Just - why?
Boz Scaggs
by Anonymous | reply 91 | March 27, 2024 2:58 AM |
Why what? He was kind of brief but classic for what he did.
by Anonymous | reply 2 | August 21, 2022 11:12 PM |
He was no Dr John.
by Anonymous | reply 3 | August 21, 2022 11:12 PM |
I had forgotten about him. His voice got on my nerves. He one time tried to give Amy Sedaris a hickey.
by Anonymous | reply 4 | August 21, 2022 11:17 PM |
Talented, cool.
by Anonymous | reply 6 | August 21, 2022 11:25 PM |
I love Breakdown Dead Ahead. This live version is great!
by Anonymous | reply 8 | August 21, 2022 11:36 PM |
No thank you
by Anonymous | reply 9 | August 21, 2022 11:40 PM |
Well, he's no Slim Whitman.
by Anonymous | reply 11 | August 21, 2022 11:54 PM |
Why Christopher Cross? Why Gary Wright?
Why, for that matter, Bob Welch?
by Anonymous | reply 12 | August 21, 2022 11:58 PM |
I think OP meant to ask: "Why Morris Albert; just why?"
by Anonymous | reply 13 | August 22, 2022 12:06 AM |
Not a great singing voice. Yacht rock.
by Anonymous | reply 14 | August 22, 2022 12:08 AM |
Quintessential late 70s.
by Anonymous | reply 15 | August 22, 2022 12:13 AM |
Exactly R7, one only need to hear lowdown to answer why. R14, yeah he kind of was yacht rock, but yacht rock is pretty good sometimes.
by Anonymous | reply 18 | August 22, 2022 12:33 AM |
He does not live in Maryland. He was born in Ohio.
by Anonymous | reply 19 | August 22, 2022 12:34 AM |
Why, oh why, oh why-o? Why did Boz ever leave Ohio?
by Anonymous | reply 20 | August 22, 2022 12:42 AM |
My mom LOVES him! I accompanied her to one of his concerts. I still can't name a song of his, save for, Lido Shuffle and Love Look What You've Done to Me, which I believe was a pretty big AC hit back in the day.
by Anonymous | reply 21 | August 22, 2022 12:45 AM |
Whenever I hear a rhapsody about “The Boss” (Springsteen), as an Ohioan I involuntarily and violently blurt out “oh, yeah? How’s about the Boz?!” I can’t tell you how many times this impulse results in my being pelted with garbage.
by Anonymous | reply 22 | August 22, 2022 12:46 AM |
You're a dumpster queen?
by Anonymous | reply 23 | August 22, 2022 12:47 AM |
He wrote and was the first to sing this classic sex anthem.
by Anonymous | reply 24 | August 22, 2022 1:00 AM |
I will love Boz Scaggs forever, if only for "We're All Alone". Brilliant. (Also, I believe he's lived in San Diego for many many years; he sings/sang at a local pub in the Gaslamp District.
by Anonymous | reply 25 | August 22, 2022 1:06 AM |
Why, Michael Bolton?
by Anonymous | reply 26 | August 22, 2022 1:16 AM |
He was hot in the 70's, very attractive then.
by Anonymous | reply 27 | August 22, 2022 1:18 AM |
Why Boz Scaggs? He's awesome.
Silk Degrees is a classic album. Wall-to-wall perfection, no filler.
Miss Sun is awesome. I saw him perform it in concert a few years ago and it was a terrific show.
by Anonymous | reply 29 | August 22, 2022 1:22 AM |
He was very much my type in the 70's - tall, thin, longish dark hair, blue/green eyes. Unfortunately he could be my grandpa but I can appreciate how he used to look. I love a few songs of his, for me the Silk Degrees album was his best.
by Anonymous | reply 30 | August 22, 2022 1:22 AM |
There were SO many kinds of pop music in the 70s This would be considered easy listening and would be played on stations called Lite FM or whatever. In Detroit we had WNIC. Box would be played alongside the Eagles, Steely Dan, Hall and Oates, Linda Ronstadt..,.People listened to radio a lot and most of it was music stations.
by Anonymous | reply 31 | August 22, 2022 1:28 AM |
Well he sure as hell was no Norman Greenbaum.
by Anonymous | reply 32 | August 22, 2022 1:29 AM |
I agree, R12
by Anonymous | reply 33 | August 22, 2022 1:50 AM |
Love my Boz. Get lost, OP.

by Anonymous | reply 38 | August 22, 2022 4:49 AM |
He's not a bad opening act.
by Anonymous | reply 39 | August 22, 2022 4:52 AM |
Somebody posted on the JoJo video that he was sleeping with the black female back up singer. Maybe why he and his wife called it quits.
by Anonymous | reply 40 | August 22, 2022 5:05 AM |
NOW a warning?
by Anonymous | reply 41 | August 22, 2022 5:47 AM |
R41 Agreed
by Anonymous | reply 42 | August 22, 2022 10:23 AM |
OP posting from a time and place where even 1% of the population knew or had heard of Boz Scaggs.
by Anonymous | reply 43 | August 22, 2022 10:57 AM |
That "Silk Degrees" album was a big seller and both "Lowdown" and "Lido Shuffle" were radio hits.
by Anonymous | reply 44 | August 22, 2022 11:03 AM |
Who was the back up singer? Clydie King?
by Anonymous | reply 45 | August 22, 2022 3:21 PM |
Boz was no MTV star, that's for sure.
