As a non-contact sport it is much easier and much less distressing to do for gays and bis than many other sports, also because you always play outside and most the practicing happens outside and also for other reasons you don't sweat as much, it is not that important to shower with the others in your youth, so that also makes it pretty gay-friendly. It's a pretty gay and bi sport, also for males, and part of its problem is that it is too closet-friendly and not macho and primitive and proletarian enough.

According to the 500-page tell-all, former Yankees assistant equipment manager Paul Priore and co-writer Gary Toushek claim both Jeter and Posada engaged in homosexual activity in the clubhouse sauna at the end of their first season with the team. He also claims that Jeter and Posada allowed Priore to perform oral sex on them in order to keep him quiet.

Back in 1997, Priore was fired because, according to him, he is HIV positive. Even though the Yankees and New York State courts have officially denounced those claims, the former employee has no qualms about revealing all the dirty laundry from the locker room in his newly released tell-all.

Deep within the pages, Priore reveals that Bob Wickman, Jeff Nelson, and Mariano Rivera tried to sexually assault Priore with a baseball bat and Gerald Williams had sex with an underage concession stand worker in a storage closet. The book further discloses that Cecil Fielder played drunk on vodka and Darryl Strawberry drank whiskey during games.

While I'm sure there are a handful of closeted baseball players, the sport seems to overly attract the kind of guy who is politically right-wing, fervently religious, and feels the need to marry and procreate early on. It's a bummer.

Most big sport team athletes are conservative and religious. NHL Hockey may be the exception because so many players are European and Canadian. Many MLB players are Latin.

R50 it’s a great book with some excellent descriptions of baseball and some sexy love scenes. But I don’t think that it will work out as a film. Hollywood is so chickenshit when it comes to non mainstream sources for film.
