Stories Worth Telling Featuring Larry Randolph
Part 1 - Bea Arthur
Fans of Bea are encouraged to listen to this 3-part series by Larry. He was a dialogue coach on Aaron Spelling’s ABC series HOTEL. He formed a friendship with Bea through his friend Charles Pierce who was a female impersonator in his day. Eldergays may remember Mr. Pierce. Anyway, Larry recounts his relationship with Bea over the years which ran hot and cold.
Parts 2 and 3 follow. Enjoy.

These stories were told back in 2019. My favorite of the comments:
"Well that was 8 minutes of my life I’ll never get back for an anecdote that wasn’t worth telling. Christ almighty. It’s like he never heard a zinger in his life.
Memo to old queens: make it short, make it sharp, make it matter. For eight minutes it better be something that brings the ceiling down."
Randolph just seemed tiresome.

Does this end with him taking a dump in Bea's guest bath and not flushing?

Well, I'll be damned. It does.

Why was Bea so miserable and temperamental?

Lezzies aren’t usually known for their sunny dispositions.

R4 You seem like a huge asshole.
I'll take the sweet old theater pro relating charming anecdotes over your nasty sour personality any time...

R7 She's a neurotic actor. Arty types are frequently a bit much. A lot of them are narcissists or neurotics or manic depressives or oddballs.
If you read a lot about her, Bea was definitely neurotic with rather big mood swings but I don't think she was miserable all the time. And, I don't think she hated Betty...but, like many people she could have a love/hate relationship with people. And, to be honest, I think Betty White was also probably a bit much at times, too. Always eager to please people....that gets wearing after awhile.

R9: He's a pathetic old queen who didn't have much a career but tried make it seem like he had one anyway. Guys like him wind up in community theater boring people to death with their stories. In the past they had gigs introducing B-movies on UHF tv station--guys like Bill Kennedy in Detroit.

I tolerate long-windedness, including my own, with a good story, but that old thing did go on. Diary entries need not be recounted verbatim unless sex with a celebrity is involved.

Wow. Lot of nasty old cunts on here.
Gee, R11....how many conversations have you had with Elizabeth Taylor? How many Hollywood studios have you worked in?

R13: Regale us with your c-list celebrity stories....as for Larry his obit included a fake smile and bad toupee from his headshot and a ridiculous bio with lines like "summoned to Hollywood"., when it's clear that he clung to the edges of show business doing behind the stage stuff for dinner theater.

My god some of you eldergays are so vicious. I always like to hear non-celebrities share their stories of being friends with stars. Larry seemed like a sweet gentleman. RIP.

I remember the first time this was posted a few years ago when he was still alive and most of the guys here were not impressed.
They rightly called out how Bea was correct about the drink order.
I did think the Shelley Winters stuff was funny.
