I think I'll go with either ABC or CNN.

I cannot stand Savannah Guthrie (NBC) or Gayle King (CBS).

FOX is out of the question.

I'll go with the gays. Either David Muir or Anderson Cooper.

Which ever one is less irritating, is the one I'll stick with.

by Anonymousreply 1September 19, 2022 7:46 AM

This is the official DL funeral thread? Cause there's also this

by Anonymousreply 2September 19, 2022 7:51 AM

Doesn't matter, R2.

by Anonymousreply 3September 19, 2022 7:59 AM

It’ll definitely be BBC’s YT stream for me. I look forward to Huw Edwards’ warm, Welsh narration. I might jump over to Sky News to get Mrs. Alistair Bruce’s take on things.

by Anonymousreply 4September 19, 2022 8:02 AM

We receive the BBC World News channel on my American cable box. They’ve been covering the queue and the last preparations for the past hours.

by Anonymousreply 5September 19, 2022 8:06 AM

Sky News (Youtube) and The Daily Mail also have live streams of the funeral. The Daily Mail does images without the incessant wallah. Sky News is already live. The Beeb doesn't seem to have cranked up yet.

by Anonymousreply 6September 19, 2022 8:08 AM

Starts in about two hours.

by Anonymousreply 7September 19, 2022 8:08 AM

Yep, Beeb is up and running. People already entering the Abbey to be seated.

by Anonymousreply 8September 19, 2022 8:09 AM

Omg R8!

They're going to be waiting for hours!

by Anonymousreply 9September 19, 2022 8:12 AM

Why would anyone watch an American network for this particular event when Sky News has excellent coverage streaming on YouTube?

by Anonymousreply 10September 19, 2022 8:13 AM

R9 Two and a half. Everyone has to arrive before 10:44 London time because that's when they're bringing the Old Girl's coffin over from Westminster Hall.

by Anonymousreply 11September 19, 2022 8:15 AM

Some poor guy all dressed up who must have gotten up at 05:00 to be there just got stopped and asked to show his invite. How rude!!!

by Anonymousreply 12September 19, 2022 8:18 AM

Has anyone famous arrived yet?

by Anonymousreply 13September 19, 2022 8:25 AM

"Famous" won't start arriving for at least another hour.

by Anonymousreply 14September 19, 2022 8:26 AM

Felicity Kendal in taking about Princess Margaret on the BBC right now and she has fucked with her face so much she looks like a character from The Dark Crystal.

So funny she went the plastic surgery route and Penelope Keith has left hers age naturally.

by Anonymousreply 15September 19, 2022 8:31 AM

GB News has already started their coverage an hour ago. No commercials and good commentary.

Offsite Link
by Anonymousreply 16September 19, 2022 8:31 AM

Fuck off with that R16, the BBC is already going as well and is being carried live on PBS stations in the US, commercial-free.

by Anonymousreply 17September 19, 2022 8:33 AM

I hadn't realised that, r17. I thought all American programming had commercials. I would apologise but instead I'll tell you to DIE IN A GREASE FIRE because I was only trying to present an alternative for those who didn't want to watch commercial interruptions and your response was incredibly out of order.

by Anonymousreply 18September 19, 2022 8:36 AM

Listen here you cunt. You link to a right-wing news organization, you get what you get. So fuck off and STFU.

by Anonymousreply 19September 19, 2022 8:39 AM

The BBC has been so droll I started napping. An interview with Sir Andrew Lloyd Weber while CNN is already inside the abbey watching people walking in.

by Anonymousreply 20September 19, 2022 8:46 AM

R20, the BBC cut to a view of inside the Abbey once they got Sir ALW talking, it’s not as if you’re going to recognize any of the early arrivals anyway.

by Anonymousreply 21September 19, 2022 8:51 AM

I've got the ITV free stream on, black-clad crowds are filing into Westminster Abbey. they're arriving in busloads, and there's a fellow in a black suit with a chestful of medals and a straw cape on camera.

He must be the monarch of some Pacific Island nation.

by Anonymousreply 22September 19, 2022 8:56 AM

I appreciate it, R16.

Some people here are so rude.

by Anonymousreply 23September 19, 2022 8:57 AM

Will the Queen be interred today?

I've never seen a royal funeral, not even Diana's.

So I'm wondering if she gets buried right after the funeral, or do they wait a few days?

by Anonymousreply 24September 19, 2022 8:58 AM

Probably the King of Tonga, r22. The Queen was very close to the former Queen of Tonga, who I presume was his mother.

by Anonymousreply 25September 19, 2022 8:58 AM

OP FAILED. Unless OFFICIAL is in the thread title other threads on the same subject will appear.

by Anonymousreply 26September 19, 2022 8:59 AM

Thanks, r23. I appreciate it.

by Anonymousreply 27September 19, 2022 8:59 AM

Sky News on Youtube.

by Anonymousreply 28September 19, 2022 9:01 AM

What time do members of the royal family start arriving?

This is going to be the first time that members of his own family will have to sing "God Save the King" to Charles III.

He's going to love every minute of it!

by Anonymousreply 29September 19, 2022 9:03 AM

Yes, r24. She will be interred today, next to her parents and Philip, who will be moved from the Royal Vault to be interred with her at a private ceremony in Windsor Chapel after the Abbey ceremony ends.

by Anonymousreply 30September 19, 2022 9:03 AM

Felicity Kendal and Lord Coe? I call that very feeble. Was that best BBC could do?

by Anonymousreply 31September 19, 2022 9:05 AM

Interesting, R30.

So even in death, Philip could not be in his permanent burial spot, until Elizabeth went in first?

Wow, they are serious about the rules!

by Anonymousreply 32September 19, 2022 9:07 AM

No one does this sort of thing like the BBC, so if there's a live stream of that, definitely watch it.

I saw the name "Omid Scobie" in the opening post, which is surely enough to put any American off watching thier own coverage. Do you want nightmares?

by Anonymousreply 33September 19, 2022 9:09 AM

They've been planning this for seventy years, best get it right.

Offsite Link
by Anonymousreply 34September 19, 2022 9:09 AM

Why the fuck would anyone watch American TV coverage when the BBC is streaming it online.

American television coverage of events is – as Clive James put it – "television for the blind" : the commentators never shut up for a single fucking second! And they always state the bleeding obvious. Unlike the Brits, they never give the majesty or emotion of an event its own due by allowing silence: from the Olympics to Royal events it's one non-stop incessant natter, like they're catering to dumbfuck tourists.

by Anonymousreply 35September 19, 2022 9:09 AM

Who did the makeup job on Elizabeth? When she was dying she reverted back to her reptilian form. If the coffin opens the world will learn all about The Lizard Queen.

by Anonymousreply 36September 19, 2022 9:10 AM

Felicity Kendall? Presenter? On the Beeb? Huh?

by Anonymousreply 37September 19, 2022 9:13 AM

Sky News is showing people rucking up at the Abbey. Beats listening to Felicity Kendall.

by Anonymousreply 38September 19, 2022 9:14 AM

Busloads of dignitaries arriving at the Abbey on Sky News

by Anonymousreply 39September 19, 2022 9:16 AM

Huw is handling the BBC coverage. Felicity was interviewed with Lord Coe for three minutes over 45 minutes ago.

by Anonymousreply 40September 19, 2022 9:17 AM

[quote] Why the fuck would anyone watch American TV coverage when the BBC is streaming it online.

