I did not know that. I thought he was great in Atlantic City and Rocket Gibraltar.

Burt Lancaster was a lifelong Democrat.

A great actor and movie star who produced his own pictures and was a free agent. He was very hearty and robust and athletic but the last 15 years of his life were marred by numerous ailments including heart attacks and a stroke. There’s your answer OP.

He wanted to do Old Gringo with Jane Fonda but they couldn't cover his insurance. Gregory Peck got the part. .

I never liked him, he always seemed angry. Wasn't crazy about his looks, either. Add Charleton Heston to my list as well. Nothing there with either one.

R5 Yes, He seemed angry and bitter

by Anonymousreply 6September 10, 2022 6:18 AM

You’re a cookie full of arsenic, OP.

by Anonymousreply 7September 10, 2022 7:48 AM

Examples?

by Anonymousreply 8September 10, 2022 7:50 AM

Wasn’t it something to do with Stephane Powers, or was that William Holden?

by Anonymousreply 9September 10, 2022 10:39 AM

You know how bitchy fags can be.

by Anonymousreply 10September 10, 2022 11:03 AM

There are no examples r8, because OP makes things up and posts them and a bunch of gullible Dataloungers dutifully reply, because everything they read must be true.

by Anonymousreply 11September 10, 2022 11:45 AM

^ Shouldn't you be watching Fox News and wearing your tin foil hat...

by Anonymousreply 12September 10, 2022 11:52 AM

OP, there's a big difference between complaining about some trifle and being BITTER.

by Anonymousreply 13September 10, 2022 12:15 PM

R9 William Holden

by Anonymousreply 14September 10, 2022 1:13 PM

He never got over Monty.

Guess what - you do become bitter when you are old. Some people get mellow and some people become bitter or more bitter than they were. I'm getting old (I'm in the gay world i'm ancient) and I am bitter and grouchy for many reasons. I won't go into them, it can be a surprise for you when you become old, let just say that having to pee all the time can make anyone bitter and annoyed.

R16 Right on soul sister. Waking up at 5:30 am because I need to urinate and then not being able to fall back to sleep sucks. There’s a lot—to say the least—as you know.

by Anonymousreply 17September 10, 2022 2:27 PM

He probably had an alkaline pH of 7-14.

by Anonymousreply 18September 10, 2022 2:34 PM

Who isn't.

Burt Lancaster was incredibly talented, ambitious and attractive, and he seemed to thrive making the films he wanted to make over quite a long period of time. Age eventually robs you of the health and vitality needed to continue and perhaps he was pissed he couldn't just keep going?

I think he's reliably very good in most of his films which cover a very wide swath of dramas. He took more chances than most actors ever did.

When his glorious ass finally started to sag...it was too much for him.
