by Anonymous | reply 18 | August 14, 2022 9:10 PM |
Yes, it's 68 here (Great Lakes region) after brutal upper 90s last week. But I think it's only an autumn flirtation. The weather won't stay consistently this beautiful until late September. I'm sure we're going to have more terrible heat waves, though they won't last too long.
by Anonymous | reply 19 | August 14, 2022 9:11 PM |
It’s been pretty fall-like here in Pittsburgh since Wednesday. Air conditioner has been off. Even in the day when it hits the low 80s there’s a cool breeze that doesn’t make it seem that warm. It’s 73 now and it’s pretty much going to stay that way until Thursday when it’s supposed to hit 80.
by Anonymous | reply 20 | August 14, 2022 9:17 PM |
Autumn is my favorite time of year. I was born in Autumn, so perhaps it's a thing. ^Hello Pittsburgh from Wheeling!
by Anonymous | reply 21 | August 14, 2022 9:28 PM |
Last week was the beginning of our “summer”: sunny days, higher temps (high 70s-80) and clear blue skies. Our “summer” will continue into September then October and temps will cool a few degrees into November and possibly December....that is if the rains don’t come (which, unfortunately, they have not during the drought).
The Marine Layer lasted from Late April to Early August this year.

No. It's the middle of August. Around here it doesn't start "cooling off" until mid-September at the earliest. August is the hottest part of Summer.
Where do you live that it "cools off" before mid-August?
by Anonymous | reply 26 | August 14, 2022 9:39 PM |
Mid 90’s, high humidity and still fucking summer here. Won’t cool down until October if we’re lucky. Could be worse….it is the middle of hurricane season after all.

Anywhere North of California in the West, North of Texas in the center, North of the Gulf Coast states in the Midwest, and North of South Carolina in the East.
Northern latitudes all start cooling off in late August.
by Anonymous | reply 32 | August 14, 2022 10:15 PM |
I am about 5 states north of South Carolina and August is still the hottest month of the year. Summer ends in late September, not July.

by Anonymous | reply 34 | August 14, 2022 10:30 PM |

And the climate averages say you're wrong.
by Anonymous | reply 35 | August 14, 2022 10:30 PM |
For most of the northern hemisphere, average temperatures start gradually and slowly declining in early August. However, of course there will be more hot days for most places south of Canada for the next month or so, but, climatologically the hottest days usually occur before late August
by Anonymous | reply 37 | August 14, 2022 10:33 PM |
We've got a heat wave moving into the Pacific NW today, so... no.
It will make its way East soon enough.
by Anonymous | reply 41 | August 14, 2022 10:36 PM |
In the northern hemisphere, we are now entering solar auto, which is the pier yet where we rapidly lose sunlight until mid November or so. These shorter days and longer nights, plus lower sun angle, will gradually yield cooler temperatures. The only counterbalance is that oceans and lakes are about at their peak temperature until about late September, which keeps things from cooling off fast
by Anonymous | reply 42 | August 14, 2022 10:37 PM |

by Anonymous | reply 44 | August 14, 2022 10:41 PM |
Yeah, Pittsburgh’s is a bit misleading, r40. Our winters have a few very , very warm days so it makes the lows (yes, I know it’s an average) seem warmer than they are.
by Anonymous | reply 45 | August 14, 2022 10:44 PM |
I meant:
In the northern hemisphere, we are now entering solar autumn 🍂 , which is the part of the year when we rapidly lose sunlight until mid November or so. These shorter days and longer nights, plus lower sun angle, will gradually yield cooler temperatures on average. The only counterbalance is that oceans and lakes are about at their peak temperature until about late September, which keeps things from cooling off fast. Again, we have more hot days ahead, but on average, they will get fewer and less intense after if august, especially in the Northeast, Upper Midwest, Northern Plains, Canada, and Northwest.

Any eldergays living in the country? Would you say the colors of autumn leaves of reds, oranges and yellows are as beautiful and richly saturated as those of when you were a boy and the air as cool and crisp? I'm talking about the 60s and 70s. I live in the city so it's hard to tell. The leaves here look sickly in the fall. When I was a boy living in the suburbs falls were glorious.

