Wendy has been a working actor for decades. She suffered through David Spade, and now suffers through Young Sheldon.

She's the female tv equivalent of Eve Arden and Thelma Ritter -- you see her in a program and you know you're going to enjoy her whenever she's on screen. Fred Willard used to be the male equivalent until he died.

I love her, too! Don't forget she was the Delicate Genius, too.

She's tall and gorgeous and thin. She's perfect!

I know not this "The Owl House" of which you speak, but I loved Wendie in Just Shoot Me. She was easily the best thing about that show.

Oh my god, I love “Just Shoot Me.”

“The Owl House” is a gay-positive Disney show in which Wendie plays a (reluctant?) role model. She and the show are both wonderful.

She was also Katy Mixon's mom on "American Housewife" and true to form played an ex flight attendant that knew where to find the boys and the booze!

She's a voice actress too, her voice is so distinctive. She voiced that evil blonde Barbie parody on the Bratz cartoon.

God she was freaking funny in Just Shoot Me. I remember some episode where she flashes her chest to a window washer outside her building and he falls from the shock or whatever. When she visits him in the hospital she reveals her chest again, only to send him into a coma; her reaction and facial expressions were out-of-this-world hilarious. Now that I think of it, I think she is probably one of my favorite comedic actresses ever.

Nina Van Horn was the best character ever written R15.

I first loved her as Charles's second wife in Kate & Allie. She drove poor Allie mad!

“Just Shoot Me” is on Hulu! What a wonderful blast from the 1990s past.

I've met her and she's quite delightful and cheeky in person.

However, I really didn't like her "Ronnie" character in FRASIER. I never bought that someone so saucy would be interested in crusty ancient gimp Martin Frasier, and it also felt like a retread of the Marsha Mason character from years earlier.

She and Christine Baransky age well and are always working. Work seems minimal, although being a former model helps.

I remember her as Camille Barbone in that TV movie of Madonna’s rise to fame.

I'm assuming she really was a runway model. She's about 6 feet tall and weighs 120 or so. Remember the JSM when David Spade saw someone she was trying to avoid and said, "quick! hide behind this pencil!"

I love both Wendie and David Spade. JSM makes me happy. Wendie so butch, David so bitchy. 90s ambiguity at its best.

Huge animal lover, good friends with Ray Abruzzo who also has a ranch with horses.

And a very funny lady. One of the few that might have been able to pull off an American Patsy Stone.

I first noticed her in Kate & Allie and then HBO's Dream On. Been a fan for years. I agree with you, r20, that her character on Frasier wasn't great but the show was way past its prime by the time she joined the cast. She did the best she could with what they gave her.

I also have her version of Santa Baby on some Christmas compilation CD. As a singer she's a great actress but I've never really liked that song and her version is probably the one I'd choose to listen to if I have to hear it.

Just love her.

One of her odder projects that should be better known to the DL: the 1999 TV movie, TAKE MY ADVICE: THE ANN AND ABBY STORY. Malick played dueling advice columnists "Ann Landers" and "Dear Abbey" who were actually twin sisters, Eppie Lederer and Pauline Phillips.

I felt bad for her when she was doing that really bad show on TVLand with Betty white, but her career seems to have recovered.

Wendie and George Segal were so damn funny on Just Shoot me. I liked Laura San Giacomo too.

I was pretty drunk (and stoned) when I saw it the first time. I remember being impressed by Wendie's wig game, and her ability to differentiate Ann from Abby in their numerous scenes together. Patti Duke would have been envious.

Just Shoot Me had a good long run--seven seasons, 1997-2003. Damn, was it really that long ago?!

The nineties were a magic time in network TV!

Arguably, actors and writers were much better off back then financially. There weren't as many different projects as there are nowadays with streaming, but once you landed a job, you were paid better.

Loved both series, and always thought a crossover episode would have been TV perfection.

She's funny and foxy and harms nobody. I dig her.

She always stands out. One is drawn to her in whatever role she plays.

Tall dark and lean thing she is with good movement. Was she a dancer? Or, maybe she's one for yoga? I dunno but she carries herself sexily.

Wendie's voice over work is pretty epic (BoJack Horseman and The Owl House make her a geek / queer icon).

I remember a TV film (Lifetime?) where she plays a bored, little housewife thrust into a murder mystery which was fairly lame, but made fantastic because of her falling over a dead guy in her, I believe, kitchen. Best scene ever.

A beautiful woman with a great comedic ability. Great combo and not common.

I might have to try and find to see if I can watch Just Shoot Me anywhere. It is kind of like Wings in where it had a long run and could be pretty funny, but always overshadowed in the media by other shows. Generally, I am not a huge David Spade fan, but he was used well on that show.

I always enjoyed her rivalry with "Susan Lucci" on Hot in Cleveland and Lucci herself seemed pretty game to make fun of herself and they played off of each other well.

....a "natural" comedic ability. That sounds better.

She sort of reminds me of Signourney Weaver facially and in statue.

R37, I agree. I didn't realize that he's not actually a good actor until watching "Veronica Mars" a few years ago. He seems like he's never fully in character but always a little awkward and self-conscious. It worked for him in "Galaxy Quest," but that's about it.

My husband worked with her on a show and they became friends at the time. Over 20 years ago and he still says she’s the kindest funniest person he’s worked with in the industry.

R44 I like to think in an alternate universe Nina and Bill dated. Bill loved name dropping and being pretentious so I bet he would have been in the Nina Van Horn THS. Catherine on NR was also gorgeous and could have been a former model. Maybe she and Nina hung out and did blow at Studio 54 one night and hooked up with a Rolling Stone.

I forgot how funny JSM was. Maybe I'll rewatch it. She popped up in some obscure gay film as the sister of a wealthy, long time single gay man in middle age who finally admits his same sex attraction. It wasn't great but it also wasn't bad.

She was brilliant in Dynasty the Reunion mini series in 1991. Especially her scenes with Alexis.

Wendie Malick has delighted audiences for decades playing the exact same character in everything in which she has appeared. And I applaud her for it.

While my first experience of her was also as Judith, the main character’s ex wife and obsession, on Dream On, I’ve enjoyed her more in other roles. Just Shoot Me, Seinfeld, Frazier, Young Sheldon. Very beautiful and very funny. Her last name is Egyptian, like Rami’s.

Hot in Cleveland was only intermittently as good as the actresses who appeared in it, but I did love Wendie's character and her feud with Sue Lucci.

Yes JSM is on Hulu, it came on right at the tail end of the lockdown so I watched it right away but I think I may again.

Wendie and Eartha Kitt had great chemistry in The Emperor's New Groove. David Spade is also in the lead as the narcissist emperor Kuzco. And Patrick Warburton as Kronk is hilarious.

Sure they are Arabs. They just don't happen to be Muslims. Arab is an ethnicity. Muslim is a religious term.

Regardless I think being 1/8 Copt Arab isn't enough for someone to claim that identity. At that point they'd just be culturally American and nobody looks at Wendie and thinks Middle Eastern.

But indigenous Egyptians are Semitic people closely related to Arabs, Assyrians, Jews and Phoenicians who make up the Arab peninsula and Levant region. Egyptians aren't related to Maghrebis of North Africa like Moroccans, Algerians, Libyans and Tunisians.
