[quote] Madonna (now)
Madonna was *always* pretentious. Well, at least starting from affecting a pseudo British accent. Then, "playing" guitar. I do play guitar, a little. When she professed that she was learning guitar and got up on stage, "playing" guitar, I knew she was a poser. She was basically strumming 3 easy chords on a very expensive guitar.

A hundred years ago I worked at a popular restaurant and eventually most famous people came in for dinner.
The only two who really expected us all to turn our heads in delight and wonderment were Richard Dreyfuss and Sylvester Stallone who seemed baffled we didn't automatically comp his meal.
Every other celebrity, for better or worse, just sat down and ordered dinner like everyone else...oh, except Diahann Carroll, but we all knew she was batshit crazy already.

Ethan Hawke is somewhat pretentious, but that seems to born of a genuine love for film and literature, which most actors today do not have at all. I like that he’s proud to be an intellectual. That shows in non-paycheck projects he produces or does - First Reformed, that John Brown show, the Newman/Woodward doc.

I don't know what one has to do with the other, R114.
Anyway, R57 Stiers was Julliard-educated and mentored by John Houseman there (which I didn't know until I looked it up, but I find interesting). He was an actor but also a director, and musician who guest conducted smaller regional orchestras. He played pompous very well, but at most, it was a great exaggeration of qualities he already possessed. I can see how that may be perceived as pretentios, but I don't really believe he was.

Early on, she simply WHACKED Cloris in the face with an oar and Reggie reached over to help. Somers bit him right on the wrist. Outrageous. The crowd howled with laughter, thinking this was all part of the show. I shot to my feet, screaming “DROWN THE DINGBAT!” I said to the producers “You can’t run with this kind of garbage! I hate to say this because I really do love her, but...
Jenifer Lewis has a tendency to go on these pseudo-profound, super-serious diatribes/rants in interviews, in which she seems to believe she's imparting her great wisdom unto the world.
And it often comes on very suddenly and out of left field. Like one minute she's being all silly and hilarious, and then it's like some switch gets flipped and she turns into this insufferable blowhard. Weird.
Will always love her, though.

Meghan Markle and Harry Windsor. Should do something else besides calling themselves humanitarians if they can't even maintain proper rships with their relatives. Angelina, especially for trying to blame being underweight/eating disordered/on speed, H or coke on seeing starvation and malnutrition in developing countries. Cynical in the extreme.
