38 PM

Almond Joy and Mounds

by Anonymousreply 80October 13, 2022 2:52 PM

Harvest corn candy

by Anonymousreply 81October 13, 2022 3:06 PM

The best candy is Peanut M&Ms. No contest.

by Anonymousreply 82October 13, 2022 3:31 PM

Wrong, R82. It's Reese's peanut butter cups. Peanut M&Ms are in my top 3 though.

by Anonymousreply 83October 13, 2022 4:16 PM

Peanut and chocolate flavors are each great but I loathe them together.

by Anonymousreply 84October 13, 2022 4:31 PM

I hand out silver dollars instead of candy. I only have maybe 30-40 trick or treaters, so it's fun to do.

by Anonymousreply 85October 13, 2022 4:37 PM

M&Ms, Milky Way, Sour Patch Kids, Nerds🎃

by Anonymousreply 86October 13, 2022 4:48 PM

That's pretty cool, R35. We get about 500 kids so not feasible for everyone.

by Anonymousreply 87October 13, 2022 4:58 PM

I'm a total fun size fan, not as big a Nestlé fan as I am Hersheys. I had a house on our trick or treating route 1000 years ago who gave out handmade candy and caramel apples. Hell would freeze over before that'd happen today.

Kids get to 'trunk or treat ' (because walking around a neighborhood is apparently too much stress for most parents). I can remember neighborhood dads who would jump out of hiding places and chase you with the cheesy full head masks, scared the piss out of me, my friends, other neighborhood kids, but it was so much more fun.

by Anonymousreply 88October 13, 2022 7:52 PM

My asshole tastes just like candy.

by Anonymousreply 89October 13, 2022 8:18 PM

I’m a candy ass

by Anonymousreply 90October 13, 2022 8:20 PM

The mini sweet tarts are sooo good. I also love dots. I’m very particular about chocolate…I like Kit Kats but only the European version that I buy at world market. The little bitch assed neighborhood kids aren’t getting $6 European chocolate. I actually pulled off a crown while eating a dot once. I also cracked a tooth chewing on a valentine heart.

by Anonymousreply 91October 13, 2022 8:35 PM

R1- Amazon sells bags of just orange tootsie pops. I love them too.

by Anonymousreply 92October 13, 2022 8:44 PM

These days, a dollar won't even buy a candy bar.

by Anonymousreply 93October 13, 2022 8:45 PM

That’s right r93 so roll it up real tight and CRAM IT UP YOUR ASS!

by Anonymousreply 94October 13, 2022 8:53 PM

American "candy" is crap.

Get some Haribo down ya.

by Anonymousreply 95October 13, 2022 8:56 PM

🎶Mary Jayyyynes🎶

by Anonymousreply 96October 13, 2022 9:27 PM

Agree that it's too expensive. I saw at Walmart a variety bag with Snickers, Twix, etc. for around $20.

by Anonymousreply 97October 13, 2022 9:32 PM

Snickers taste better in Europe. I kid you not.

by Anonymousreply 98October 13, 2022 9:32 PM

R63 - you would know this...how?

by Anonymousreply 99October 13, 2022 11:34 PM

R96---I'm in love with Mary Jane, I'm not the only one!

by Anonymousreply 100October 14, 2022 3:25 AM

R75 I meant that I predate the “fun sized” options. In the 1970’s we were given the M&M’s in a bag that was the size of one that would come from a vending machine. I remember, even earlier, that the candy wrappers for Baby Ruth bars were made of crinkly wax paper, not the fiberless plastic sleeves they came in later. I think they were 35 cents.

by Anonymousreply 101October 14, 2022 9:26 AM

If you eat a bunch of fun size candy bars you won’t have a fun size ass.

by Anonymousreply 102October 14, 2022 9:59 PM

The razor blades in apples thing was debunked but there was a father who killed his son with poisoned pixie stix years ago (1980s?) after taking out a large life insurance policy on him. The effed up thing was, he put poison in other pixie stix to kill more kids in the neighborhood to make it look like a deranged killer was on the loose. Fortunately no other kids died.

I liked all the fun-size candy bars. I don't like nuts so I would trade with my sister, my Snickers for her 3 Musketeers or Milky Way, my peanut m&m's for her plain, etc. I also liked the little round hard candies wrapped individually in clear plastic. Cherry, lime, lemon, orange.

by Anonymousreply 103October 14, 2022 11:43 PM

R82 have you tried M&Ms pretzel? They are pretty good. Also, a while back M&M test marketed? some M&M jalapeño....I got my hands on some of those and they were fantastic, but the powers that be went with M&M brownie fudge which were meh. Mary Janes can do a number on your dental work.

by Anonymousreply 104October 15, 2022 4:24 PM

I do not like pretzels 🥨 with chocolate

by Anonymousreply 105October 15, 2022 4:44 PM

I vote for Laffy Taffy.

by Anonymousreply 106October 16, 2022 1:08 AM

Oh, and cigar-sizes Tootsie Rolls.

by Anonymousreply 107October 16, 2022 1:19 AM

{quote}I can remember neighborhood dads who would jump out of hiding places and chase you with the cheesy full head masks, scared the piss out of me, my friends, other neighborhood kids, but it was so much more fun.

Being scared was the best part of Halloween. But then I had parents who made me feel safe.

by Anonymousreply 108October 16, 2022 5:20 AM

Krackle and Mr. Goodbar were always my jam.

by Anonymousreply 109October 16, 2022 6:01 AM

I like Harvest corn (or Indian corn). It's the candy corn with the chocolate bottom instead of yellow. I get one bag every year and only eat the chocolate part. I used to love Chocolate Babies as a kid but I assume they don't make those any more.
