This is deliciously written, full of shade but deniability, so no one can play victim. The Mandela line alone is great, but the little things - like the parents at the school gate doing a double-take, making clear she’s not a regular presence; the office chairs displayed like two thrones - are just perfect.

I’ve been waiting for Harry and Meghan to really TRY to make a strategic play instead of flailing around so much. They are such self-involved nuts that it’s going to be fun. And here they go…

The writer knew she was being love-bombed to sing Meghan's praises. She knew the set-up was completely phony but she wanted to be fair and settled for rehashing the past with some scene-setting and nothing quotes. Any sane person who was not a moron would have been uncomfortable as hell in that setting.

Her good friend is Victoria Jackson. Very fitting that she should have her greatest affinity with a makeup artist.

I don’t think the silence around Harry’s book is due to delay. They have been holding their fire to try for a more strategic comeback rollout, likely starting with this piece and the release of Archetypes. They must have realized they fumbled the bag with Megxit.

I disagree with those saying she's not unhinged. She is the most floridly personality-disordered public figure in the world with the exception of Donald Trump. I'm sure there are lots of public figures who are much more disordered in a low-key way (such as psychopaths and smarter narcissists than she) but it's clear that she has no grasp of reality, i.e. she's unhinged.

Several years ago when it came to light that Meghan was dating Harry, I said on DL that if he married her it would be a mistake that she was totally unsuited for royal life. Do you mean online? Because people on here used the n-word, so it's not like it hasn't happened online. The entire quote sounds to me like she's saying both the public and the media include people who use the slur about her and her kids, but she's always imprecise with her words, so I can't be sure. I know people say her statements are all rehearsed but they don't seem that way to me, they always need to be parsed and contextualized and even then you're having to guess what she meant.

The best plan is to sit back and just get on with life. Yes, Meghan will throw more dirt but each time she opens her mouth, she becomes less and less likeable and less and less believable.

She'll never stop being bitter but eventually she'll leave Harry cold in the dirt and move on.

That Telegraph article is one of the best I've read; it's frank but not jeering, has nuance, displays polls, and most of all, points up what so many of us have noted over the last two years: their leap to burn bridges before they knew what they could do in America was not only presumptuous, it was foolish. Now, they can't go back even if they wanted to.

I think they were badly advised by sycophants who told the Sussexes what they wanted to hear. In doing so, the American counterparts of those "courtiers" enabled the Sussexes to ignore the handwriting on the wall that good PR people would have insisted be considered: the polls on both sides of the Pond (including for the Cambridges); the failure of her book; the lack of real enthusiasm for their quasi-royal appearances; the booing at the Platinum Jubilee; the bored faces in the half-empty room at the UN; and, now, the universal jeering at the podcasts and the interview in The Cut.

The Williams podcast sank quickly, and episode by episode, Meghan didn't really "dethrone" Rogan. He didn't really have anything out that day. It's now down to #24. Those things are meaningless unless they tell the contractor that real money is being made.

One reason that the Sussexes are doubling down on their mistaken course is money, which the Telegraph article brings out. They have huge expenses, but in order to keep the money flowing in, they have to keep returning to the only brand the rest of the world is really interested in: their royal brand. As they burned any bridges back to becoming again part of the BRF fabric, they're forced to keep tilting at the Wind[sor]mill.

But over the longer term, it's serving them badly because they can't keep it up much longer, it's already played out even in America, never mind Britain, and they've been unable to move beyond it. Now, it's what they have to sell, and they need money, lots of it.

Hence the vicious backstabbing, astonishing lies, and veiled threats - and they just look sillier and lamer and more desperate with each throw of the malign dice.

It is truly fascinating. The Telegraph article is the best on the two that I've read yet because it ignores all the narcissism, jeering, partisanship, indignation - it simply drills down into what is the Sussex situation.