I'm watching R16's link, and you're right.

The coverage is much better than the American news stations.

I'm in the US but I'm going to keep watching this.

They just finished a tribute to the Queen from Camilla. That was nice.

by Anonymousreply 41September 19, 2022 9:18 AM

Live feed of the funeral just kicked in on The Daily Mail home page. Images, no wallah

by Anonymousreply 42September 19, 2022 9:18 AM

Buckingham Palace just released a final photo of the Queen, from May 2022.

She was already looking thin even back then.

by Anonymousreply 43September 19, 2022 9:20 AM

Thanks, r41.

by Anonymousreply 44September 19, 2022 9:20 AM

Daily Mail feed focused on the front door of the Abbey.

by Anonymousreply 45September 19, 2022 9:21 AM

Sky News has surpassed the BBC for this kind of thing. BBC has all those chatty hags.

by Anonymousreply 46September 19, 2022 9:24 AM

Who are those young girls that just got off bus wearing medals?

by Anonymousreply 47September 19, 2022 9:26 AM

I never realized how anti-Sussex the British media is.

Andrew Pierce from the Daily Mail is on R16's link right now, and he is absolutely TRASHING Harry.

He's saying that Harry needs to shut up, Harry made his own choice and he has to be happy with it, and basically too bad for him. Then he mentioned, he shouldn't be talking about the missing ER from his uniform because it's all going to come out in his book any way.

Damn, the Daily Mail really is nasty.

And right before this asshole came on, there was a woman talking about how everything was better when it was just William, Harry and Kate. Until Meghan came along.

The British coverage is completely anti-Sussex.

Being here in the US, you would never know this, because our coverage of them is very favorable.

Now I know why the British people are so nasty towards Harry and Meghan. There's so much propaganda against them.

by Anonymousreply 48September 19, 2022 9:26 AM

Where are all the gays? Over these 5 days I haven't seen one gay interviewed on the streets.

by Anonymousreply 49September 19, 2022 9:27 AM

Love Mogg's hat!

by Anonymousreply 50September 19, 2022 9:28 AM

This guy Andrew Pierce is absolutely disgusting.

He reminds me exactly of the FOX News talking heads, here in the US.

Very negative.

Andrew Pierce was raised in an orphanage and rose to become the Assistant Editor (second-in -command) at the Daily Telegraph. You may not like him, but he's a serious player on Fleet Street.

by Anonymousreply 65September 19, 2022 9:41 AM

Oh, dear.

GBN is currently interviewing a woman in Manchester, and she was speaking in glowing terms of the Queen.

Then the reporter asked her if she would accept King Charles III, and she said "We kind of have to. I have a bit of a thing with him, but he's the king now so we have to accept it."

ROFL!!!

by Anonymousreply 66September 19, 2022 9:44 AM

If it's pouring in Manchester, does that mean rain is on the way to London?

by Anonymousreply 67September 19, 2022 9:45 AM

The man on GBN just said "We will call Camilla 'The Queen" (without the consort) because that's what Elizabeth II wanted."

And the woman co-hosting with him, just let out a SIGH.

Rofl.

These people are so unprofessional. That would never happen on American tv.

by Anonymousreply 72September 19, 2022 9:47 AM

Yeomen of the Guard marching and looking quite smart

by Anonymousreply 73September 19, 2022 9:48 AM

They're showing regiment after regiment and band after band getting into position, all in insane traditional costumes, this is going to be a hell of a show! It makes me glad to be working nights.

I believe these hunky young men in sailor suits are going to pull the coffin.

by Anonymousreply 74September 19, 2022 9:49 AM

On the daily Mail feed, the vicars or prelates are whatever the fuck they're called are standing outside the Abbey, so someone "important" is suppose to ruck up.

by Anonymousreply 75September 19, 2022 9:50 AM

R48, have you asked yourself why the Daily Mail is anti-Sussex? Bet you're hoping it's to do with racism? To fit your narrative. It's not.

The Daily Mail is the ultimate QEII fan mag. Harry's trashing of his family and the institution of monarchy, are anathema to all the Daily Mail stands for.

by Anonymousreply 76September 19, 2022 9:51 AM

r72 That man is correct: he's referring to the fact that when Charles married Camilla, it was publicly stated that she would NOT be made Queen but instead be made "Princess Consort". the Queen decided that Camilla would be Queen only last year. That commentator was entirely correct.

by Anonymousreply 77September 19, 2022 9:51 AM

I think you mean 'rock up', R38/R75.

by Anonymousreply 78September 19, 2022 9:51 AM

R48 They abandoned us, they maligned our Royal Family and stayed away instead of serving their country. Then went on TV to insult their family.

So yes, a lot of Brits aren't enamoured by them.

by Anonymousreply 79September 19, 2022 9:52 AM

Andrew, Anne and Edward are going to choke out the words to "God Save the King."

I don't think his siblings are going to be very supportive of Charles.

by Anonymousreply 80September 19, 2022 9:52 AM

R78 No, I mean ruck up. Aussie.

Oooooooooooo, look at all the sailor boys!!!

by Anonymousreply 81September 19, 2022 9:54 AM

by Anonymousreply 90September 19, 2022 9:57 AM

No! We're just enjoying a free show!

Free for us, anyway. We're not British taxpayers.

by Anonymousreply 92September 19, 2022 9:58 AM

And I love the fact that the only touches of color in the Westminster crowd are on the ecclesiastical officials, who are all tricked out in red and pagenta. Church fashions were not designed by straigh men.

by Anonymousreply 130September 19, 2022 10:10 AM

R120…we’re talking fashion already because I’ve seen some trainwrecks.

Dr. Biden got her color done and a gloss treatment. The headband…babes…no.

by Anonymousreply 131September 19, 2022 10:10 AM

[quote] The lady on GBN asked, "Which one is THE BEAST?"

Camilla will arrive shortly.

by Anonymousreply 132September 19, 2022 10:10 AM

Biden arrives late and is held in queue while the more important people take their pews.

He should have taken the bus like everyone else, arrogant c word.

by Anonymousreply 133September 19, 2022 10:11 AM

Yes, I'm in the U.S. and watching BBC on YouTube.

by Anonymousreply 134September 19, 2022 10:11 AM

CBC coverage has started in Canada with Chief Correspondent Adrienne Arsenault.

by Anonymousreply 135September 19, 2022 10:12 AM

The sky looks very eerie on the GBN broadcast.

Gray and orange and very dreary.

by Anonymousreply 136September 19, 2022 10:12 AM

R125 that was brilliant. I'm going to be so disappointed by the reality, though!

by Anonymousreply 137September 19, 2022 10:13 AM

Nothing to do with Biden being arrogant, R133. Our security forces set the rules.

