I think R Kelly was deposed. I say Usher
Usher? Is he still making music? I thought he retired in the early 00s.
by Anonymous | reply 1 | October 2, 2022 8:18 PM |
Usher and Miguel are my faves. The rest of these hoes...nope. Chris Brown might as well be a rapper.
by Anonymous | reply 2 | October 2, 2022 8:21 PM |
everyone on this list sound more like other genres than r&b now.
their original are the remix version.
so, nah.
by Anonymous | reply 3 | October 2, 2022 8:22 PM |
Does authentic soul & S&B still exist?
by Anonymous | reply 4 | October 2, 2022 8:26 PM |
I thought Usher retired after it was revealed he gave some dude an STD?
by Anonymous | reply 5 | October 2, 2022 8:50 PM |
I voted the Weeknd. Chris could have been if he didnt turn out to be so fucked up. And beating the shit out of Rihanna certainly didn't help.
by Anonymous | reply 6 | October 3, 2022 10:49 AM |
You know you’re on a gay website when the leader (by a wide margin) for the “King of R&B” is a biracial Canadian.

by Anonymous | reply 8 | October 3, 2022 10:58 AM |
R6 do you hold michael Jackson to the same scrutiny you hold chris brown. Let me guess probably not. If that is the case then chris is the current king of R &B. He is more talented than the weekend in my opinion. Chris songs are more fun to listen to than the weekend. I would have picked usher but he has aged out.
by Anonymous | reply 9 | October 3, 2022 11:01 AM |
R9 Michael was the King Of Pop. And he was also incredibly fucked up, just in a different way.
by Anonymous | reply 10 | October 3, 2022 11:34 AM |
Usher
by Anonymous | reply 11 | October 3, 2022 11:39 AM |
R7 You're so woke, bro
by Anonymous | reply 12 | October 3, 2022 1:37 PM |
Miguel and Frank Ocean are better singers, but in terms of popularity it’s obviously The Weeknd.
WHET Maxwell?
by Anonymous | reply 13 | October 3, 2022 1:51 PM |
Thwy killed r&b for the crap rap.
by Anonymous | reply 14 | October 3, 2022 3:22 PM |
I love hip hop
by Anonymous | reply 15 | October 3, 2022 5:52 PM |
The Weekens is so overrated. He;s talented but most of his hit songs just sound like 80s leftovers.
by Anonymous | reply 16 | October 3, 2022 11:51 PM |
r13 was just listening to Ascension...Maxwell is still touring all over
were the rumors true? He's still quite handsome
by Anonymous | reply 17 | October 4, 2022 12:12 AM |
If you put Maxwell, why not D'Angelo? He's more critically acclaimed than any other person on that list, apart from Frank Ocean, maybe.
by Anonymous | reply 18 | October 4, 2022 12:54 PM |
The choices are all so off base. OP don't know what he's talking about. Usher was great. Still a sexy mofo. But he isn't fresh.
None of the rest of them can sing. R&B requires that you can sing. Chris Brown can sing - but he doesn't want to. Maxwell was pretty - before I was born. R Kelly is 55 years old and not coming back.
Leon Bridges and Gary Clark Jr. are the best. Even John Mayer and Michael Kiwanuka. It's all a bit hybrid. They're the best though. Regardless if they're sales KINGs.

Justin Timberlake
Shawn Mendes
Charlie Puth
Michael Bolton
Snow
Rob Thomas
by Anonymous | reply 21 | October 20, 2022 7:14 AM |
Bruno Mars. Anyday he wants to.
by Anonymous | reply 22 | October 20, 2022 7:18 AM |
The Weekend is not an R&B artist, he is a pop artist. Although his music and vocal style have some elements of R&B, so does most pop these days. Looking at his recent music especially, it would not be categorized as R&B however.
Chris Brown in terms of talent is the winner here. His vocals are impeccable and he’s the only one that can really dance as well. Unfortunately his popularity is limited by both his history and his current fucked up attitude.