by Anonymous | reply 46 | August 22, 2022 3:50 PM |
Y'all sure love your ELEVATOR MUSIC!
by Anonymous | reply 47 | August 22, 2022 4:31 PM |
Dirty low down
by Anonymous | reply 48 | August 23, 2022 3:21 AM |
He has a song on the Two Of A Kind soundtrack called The Perfect One. That and Lido Shuffle are my favorites.
by Anonymous | reply 50 | August 23, 2022 3:37 AM |
r49 I think you meant to post that in the tRUmp thread
by Anonymous | reply 51 | August 23, 2022 3:41 AM |
I just finally watched "Two of a Kind" I love "Twist of Fate" He also had that song in "Urban Cowboy" . Whenever I hear this song I think about Bud dancing with Madolyn Smith whilst Sissy gets beaten by Scott Glenn.
by Anonymous | reply 52 | August 23, 2022 3:42 AM |
He has been at it for 50 years /// stayed away from hopping on the next trend to have a hit // smart guy
by Anonymous | reply 53 | August 23, 2022 3:46 AM |
His album of standards “But, Beautiful” is gorgeous.
by Anonymous | reply 54 | August 23, 2022 3:57 AM |
Boz Scaggs tunes on Steve Miller Band's Children of the Future and Sailor albums are the best songs on the album for my money. Boz was better off on his own!
by Anonymous | reply 55 | August 23, 2022 4:22 AM |
He’s well into his seventies and still performs live. He plays pretty regularly at Hardly Strictly Bluegrass. If you click on the links in his artist’s page, you can listen to his performances.
by Anonymous | reply 56 | August 24, 2022 6:32 AM |
The OP sounds like he has a mental problem. Why pick on Boz Scaggs? He had a soulful voice and made good music.
by Anonymous | reply 57 | August 24, 2022 6:37 AM |
R57 I wasn't picking on him at all. I just said - why - as in, why do some of you like him, his music, etc. The responses have been very helpful.
by Anonymous | reply 58 | August 24, 2022 11:17 AM |
Can someone bring me up-to-date on this?
by Anonymous | reply 59 | August 24, 2022 11:27 AM |
We've reached out to Mr. Scaggs, but he has not returned our calls. He is performing tonight in Des Moines at Hoyt Sherman Place.
by Anonymous | reply 60 | August 24, 2022 12:02 PM |
Silk Degrees is one of the best albums ever
by Anonymous | reply 61 | August 24, 2022 12:43 PM |
It's Boss Scaggs
by Anonymous | reply 62 | August 24, 2022 12:53 PM |
Did you know that during the filming of Saturday Night Fever, the disco dancing sequences were filmed to the music of Boz and Stevie Wonder? The Bee Gees music was added in post-production.
Now you know!
by Anonymous | reply 63 | August 24, 2022 2:24 PM |
Boz Scuzz 👎
by Anonymous | reply 64 | August 24, 2022 2:31 PM |
R64 Why did Todd Rundgren hate Boz Scaggs so much?
by Anonymous | reply 65 | August 25, 2022 4:10 AM |
Bob welch kissing the girl is GROSS. I do like the song produced by Lindsey Buckingham and has Christine Mc vie on backround vocals.

by Anonymous | reply 71 | March 26, 2024 8:13 PM |
Very fond memories of Boz Scaggs and his great 'Silk Degrees.'
OP: Get lost.
by Anonymous | reply 72 | March 26, 2024 8:15 PM |
Boz Scaggs two follow up albums to Silk Degrees, Down Two Then Left (1977), and Middle Man (1980) where actually both very good. Maybe not to the level of Silk Degrees, but worht owning with excellent songs. After that he took a long hiatus until the late 1980s and sort of lost his creative muse and mojo.
by Anonymous | reply 74 | March 26, 2024 8:30 PM |
Come fucking on. That song "Low Down" is a great song. I love his name, too.
by Anonymous | reply 75 | March 26, 2024 8:35 PM |
The producers of Saturday Night Fever wanted to use Lowdown in the movie and the soundtrack, so did the producers of Looking for Mr. Goodbar. Scaggs didn’t think Fever would go anywhere so he choose Goodbar. A monumentally bad business decision. He made $50k for Goodbar. Had he said yes to Fever, he would’ve made $3 million by the end of 1979 from the soundtrack and film inclusion.
Boogie Shoes from KC and the Sunshine Band was a B side track in 1975 and when it was released as a singles after SNF it only made it to #35 on the charts but KC made a mint off of it because of Saturday Night Fever.
by Anonymous | reply 77 | March 26, 2024 9:08 PM |
Sadly, this became a theme song for me later in 1976.
by Anonymous | reply 78 | March 26, 2024 9:20 PM |
Was anyone here at Boz's Lincoln Center concert the night of the 1977 blackout?
by Anonymous | reply 79 | March 27, 2024 12:47 AM |
R79 Wasn't that the cause of the great blackout?
by Anonymous | reply 80 | March 27, 2024 12:57 AM |
I swear R77, I really thought that song " Low Down" was in Saturday Night Fever. Whenever I listen to it that's what I think of.
by Anonymous | reply 81 | March 27, 2024 1:39 AM |
I like a few of his songs.
Why not?
by Anonymous | reply 82 | March 27, 2024 1:41 AM |
Silk Degrees was a good album.
by Anonymous | reply 83 | March 27, 2024 1:45 AM |