They stated their boundaries then, so they don’t have state them now.

by Anonymousreply 138September 19, 2022 10:13 AM

I'm watching BBC coverage on PBS, right here in North America.

by Anonymousreply 139September 19, 2022 10:13 AM

I love the history of the Abbey and the ceremony that Starkey is doing.

by Anonymousreply 140September 19, 2022 10:13 AM

Another half an hour and they bring the Old Girl from Westminster Hall.

by Anonymousreply 141September 19, 2022 10:15 AM

Charlotte and George walking behind the coffin but ahead of weird Uncle Harry and his crazy wife.

by Anonymousreply 142September 19, 2022 10:15 AM

M. et Mme. President de France look very well indeed.

by Anonymousreply 143September 19, 2022 10:15 AM

I can’t get over Dr. Biden’s headband…like, sis…

by Anonymousreply 144September 19, 2022 10:15 AM

A busload of immigrants from the southern border just arrived!

They look confused.

by Anonymousreply 145September 19, 2022 10:15 AM

I'm watching GBN online and MSNBC live on television.

MSNBC has the cameras inside the Abbey, where we can see all of the dignitaries.

Joe and Jill are sitting in the midst of a whole bunch of nobodies.

by Anonymousreply 146September 19, 2022 10:15 AM

The arrivals just before the Bidens included a handsome man who I believe may be a dracula. They sadly didn't tell us who it was.

All these ugly SUVs. Looks so common.

by Anonymousreply 148September 19, 2022 10:16 AM

She's American R144, what else does one expect?

by Anonymousreply 149September 19, 2022 10:16 AM

Macron looks bored and impatient for proceedings to begin.

by Anonymousreply 150September 19, 2022 10:16 AM

Wrong but I laughed, R145. You’re messy and I’m here for it.

Goodness knows this thread needs livening up.

by Anonymousreply 151September 19, 2022 10:17 AM

R144- i would expect something like that on lady Louise not a first lady

by Anonymousreply 152September 19, 2022 10:17 AM

I think Xi of China just showed up WEARING A MASK!!!!!

by Anonymousreply 153September 19, 2022 10:17 AM

LOL! China arrived and is the only one wearing a bloody mask! Typical.

by Anonymousreply 154September 19, 2022 10:17 AM

[Quote]Nothing to do with Biden being arrogant, [R133]. Our security forces set the rules.

As did other countries' security forces but they were denied. Let's face it Joe can't climb in or out of a bus.

by Anonymousreply 155September 19, 2022 10:17 AM

The American red carpet commentators are not getting much imput from the arrivals.

by Anonymousreply 158September 19, 2022 10:18 AM

How about we can the Harry & Meghan snark.

Today ISN'T about them, it's about the Queen Mum.

by Anonymousreply 159September 19, 2022 10:18 AM

GB News said they are the Lord Mayor of Westminster and his wife, r158

by Anonymousreply 160September 19, 2022 10:19 AM

BoJo and his baby mama are here!

by Anonymousreply 161September 19, 2022 10:19 AM

The Queen Mum is dead with years you fool R159

by Anonymousreply 162September 19, 2022 10:19 AM

I agree, R159. I can't stand Meghan but am in no mood to focus on her today.

by Anonymousreply 163September 19, 2022 10:19 AM

It's not about the Queen Mum, either, but your heart is in the right place, r159.

by Anonymousreply 164September 19, 2022 10:19 AM

Boris Johnson combed one hair out of respect.

by Anonymousreply 165September 19, 2022 10:19 AM

R105, I would imagine that most stay at their embassies, the Bidens are. I know the European royalty are staying at Buckingham Palace and the foreign royalty are staying at Claridge’s.

by Anonymousreply 166September 19, 2022 10:20 AM

Today would be a great day to be a housebreaker in Greater London

by Anonymousreply 167September 19, 2022 10:20 AM

Jill Biden’s hair thingy is embarrassing. That woman is as allergic to dignity as her predecessor. Mutton thinks it’s lamb.

by Anonymousreply 168September 19, 2022 10:20 AM

MEghan will be, at this very moment, pitching a fit in the car over the veil situation

by Anonymousreply 169September 19, 2022 10:20 AM

Boris Johnson's side piece has outdone Jill Biden in bad headwear.

by Anonymousreply 170September 19, 2022 10:21 AM

I didn’t want to mention how the headband isn’t age-appropriate, R152, but even Lady Louise would look silly with that particular style of headband.

Boris Johnson’s wife had top cleavage and a horrid hat.

Tony Blair doesn’t seem to remember he and Cherie arrived together.

by Anonymousreply 171September 19, 2022 10:21 AM

Ru Paul just arrived.

She heard something about a Queen and a show.

by Anonymousreply 172September 19, 2022 10:21 AM

BBC has wonderful coverage. Their main anchor just told they will speak as little as possible during so people can listen and because it is respectful way to broadcast.

by Anonymousreply 173September 19, 2022 10:21 AM

WTF was up with the logjam of former prime ministers at the door? And the functionary keeping them from coming in?

by Anonymousreply 174September 19, 2022 10:21 AM

GBN asks: What is the Collective Noun for a group of Prime Ministers?

Lol. "A Gaggle of PM's"

by Anonymousreply 175September 19, 2022 10:21 AM

R169, do you suppose she will do the full veil the way Mrs. Simpson did? I would plotz.

by Anonymousreply 176September 19, 2022 10:22 AM

Who's this lot then?

by Anonymousreply 177September 19, 2022 10:22 AM

They had to be lined up in a specific order apparently, r174. It was like herding cats.

by Anonymousreply 178September 19, 2022 10:22 AM

Blair needs to do one.

by Anonymousreply 179September 19, 2022 10:23 AM

r176 She'll be fighting to wear one because it implies closeness to the Monarch, and so will elevate her status at the funeral.

by Anonymousreply 180September 19, 2022 10:23 AM

MSNBC's Morning Joe is broadcasting from the UK.

Joe, Mika and Willie are all in London right now, doing their show from outside Westminster Abbey!

by Anonymousreply 181September 19, 2022 10:24 AM

Macron looks very handsome

by Anonymousreply 182September 19, 2022 10:24 AM

R171, and her hair streaming loose as if she were going to a picnic or something. Reminds me of those Republican women like Guilfoyle and Ivanka who must be sexy no matter WHAT.

by Anonymousreply 183September 19, 2022 10:24 AM

The PM has a jaunty little step. On further inspection, she walks a bit to the side.

A keyhole cutout isn’t appropriate but she has a nice shape.

by Anonymousreply 184September 19, 2022 10:25 AM

by Anonymousreply 186September 19, 2022 10:25 AM

by Anonymousreply 187September 19, 2022 10:25 AM

Meghan should faint in the aisle, so all the cameras will focus on her!

That would be hilarious.

by Anonymousreply 188September 19, 2022 10:27 AM

There's a terrible Hitchcock movie with Charles Laughton called "Jamaica Inn," where Laughton played a crazy person who walked around with this weird lilt that made him look "special."

Liz Truss walks the same way.

by Anonymousreply 189September 19, 2022 10:27 AM

by Anonymousreply 190September 19, 2022 10:28 AM

by Anonymousreply 200September 19, 2022 10:31 AM

So if the Royal Family is going to walk behind the coffin... is Camilla with a broken toe going to have to walk?? In high heels????

