I don’t remember her being as huge in the 90s as they say in the video. Also doesn’t she just have a small but pivotal part in presumed innocent? It seems Bonnie bedelia had the more interesting female role in that one. I did love her and her looks in White Mischief and she was fine in The Player too. Seems she did not want to discuss Emma in the op’s clip- I wonder if that’s because of Weinstein.

Scacchi was the follow-up to Nastassia Kinski as Hollywood's beautiful European starlet dujour, that was, for a year or two in a ton of high profile features and then when she didn't become a breakout star it all ended as quickly as it began.

I would say there were a good ten years gap between Kinski and Scacchi, but yes, they're dime a dozen. Binoche is another. Still, Scacchi seemed to fill a void in the classy department. She was a bit like a less harsh looking Sigourney. I wonder if the "cousin" thing crushed her clout in town

Binoche and Sacchi truly do not belong in the same sentence. Blue alone puts Binoche in a different league and that was at the beginning of her career. She’s worked as much as she wants in French cinema and regularly in Hollywood, for almost 40 years.

In White Mischief she was the most beautiful woman I have ever seen. Stunning. perfection. Why is this movie never discussed FYI? Can’t find it anywhere except old SF versions on YT. Granted the subject matter (Happy valley in the days of colonialism) isn’t PC but it’s an iconic movie . So much great fashion and eccentricity

James Ivory suggested her to Luca Guadagnino to play Timothee’s mother in CMBYN. Ivory loved her and had worked with her and she speaks Italian. Luca agreed. Then, after Luca froze Ivory out, Greta was out, too. He replaced her with the thoroughly unmemorable Amira Casar.

I don't know how Greta would have done in the role, but Amira Casar was rather bland.

Leila George, the daughter of Scacchi and D'Onofrio, is lucky that Greta's genes are obviously dominant. Leila played young Smurf in the "Animal Kingdom" TV series that just had a series finale last week.

I think Scacchi was a beauty, and I think she still looks good, but I think her most important asset was her charisma. She just had IT when she was making her biggest movies. It was impossible to take your eyes off her.

Last thing I saw her in was a small part in the Emma T/Ben W "Brideshead Revisited" currently streaming on Pluto.

I read this whole thread, before I realized I had Greta Scacchi confused with Virginia Madsen.

I just watched a couple episodes of Darby and Joan, an Australian series with Bryan Brown that was recommended on here. (Acorn) They play a middle-aged couple driving around in an RV--some beautiful locations--she's trying to find out why her husband of 40 years died in Australia when he told her he was in Spain. That's the overarching mystery but every episode they deal with smaller, unfortunately less interesting ones. She and Brown really work well together and I wish the writing was better. She looks great.

I loved 'White Mischief', and the scene where Scacchi and Charles Dance are kissing in the water really turned me on.

It is sort of strange that she didn't settle into British work, even a Midsomer Murders type show.