Jack Harlow
by Anonymous | reply 24 | October 20, 2022 7:24 AM |

by Anonymous | reply 25 | October 20, 2022 7:39 AM |
R23 Chris Brown is more talented than Frank Ocean?0
by Anonymous | reply 26 | October 20, 2022 8:14 AM |
Frank Ocean is such a reluctant artist. What has he really done since Blond?
by Anonymous | reply 28 | October 20, 2022 8:18 AM |

Nobody is outsinging R.Kelly, when you have the gift you have the gift.
by Anonymous | reply 31 | October 21, 2022 3:11 AM |
^^You don’t have to be so pissy. R Kelly can do that all by himself.
by Anonymous | reply 32 | October 21, 2022 5:30 AM |
Pissy he may be, fucked up he may be, still the best singer. These twenty year olds dont have shit on him.

R1, the early 2000s was when he was at his commercial and critical peak. He didn't make it big until the late 90s. Since then he's had a string of hits on the charts with only wanning success in recent years. Some of you elders misremember time.
by Anonymous | reply 35 | October 22, 2022 8:37 PM |
Confessions didn't even come out until 2004. Since then hes had at least a dozen top ten hits.
by Anonymous | reply 36 | October 22, 2022 8:38 PM |
There's like 2 posters here total who listen to R&B. Dumb post.
by Anonymous | reply 38 | November 21, 2022 2:28 AM |

by Anonymous | reply 40 | November 21, 2022 3:05 AM |
He used to be hot
by Anonymous | reply 41 | November 21, 2022 3:20 AM |
Kelly's never hid her friendship with Chris. It's sad because she's also a survivor of domestic abuse and Chris does not care for dark skinned women. I'm just waiting for someone to bring up her adlib from Freddy Vs Jason to try and get her cancelled.

by Anonymous | reply 46 | November 24, 2022 12:56 AM |
R. Kelly was set up and manipulated by Gayle King.

R45 Silencio, Jordin! You had your chance and lost it thanks to the Jonas Bros.
by Anonymous | reply 48 | November 24, 2022 1:13 AM |
Geez OP, that is one sad list.
Silk Sonic with Anderson.Pak and Bruno Mars is better than any of those listed.
by Anonymous | reply 49 | November 24, 2022 1:24 AM |
Currently no one listed really is, imo, however Chris Brown would be the closest to hold that title. Unfortunately, what happened with Rihanna derailed his career, for he was on his way to becoming a global international megastar, in music and in film, which was the trajectory his career was on, without the stigma of abuse. It's like there's an even split amongst ppl who still love him and forgiven him in comparison to those who have written him off. A prime example was winning at the AMA's, which is fan based, while simultaneously being uninvited and subsequently jeered for winning.
As someone else mentioned, a lot of rappers sing now, so going by that logic, wouldn't the current 👑 be Drake? 😆
by Anonymous | reply 50 | November 24, 2022 5:36 AM |
R40 I didn't see that you had mentioned Drake before me for I didn't read every response prior to mine lol
by Anonymous | reply 51 | November 24, 2022 5:40 AM |
R42 What was the adlib? And I've always remembered how Chris isn't interested in dark-skinned women unless there's monetary gain involved, either working with them or fans who pay $1000 just to take a picture with him.
by Anonymous | reply 52 | November 24, 2022 5:42 AM |
R52 she calls Freddy Kruger a faggot.
by Anonymous | reply 53 | November 24, 2022 6:12 AM |
Chris Brown does not make R&B anymore. He has been solidly hip-hop for a long time. If we're just talking sales and popularity over the years, I'd say Usher and The Weeknd.
by Anonymous | reply 54 | November 24, 2022 2:28 PM |
Frank Ocean is the most critically acclaimed.
by Anonymous | reply 55 | November 24, 2022 2:32 PM |
True, but Frank is sort of alternative R&B

The same person who has been the king for years: BB King. He was, is, and will be the King of R&B forever.

Usher and Drake played to 100,000 at Dreamville in Raleigh last weekend
by Anonymous | reply 67 | April 7, 2023 5:21 PM |
I strongly dislike The Weeknd’s voice though it’s better than it used to be. Anyway, yeah, he’s pop not r&b. I voted Chris.
by Anonymous | reply 68 | April 7, 2023 5:29 PM |
Clearly Chris Brown now and Usher as legacy king