Seriously, though, the comic highlight of the procession is going to be Meg's high spike heels.

by Anonymousreply 205September 19, 2022 10:31 AM

Governor-General, R198.

by Anonymousreply 206September 19, 2022 10:31 AM

This American is admiring the hell out of the pageantry of honoring the Queen. Very impressive.

by Anonymousreply 207September 19, 2022 10:32 AM

Yes the Canadian, NZ and Aussie PM's just arrived.

by Anonymousreply 208September 19, 2022 10:32 AM

I guess I didn't realize that Charles would be in full king regalia, hat and all.

by Anonymousreply 209September 19, 2022 10:32 AM

What’s with the sand on the roadways? Is there a functional purpose to it?

by Anonymousreply 210September 19, 2022 10:33 AM

Prince Michael of Kent and his bro arrived!

by Anonymousreply 211September 19, 2022 10:34 AM

I wonder if this is the biggest funeral in the history of the world? I can't think of another one, even very important ones, which had these numbers and this degree of pageantry.

I mean this. Can anyone think of a larger one?

by Anonymousreply 212September 19, 2022 10:34 AM

I also didn't expect to hear woos from the crowd as the king approached the funeral of his mother.

by Anonymousreply 213September 19, 2022 10:34 AM

The sand is for the horses.

by Anonymousreply 214September 19, 2022 10:34 AM

Well, whoever planned this must have thought a lot of themselves

by Anonymousreply 215September 19, 2022 10:34 AM

by Anonymousreply 220September 19, 2022 10:35 AM

by Anonymousreply 226September 19, 2022 10:36 AM

Especially considering where she came from.

The only American, as well.

by Anonymousreply 227September 19, 2022 10:37 AM

by Anonymousreply 239September 19, 2022 10:38 AM

R225, yes he was, in the front seat. Harry got out and met the Lord Chamberlain with Charles and William. They just showed it on the BBC feed.

by Anonymousreply 240September 19, 2022 10:38 AM

by Anonymousreply 254September 19, 2022 10:42 AM

Katty Kay is being such a bitch on MSNBC.

Joe Scarborough just announced Camilla entering the church, and Katty said "Yes, Camilla is there, followed by The Princess of Wales."

She refused to identify her as the Queen Consort. But she called Kate the Princess of Wales.

It's weird how Brits really seem to dig in with their opinions on the BRF, and they really don't let it go.

by Anonymousreply 255September 19, 2022 10:42 AM

by Anonymousreply 261September 19, 2022 10:44 AM

The flower wreath on the coffin is gorgeous, but I thought such flowers are always white?

by Anonymousreply 262September 19, 2022 10:44 AM

A moment in history, one that will resound down the ages.

And Meghan Markle thought she could shake up and modernise this institution.

You yanks are some dumb c**ts

by Anonymousreply 263September 19, 2022 10:45 AM

They're so haunting and beautiful!

by Anonymousreply 266September 19, 2022 10:46 AM

How are the crown, scepter, and orb attached to the coffin? They can't be free to roll around!

OMG what a show!

by Anonymousreply 267September 19, 2022 10:46 AM

Oh, the pipes.

by Anonymousreply 268September 19, 2022 10:46 AM

by Anonymousreply 278September 19, 2022 10:49 AM

by Anonymousreply 283September 19, 2022 10:50 AM

by Anonymousreply 284September 19, 2022 10:51 AM

Think of all that thick uncut cock in the Royal Navy etc.

Trudeau is extending his stay.

by Anonymousreply 285September 19, 2022 10:51 AM

by Anonymousreply 286September 19, 2022 10:51 AM

by Anonymousreply 287September 19, 2022 10:52 AM

by Anonymousreply 288September 19, 2022 10:53 AM

R285 It is wrong time but I think all those trained men and their bodies. I am ashamed.

by Anonymousreply 289September 19, 2022 10:53 AM

R284, procession began at Westminster Hall, heading to the Abbey. A short walk normally.

by Anonymousreply 290September 19, 2022 10:53 AM

Harry should have got his hair cut. Dreadful.

by Anonymousreply 291September 19, 2022 10:54 AM

This is the most gorgeous parade I've ever seen in my life!

But WTF is up with half the navy people doing the pulling, and half being attached to the rear of the carriage, slowing down the carriage instead of helping pull?

by Anonymousreply 292September 19, 2022 10:54 AM

Is Wills marching? I can't see him

by Anonymousreply 293September 19, 2022 10:54 AM

You bet Andrew is tearing up, this is his last hurrah. Charles squashes him after this.

by Anonymousreply 294September 19, 2022 10:54 AM

A Queen surrounded by se(a)men

by Anonymousreply 295September 19, 2022 10:54 AM

Never mind. Wills is to the right of Harry.

by Anonymousreply 296September 19, 2022 10:55 AM

The coordination and choreography that goes into an event like this, is simply remarkable.

And the discipline.

I'm in awe.

by Anonymousreply 297September 19, 2022 10:55 AM

This will be a long and tense walk for these men.

by Anonymousreply 298September 19, 2022 10:56 AM

Katty Kay explained it on MSNBC.

98 up front and 50 something in back, to serve as the "brakes" for the carriage, when they're going downhill.

by Anonymousreply 303September 19, 2022 10:58 AM

Can you begin to imagine if they did

by Anonymousreply 304September 19, 2022 10:59 AM

Every time I am called upon to be a pallbearer, it is THE most terrifying moment, and these chaps are doing it in front of billions of viewers. Well done to them.

by Anonymousreply 305September 19, 2022 10:59 AM

I hope they scuffed the bottom of their shoes for this. Wouldn't want any slippage on that thousand-year smoothed Abbey stone

What was the guy saying over and over? All I got was ".....coming through."

by Anonymousreply 307September 19, 2022 11:00 AM

This really is something.

It hearkens back to the Middle Ages.

Probably similar to the funerals for Henry VIII and Elizabeth I.

History in the making.

by Anonymousreply 308September 19, 2022 11:00 AM

I always forget the BRF is likely high church. The service is giving hints of an RC funerary Mass.

by Anonymousreply 309September 19, 2022 11:01 AM

This royal throne of kings, this sceptered isle

This earth of majesty, this seat of Mars

This other Eden, demi-paradise

This fortress built by nature for herself against infection and the hand of war

This happy breed of men, this little world

This precious stone set in the silver sea

Which serves it in the office of a wall or as a moat defensive to a house

Against the envy of less happier lands

This blessed plot, this earth, this realm

this England

by Anonymousreply 310September 19, 2022 11:01 AM

What does the card on the coffin read?

by Anonymousreply 311September 19, 2022 11:01 AM

The coffin weights 250 kg

by Anonymousreply 312September 19, 2022 11:01 AM

Whoever is directing this is calling the shots with a real feel for the sweep and scale.

by Anonymousreply 313September 19, 2022 11:01 AM

He was saying "Bearer Party, [command]"

by Anonymousreply 314September 19, 2022 11:01 AM

Worst most dangerous pallbearer job! Not only are you performing in front of billions, but you've got the fucking crown jewels on top of the casket! Imagine being the pallbearer who beraks the Black Prince's Ruby, or the Koohinoor!

The crown jewels are attacked to the coffin somehow, though. When the coffin wobbles a little, the orb doesn't roll off.

by Anonymousreply 315September 19, 2022 11:02 AM

George with William, Camilla with Charles

by Anonymousreply 316September 19, 2022 11:03 AM

I spy Meghan!

by Anonymousreply 317September 19, 2022 11:03 AM

I'm just putting it out there, several of the young guards that are the royal pallbearers in red are very handsome.

by Anonymousreply 318September 19, 2022 11:03 AM

Little George was walkiong next to Wills. Didn't see him!

by Anonymousreply 319September 19, 2022 11:03 AM

Thomas Tallis?

by Anonymousreply 320September 19, 2022 11:03 AM

I knew the PssoW and the Duchess of Sussex would come through.

Spectacular.

by Anonymousreply 321September 19, 2022 11:03 AM

Poor George... a lot must be dawning on him today in particular.

by Anonymousreply 322September 19, 2022 11:03 AM

Charlotte is there too.

by Anonymousreply 323September 19, 2022 11:04 AM

I just admit that Charles looks the part. And Anne makes me a little swoony.

by Anonymousreply 324September 19, 2022 11:04 AM

This must be an incredible adventure for George and Charlotte.

What an experience for them that they'll never forget.

by Anonymousreply 325September 19, 2022 11:05 AM

Do my eyes deceive me or are Meghan and Harry NOT HOLDING HANDS

by Anonymousreply 326September 19, 2022 11:05 AM

I wonder what would happen if either the crown, scepter, or orb fell off the coffin. Nothing like a billion pounds worth of jewels hitting the ground.

by Anonymousreply 327September 19, 2022 11:05 AM

Has Camilla taken something? She looks confused.

by Anonymousreply 328September 19, 2022 11:05 AM

Does Harry get it now?!

by Anonymousreply 329September 19, 2022 11:05 AM

This is incredible.

by Anonymousreply 330September 19, 2022 11:05 AM

Exactly, R329.

Over 1000 years of tradition and history.

And I'm a Sussex fan.

by Anonymousreply 331September 19, 2022 11:06 AM

Harry is never going to get it, r329

by Anonymousreply 332September 19, 2022 11:07 AM

The flowers are just perfect. They are not at all what I expected, but they’re wonderful. They seem almost like a wildflower garden, not fussy and formal. Kudos to the queen who arranged them for the Queen.

by Anonymousreply 333September 19, 2022 11:07 AM

There was a bug on the card on those flowers! lol. Some florist is freaking out!

by Anonymousreply 334September 19, 2022 11:07 AM

The card was signed by Charles.

by Anonymousreply 336September 19, 2022 11:08 AM

From the Guardian R333:

The wreath of flowers atop the Queen’s coffin includes rosemary for remembrance; myrtle, the ancient symbol of a happy marriage, and cut from a plant that was grown from a sprig of myrtle in the Queen’s wedding bouquet in 1947; and English oak, which symbolises the strength of love.

Also included are scented pelargoniums; garden roses; autumnal hydrangea; sedum; dahlias; and scabious, all in shades of gold, pink and deep burgundy, with touches of white, to reflect the Royal Standard, on which it sits.

At the King’s request, the wreath is made in a sustainable way, in a nest of English moss and oak branches, and without the use of floral foam.

Poor Camilla looks to have been struggling quite a bit during the entire 10 days. I assume it's because of her toe along with the general sadness and stress.

The sermon is on.

Bathroom break!

by Anonymousreply 344September 19, 2022 11:11 AM

I'm not big on church services.

How long will this last, so I can come back when it's over?

by Anonymousreply 345September 19, 2022 11:11 AM

R333, all week the flowers have been picked a various gardens (Balmoral, Windsor.). I bet this is the same. (And a trend the flower wholesalers will hate.)

by Anonymousreply 346September 19, 2022 11:11 AM

Tired. Very, very tired.

So many events in the past 10 days.

Even Kate mentioned how tired they all are.

If Camilla croaks after this, it would be very strange.

by Anonymousreply 349September 19, 2022 11:12 AM

Gosh, I think the flowers are ugly. Just a mishmash, symbolic though they might be. I don’t like the color scheme and think they clash with the Royal Standard.

by Anonymousreply 350September 19, 2022 11:13 AM

After William, they've gone birth order with seating the grandchildren.

by Anonymousreply 351September 19, 2022 11:13 AM

Thank you for that, r337. I loved the bit about the myrtle. And love how it’s just a bit wild and sprawly. Very much appreciating them.

by Anonymousreply 358September 19, 2022 11:15 AM

Edward, Sophie and Andrew are all in tears.

White handkerchiefs wiping their eyes.

by Anonymousreply 359September 19, 2022 11:16 AM

by Anonymousreply 363September 19, 2022 11:18 AM

She's the Secretary General of the Commonwealth, R362.

by Anonymousreply 364September 19, 2022 11:18 AM

R362, she is Baroness Scotland of Asthal, Secretary General of the Commonwealth.

[quote] Who's the lady with the fabulous voice and African print drape?

Baroness Scotland (as 364 pointed out) is Secretary General of the Commonwealth.

Her Wiki has a funny story:

"Scotland resides in London and in Asthal, where she and her husband Richard Mawhinney, also a barrister, live with their two sons.

Scotland's son Matthew Mawhinney has appeared on the reality series Too Hot to Handle. In 2021 he was arrested and fined for abusing cabin crew on a British Airways flight, including shouting "Look up who my mum is – Baroness Scotland ... go and get me a drink" after being refused alcohol."

LOL. He's cute, too!

At least the Church of England respects LGBT people as far as I know.

I think that's why William and Kate brought their two kids.

Then they wouldn't have to sit next to Harry and Meghan.

Seriously.

I guarantee there will be articles about this seating arrangement in the coming days.

by Anonymousreply 401September 19, 2022 11:31 AM

by Anonymousreply 403September 19, 2022 11:31 AM

Welby is very good.

by Anonymousreply 404September 19, 2022 11:31 AM

"I like Justin Welby"

Welby turned to religion after the death of his daughter. Reeks of mental instability and not the best reason for adopting a faith.

by Anonymousreply 405September 19, 2022 11:32 AM

Harry was never going to be in the front row. He's lucky they let him attend at all.

by Anonymousreply 406September 19, 2022 11:32 AM

There are two front rows, King Charles is in the first seat in the first front row, Prince William is in the first seat of the second front row. Harry is back in the second row with Beatrice and Eugenie. That makes sense.

by Anonymousreply 407September 19, 2022 11:33 AM

Harry always looks so self-pitying. Is that what “face like a slapped arse” means?

Charlotte is perfectly self-possessed, as expected.

by Anonymousreply 408September 19, 2022 11:33 AM

r402 I thought the exact same thing: Kate's done it AGAIN. Another epic shot of her looking hauntingly beautiful.

by Anonymousreply 412September 19, 2022 11:35 AM

It’s nice that the Tindalls are beside William and Kate. I think they are solid allies. Mike Tindall (like Sophie and Vice Admiral Lawrence) has made a real success of his place in the RF. They all seem to like him, and yet he always seems to be authentically himself.

by Anonymousreply 413September 19, 2022 11:35 AM

[quote]Why is Harry in the second row right behind Chuck and the rest of the grandchildren sit front row next to William and Kate? Wasn't he allowed in the front row? I would have expected him to sit next to William.

Actually, they should be happy with the seating arrangements. With lots of camera shots of Charles, there will be lots of camera time for H & M.

by Anonymousreply 414September 19, 2022 11:35 AM

[quote] Britons, is her accent a wee bit downmarket? At least compared to previous PMs?

R383 with the exception of a year spent in British Columbia she grew up in Scotland to English parents. Truss attended Oxford (God only knows how this dimwit was accepted), but when she speaks she seems to be struggling to contain …. Estuary English?.

by Anonymousreply 415September 19, 2022 11:36 AM

R413, he probably thinks he's at a wedding moreso than a funeral. Wondering where the cake is and such.

by Anonymousreply 416September 19, 2022 11:36 AM

Seriously, is Camilla on something? She’s literally nodding off.

by Anonymousreply 417September 19, 2022 11:36 AM

That anthem's not getting an extended dance remix, I can tell you that.

by Anonymousreply 418September 19, 2022 11:36 AM

if you look at who all are in the "two front rows," you'll see that having George and Charlotte attend the service was completely strategic.

Without those two kids in attendance, Harry and Meghan would have to have been in the front row.

The others manage to look like they're grieving, Harry looks like he's feeling sorry for himself. And Camilla looks like she took a fistful of painkillers before putting on her high heels, that broken toe has to be fucking killing her after a week of nonstop high-heel events!

I loved seeing Edward flutter his hanky around while he got upset, he's like our representative! It's a pity they didn't let him wear a black gown and pearls, since they let Anne wear her man's uniform.

by Anonymousreply 424September 19, 2022 11:39 AM

R415, Truss left Scotland when she was 10 years old. She grew up in Leeds. Her accent is a North of England accent, but has been toned down, presumably through voice training. She has certainly deepened the tone of her voice, in the same way that Thatcher did.

by Anonymousreply 425September 19, 2022 11:39 AM

Ridiculous, r419. Harry will never be front row ever again. Just like at the Jubilee. What I want to know is who is sitting directly behind him. Last time the family put Johnny in the Kilt to keep a Firm Eye on those two twats.

by Anonymousreply 426September 19, 2022 11:39 AM

by Anonymousreply 432September 19, 2022 11:41 AM

[quote]Louis is four, [R437]. That's why he's not there.

He's also a total camera hog. The one force that could upstage the Duchess of Sulking.

by Anonymousreply 454September 19, 2022 11:49 AM

Still haven't glimpsed Fergie, can anyone advise her row?

by Anonymousreply 455September 19, 2022 11:50 AM

Hi r288

by Anonymousreply 456September 19, 2022 11:52 AM

Is it over yet?

by Anonymousreply 457September 19, 2022 11:52 AM

Is it over?

by Anonymousreply 458September 19, 2022 11:52 AM

R455, next to Huge. Second row. Somewhere behind the Wales.

by Anonymousreply 459September 19, 2022 11:52 AM

Also hugely thick glasses. she must be nearly blind.

by Anonymousreply 460September 19, 2022 11:53 AM

Will there be a Season 2 of this show?

by Anonymousreply 461September 19, 2022 11:53 AM

Glad you are here, Della.

by Anonymousreply 462September 19, 2022 11:53 AM

Between. Huge and Snowdon.

by Anonymousreply 463September 19, 2022 11:53 AM

Yeah, R461--it'd all about Charles.

by Anonymousreply 464September 19, 2022 11:53 AM

What about the foreign royals? Are they on the opposite side of the BRF?

by Anonymousreply 465September 19, 2022 11:53 AM

Thank you R459!

by Anonymousreply 466September 19, 2022 11:54 AM

R465, behind.

by Anonymousreply 467September 19, 2022 11:54 AM

Have they finished crapping on yet????

by Anonymousreply 468September 19, 2022 11:54 AM

Is the Queen really in there?

by Anonymousreply 469September 19, 2022 11:54 AM

And R463!

by Anonymousreply 470September 19, 2022 11:54 AM

Do the royals have to sit through this church service every Sunday?

I would hate it, and be bored out of my mind.

by Anonymousreply 471September 19, 2022 11:55 AM

No R465, I am wrong. Opposite. You can see the Danes and the Dutch front row opposite.

by Anonymousreply 472September 19, 2022 11:55 AM

No, I think they're opposite. I saw Princess Beatrix and King Felipe.

by Anonymousreply 473September 19, 2022 11:55 AM

Harry giving someone the stink-eye, probably William.

by Anonymousreply 474September 19, 2022 11:55 AM

Princess Trixie of the Netherlands is there with her son King Willem and his missus.

by Anonymousreply 475September 19, 2022 11:56 AM

Diana's funeral was definitely more entertaining. Elton John singing Candle in the Wind and Earl Spencer's speech and the church erupting in applause afterwards. This was boring.

by Anonymousreply 476September 19, 2022 11:56 AM

Why did Jill Biden choose to wear kitten ears as a headpiece?

by Anonymousreply 477September 19, 2022 11:56 AM

Harry looking around with a look of Oh Fuck What Have I Done

by Anonymousreply 478September 19, 2022 11:56 AM

Oh, it was Margrethe II that was dabbing away tears! Just saw the Norwegian king.

by Anonymousreply 479September 19, 2022 11:56 AM

A platinum jubilee and a funeral all in a matter of months.

Buckingham Palace staff have been BUSY.

And then... you're fired!

by Anonymousreply 480September 19, 2022 11:56 AM

Margrethe is there with her hot son.

by Anonymousreply 481September 19, 2022 11:57 AM

I bet they had to remove her knee-high boots from her luggage she wasn’t looking, R477.

by Anonymousreply 482September 19, 2022 11:58 AM

What's going on?

by Anonymousreply 483September 19, 2022 11:58 AM

R478 -- Harry/Meghan divorce rumours will probably be a thing in only a few weeks when he's back in the US. Harry knows he dun screwed himself out of a lot. Poor Archie and Lillibet.

by Anonymousreply 484September 19, 2022 11:58 AM

King of Spain at the end of the second row with the Norwegians.

by Anonymousreply 485September 19, 2022 11:58 AM

Did I glimpse hunky royal Arthur Chatto?

by Anonymousreply 486September 19, 2022 11:58 AM

Please don't fart during the minute of silence Joe

by Anonymousreply 487September 19, 2022 11:59 AM

Phillip selected nicer music for his service. Oh well.

Kate looks AMAZING.

by Anonymousreply 488September 19, 2022 11:59 AM

Here we go...... everyone sing for Charles!!!

by Anonymousreply 489September 19, 2022 12:00 PM

Pressed like garlic, R484.

Don’t you guys ever give up?

by Anonymousreply 490September 19, 2022 12:00 PM

Who here sang "God Save the Queen" every morning at school?

by Anonymousreply 491September 19, 2022 12:01 PM

God Save the King!

by Anonymousreply 492September 19, 2022 12:01 PM

Gawddd Save the Kiiiiing!!

by Anonymousreply 493September 19, 2022 12:01 PM

Charles isn't singing

by Anonymousreply 494September 19, 2022 12:01 PM

Really, Cams is looking borderline catatonic.

Fractures of the foot are painful, yes, but did she mix her meds with liquor?!?

by Anonymousreply 495September 19, 2022 12:01 PM

Of course Charles isn't singing. What's he suppose to sing? Gawd Save MEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE?

by Anonymousreply 496September 19, 2022 12:02 PM

Edward is tearful. I like him. The Good Son.

by Anonymousreply 497September 19, 2022 12:02 PM

A tear in Charles' eye

by Anonymousreply 498September 19, 2022 12:02 PM

Harry wasn't singing either!!!

HA!

by Anonymousreply 499September 19, 2022 12:02 PM

No shit, R494.

by Anonymousreply 500September 19, 2022 12:02 PM

Harry didn't sing either.

by Anonymousreply 501September 19, 2022 12:03 PM

Jeez, Charles and Camilla look ready to drop!

Like, dead.

by Anonymousreply 502September 19, 2022 12:03 PM

Ginger brat's lips barely moving during "God Save The King".... Wifey's not moving at all.

by Anonymousreply 503September 19, 2022 12:03 PM

Sleep, Dearie, Sleep

by Anonymousreply 504September 19, 2022 12:03 PM

Moving, this piper is making me cry

by Anonymousreply 505September 19, 2022 12:03 PM

Getting out of there apres service is going to be a nightmare!

by Anonymousreply 506September 19, 2022 12:04 PM

The Sussexes got their revenge!

Rofl.

by Anonymousreply 507September 19, 2022 12:04 PM

Love bagpipes.

by Anonymousreply 508September 19, 2022 12:04 PM

Goodbye Queen

by Anonymousreply 509September 19, 2022 12:04 PM

It's not like Meg knows the words to "God Save the King", R503.

by Anonymousreply 510September 19, 2022 12:04 PM

Me too. I remember that from Philip's funeral when they showed the piper walking down the hallway.

by Anonymousreply 511September 19, 2022 12:04 PM

Harry got too prominent of a position

by Anonymousreply 512September 19, 2022 12:04 PM

Albert of Monaco and the Hereditary whatever of Luxembourg!

by Anonymousreply 513September 19, 2022 12:05 PM

Well, that was....boring.

by Anonymousreply 514September 19, 2022 12:05 PM

Is that the queen’s personal piper who played outside her window every morning?

by Anonymousreply 515September 19, 2022 12:05 PM

How hard would it be to learn, R510?

by Anonymousreply 516September 19, 2022 12:05 PM

It's going to be a long day for the royal family... procession to Admiralty Arch, committal at Windsor, burial at Windsor.

by Anonymousreply 517September 19, 2022 12:06 PM

I remember when my grandfather died. I was 15. My father told me he didn't truly feel like an adult under after he buried his father.

by Anonymousreply 518September 19, 2022 12:06 PM

Albert of Monaco is present? What about Charlene?

by Anonymousreply 519September 19, 2022 12:06 PM

H & M refusing to sing God Save the King.

What CUNTS. They don't belong there.

by Anonymousreply 520September 19, 2022 12:06 PM

Someone was trying to leave, and they stopped him!

by Anonymousreply 521September 19, 2022 12:06 PM

Oh no . Fingers crossed again.

by Anonymousreply 522September 19, 2022 12:07 PM

Charles and Camilla need a vacation.

They look completely exhausted and worn.

by Anonymousreply 523September 19, 2022 12:07 PM

r514 it reminded me of going to church as a kid when church was more formal

by Anonymousreply 524September 19, 2022 12:07 PM

Who tried to leave R521?

by Anonymousreply 525September 19, 2022 12:08 PM

"The eyes of a nation will walk with them".

Britons got a bank holiday today. What ELSE do they have to do?????

by Anonymousreply 526September 19, 2022 12:09 PM

What is written on that card with the flower arrangements?

by Anonymousreply 527September 19, 2022 12:09 PM

I’m watching.. the organ music is creepy and reminds me of this

Offsite Link
by Anonymousreply 528September 19, 2022 12:09 PM

That was it? No casket dance?

by Anonymousreply 529September 19, 2022 12:10 PM

I couldn't tell, R525.

Someone about 10 rows back from Charles.

He started walking in the aisle, and the guard (and some other people) made him go back to his seat.

It was weird, but I swear I saw that.

by Anonymousreply 530September 19, 2022 12:10 PM

Of course twat Harry and whore stepped out behind the coffin before anyone else did.

by Anonymousreply 531September 19, 2022 12:10 PM

Do they still castrate the boys to keep their voices high? Or have the finally stopped doing that.

by Anonymousreply 532September 19, 2022 12:11 PM

[quote] What is written on that card with the flower arrangements?

I think that’s the envelope with the receipt from the florist.

by Anonymousreply 533September 19, 2022 12:11 PM

It's got to be hard to walk so slowly carrying that coffin.

by Anonymousreply 534September 19, 2022 12:11 PM

Kate looks fabulous. I bet Meghan is seething.

by Anonymousreply 535September 19, 2022 12:12 PM

Yes R532, but since everyone’s trans-ing these days it’s no longer considered controversial.

by Anonymousreply 536September 19, 2022 12:12 PM

Could you imagine dropping the Queen AND the crown jewels?!

by Anonymousreply 537September 19, 2022 12:12 PM

Nobody puts on a show like the Brits, but, in general, Anglican music is dreadful.

by Anonymousreply 538September 19, 2022 12:13 PM

The card says "Charles R."

I'm watching MSNBC and Katty Kay STILL refuses to say Queen Consort Camilla.

She is naming people in the lineup, and she called out "King Charles...." then she skipped calling out Camilla, and then went on to name Princess Anne and her husband.

It's so bizarre.

Why won't Katty Kay say Queen Consort Camilla????

by Anonymousreply 539September 19, 2022 12:13 PM

'Later in the afternoon, the bells of the Abbey are rung fully-muffled by the Westminster Abbey Company of Ringers in a peal of Stedman Caters, comprising 5096 changes.'

by Anonymousreply 540September 19, 2022 12:14 PM

the bow of the head is so powerful as an image. Respect.

by Anonymousreply 541September 19, 2022 12:14 PM

MARY!

by Anonymousreply 542September 19, 2022 12:15 PM

The card says "in loving and devoted memory."

Did they choose the pallbearers for eye candy?

by Anonymousreply 543September 19, 2022 12:15 PM

Steady on boys. almost there....

by Anonymousreply 544September 19, 2022 12:15 PM

Why do all the anchors on the American networks keep referring to Charles as “King of England”?

It’s like they’re in 1776.

by Anonymousreply 545September 19, 2022 12:15 PM

R532 the last castrato died in 1922.

by Anonymousreply 546September 19, 2022 12:16 PM

Katty has stated her boundaries re: Camilla the Catatonic.

by Anonymousreply 547September 19, 2022 12:16 PM

"In loving and devoted memory, Charles Rex"

by Anonymousreply 548September 19, 2022 12:17 PM

the lone bagpiper was the best part

by Anonymousreply 549September 19, 2022 12:17 PM

Second pallbearer on the left, behind the blond in front is the hottest!

by Anonymousreply 550September 19, 2022 12:17 PM

Charles looks 96 years old.

And they'd really better not give Cam her usual snort after the service, on top of all those painkillers, or she'll be ending the night getting her stomach pumped.

by Anonymousreply 551September 19, 2022 12:17 PM

THose wreath flowers are beautiful and colorful, but the purple-pink hue clashes dreadfully with the red-yellow color block of the royal standard on the coffin. Ugh

by Anonymousreply 552September 19, 2022 12:18 PM

yes, it is except for this..it’s magnificent r538

Offsite Link
by Anonymousreply 553September 19, 2022 12:18 PM

Fun fact: after delivering the coffin, the pallbearers will withdraw to a well-deserved group shower and sauna. I read this in the BBC schedule.

by Anonymousreply 554September 19, 2022 12:18 PM

So what's it like there in London, today, Brit DLers?

by Anonymousreply 555September 19, 2022 12:19 PM

Is there a live link that will be made available, R554?

by Anonymousreply 556September 19, 2022 12:19 PM

I love that purple crown but the flower arrangement looks a bit bedraggled

by Anonymousreply 557September 19, 2022 12:20 PM

Now I want a hundred sailors carting my coffin around when I die!

Oh well, I guess I'll just have to settle for the Viking funeral after all, flaming boat and all that.

by Anonymousreply 558September 19, 2022 12:21 PM

Looks as if the Naval Hauliers had short back and sides this morning.

by Anonymousreply 559September 19, 2022 12:21 PM

Lovely, touching service.

by Anonymousreply 560September 19, 2022 12:22 PM

There's the Mounties!

by Anonymousreply 561September 19, 2022 12:22 PM

MARY!

by Anonymousreply 562September 19, 2022 12:22 PM

Charles looks 96 years old, and I don't know how long he can keep on his feet. Anne's good for another 20 miles of marching, but he's gonna drop!

At least Cam gets to sit in a limo,

by Anonymousreply 563September 19, 2022 12:24 PM

I had a much bigger crowd.

by Anonymousreply 564September 19, 2022 12:24 PM

Incredible they have seamen and not horses pulling the gun carriage. Apparently it's because it's a State Funeral.

by Anonymousreply 565September 19, 2022 12:24 PM

The mounties are leading. Crazy. I think those horses were given to the Queen by the RCMP.

by Anonymousreply 566September 19, 2022 12:24 PM

Matt Bradley the idiot on MSNBC just called King Charles, "King George III."

Rofl.

by Anonymousreply 567September 19, 2022 12:26 PM

So much respect coming from the crowd. All I hear is the band, absolutely no cheering.

by Anonymousreply 568September 19, 2022 12:26 PM

Women look like shit in uniform.

THERE. I SAID IT!

by Anonymousreply 569September 19, 2022 12:26 PM

You guys have to get off the American channels.

by Anonymousreply 570September 19, 2022 12:26 PM

Princess Anne rocks the uniform though, R569.

by Anonymousreply 571September 19, 2022 12:27 PM

No, you didn't R564.

by Anonymousreply 572September 19, 2022 12:27 PM

Passing by the statue of her beloved first Prime Minister, Winston Churchill.

by Anonymousreply 573September 19, 2022 12:27 PM

"Incredible they have seamen and not horses pulling the gun carriage."

Apparently at Queen Victoria's funeral, they were all set to have a team of horses pull the coffin carriage, but a hundred sailors said they wanted to have the honor. So they unhitched the horses and took ahold of the traces, and it's been a tradition ever since.

by Anonymousreply 574September 19, 2022 12:27 PM

Haaa...I thought I was hearing things r567.....he really did call him King George

by Anonymousreply 575September 19, 2022 12:27 PM

r570 is correct, I've been watching the Sky TV live feed on YouTube all morning.

by Anonymousreply 576September 19, 2022 12:27 PM

Does anyone know what piece of music they are marching to?

by Anonymousreply 577September 19, 2022 12:28 PM

Jesus, QEII is back already!

V

by Anonymousreply 578September 19, 2022 12:28 PM

What do you mean "her" beloved PM, R573?

by Anonymousreply 579September 19, 2022 12:28 PM

R578 for R580

by Anonymousreply 581September 19, 2022 12:29 PM

What do you mean beloved, R573?

by Anonymousreply 582September 19, 2022 12:29 PM

Makes you proud to be British.

by Anonymousreply 583September 19, 2022 12:29 PM

r571. yes. Anne is the lone exception. She looks good but the other women in trousered uniforms look crap.

by Anonymousreply 584September 19, 2022 12:29 PM

So many Canadian military there.

by Anonymousreply 585September 19, 2022 12:30 PM

New thread needed in a few seconds here.

Christiane Amanpour talking about recipes right now on CNN? Wtf

by Anonymousreply 586September 19, 2022 12:30 PM

The horses apparently broke the straps connecting them to the carriage carrying Queen Victoria’s coffin and Prince Louis of Battenburg (?) offered up the naval guard.

SkyNews for the win.

by Anonymousreply 587September 19, 2022 12:30 PM

It's Anne's mannish visage that aids in pulling off the uniform.

by Anonymousreply 588September 19, 2022 12:31 PM

Here's a link to Part 2, if needed.

Offsite Link
by Anonymousreply 589September 19, 2022 12:31 PM

How far is this procession going to go?

by Anonymousreply 590September 19, 2022 12:31 PM

I have to say those Navy men in uniform are so sexy.

by Anonymousreply 591September 19, 2022 12:32 PM

I may be alone in not really caring for Anne's uniform. It's not ornamental enough, especially that little hat. I recommend ostrich feathers.

by Anonymousreply 592September 19, 2022 12:32 PM

r582 QII loved and adored Churchill, he was always thought to be her favorite PM. He treated her like a daughter as well as a monarch, trained and guided her as her first PM. She sat thru his entire funeral in 1965, didn't pull queenly rank by leaving early or first. SHowed him enormous respect with a full state funeral for him.

by Anonymousreply 593September 19, 2022 12:32 PM

Go to BBC, Sky or one of the Canadian channels, R586. Americans can't cover this properly.

by Anonymousreply 594September 19, 2022 12:32 PM

That William snaps a mean salute.

by Anonymousreply 595September 19, 2022 12:32 PM

r587, So when Charles’ turn comes he’ll be tugged off by a bunch of sailors?

by Anonymousreply 596September 19, 2022 12:33 PM

I don't like the hat either, R592.

by Anonymousreply 597September 19, 2022 12:33 PM

Great job on this first thread everyone. On to Part II - it's going to be a long day with lots more to come, we'll be doing several of these threads I believe. Very organized - just like the British!

by Anonymousreply 598September 19, 2022 12:34 PM

R586 R594 - I watched through ITV and then since after the actual funeral, the BBC. Both were excellent and top notch. I wouldn't touch American coverage if you paid me.

by Anonymousreply 599September 19, 2022 12:34 PM

I prefer to skip it and just read the coverage here r594.

You bitches don't miss a thing and make if endlessly fascinating.

by Anonymousreply 600September 19, 2022 12:35 PM

Will the family service be televised?

by Anonymousreply 601September 19, 2022 12:35 PM

I've switched between BBC and CBC, R599. Both excellent. CNN is a joke. They should stick to things they know, like presidential inaugurations and US election coverage. World events are not their thing and the international experts they bring on have to cater to the American audience.