I'm in Brooklyn - it cooled down significantly as of yesterday and it helps that there's low humidity. Last week, my apartment was warm and I had the fan on most of the day. I didn't have to turn the fan on yesterday and I was chilly enough (with windows open) in my bed last night that I pull a comforter on me.
Right now, it's almost 10PM and 74 degrees. I'm sitting next to an open window and there is the slightest chill in the air coming from outside.

FYI R126 - There are old buildings in NYC that can't handle A/C. My apartment building was built in 1913 and the wiring has not been upgraded since then - I still have a fuse box, not circuit breakers. I was young and dumb and didn't even think about wiring and that shit. Anyway, I purchased an A/C unit shortly after I moved here and then found out that the building wiring was so out of date that it couldn't handle the amount of watts the unit needed to run. The fuse box wires would get red hot, then the fuse would blow.
I asked the landlord about getting things upgraded - the answer was that "the building was supplying adequate power for normal activities". They were not obligated to rewire the whole building. Other than shitty old wiring, my building is great. Until I can afford to move, I've adapted to keep cool the old fashioned way - a powerful fan.

by Anonymous | reply 131 | August 15, 2022 3:16 AM |
I have to say that the summer was pretty nice, not too oppressive with the heat/humidity. We did get those days, in the 90s....but, would drop down. The humidity is the worst. We didn't get much rain and it's very dry. Weather systems headed north or south of us. It was pretty localized. The hot weather can go through October, on and off. I remember Indian summers.

It's been in the 70s the last couple of days and I'm not ready for fall. However, the crickets have been chirping at night which indicates late summer. We are expected to be in the 80s this week which I like the best. Sunset is earlier which is another thing I'm not crazy about but what can you do. It's New England and fall is beautiful as is winter but it seems too long.

[quote] Why exactly does California experience later Summer and Fall weather than the rest of the country? That's very strange, and doesn't really make sense
To add on to what others have said, I’ll expound on the coastal California microclimate. The Marine Layer (essentially fog) covers a good portion of the coast (SF and especially the portions of CA that jut out in the Pacific Ocean) because the warm air from inland CA meets the cool oceanic temps and creates a significant layer of fog: the Marine Layer.
Unlike the East Coast where the warm currents flow up the coast from the Caribbean [South——>North], in the West the oceanic currents flow from Alaska and the Arctic [North——>South]. Hence why the Pacific in N.America is a much cooler ocean. It takes some time for the ocean to warm up to meet the warm air from inland CA without producing coastal fog: most notably “May Grey” and “ June Gloom”, but the fog can start anytime in Spring and run all throughout the usual North American summer even up until late September depending on the year’s temps.
Once the coastal Marine Layer dissipates, the temps are warmer and our “summer” truly begins: lasting (but cooling) well into potentially clear, crisp days throughout the months of November to January. This is assuming the rains don’t come....as they have not for quite a few years. The rains used to start in November.....for storms; but we’ve been in a drought for some time.
tl;dr. Has to do with Pacific Ocean currents and the overall Mediterranean climate of California.

Wow, thanks for that R140.
I find these types of micro-climates fascinating.
It makes me wonder, if the current along the Pacific Coast ran South to North like the Gulf Stream, then the West Coast would be hot as hell.
It's amazing to think what the whole West Coast would be like, if that were the case.
by Anonymous | reply 143 | August 15, 2022 5:49 AM |
SoCa has even more micro climates within the micro climates. For example, Long Beach (which is a south facing beach) is the southern-most city in LA County. Across the county line in Orange County, you have Seal Beach (small) and Huntington Beach. These are more west-facing. So Long Beach is typically hotter than Huntington, sometimes as much as 10 degrees but usually more like 5 degrees when the wind is moving from the west. In Long Beach the air travels over land and the Palos Verdes peninsula before it gets there. If you're in Huntington at that same time, the air is coming in off the ocean and is cooler.
Also most people think of SoCa as a climate that's very dry and close to desert. But the coastal areas often have very high humidity especially at night. It is very common for overnight humidity to be above 80%, and sometimes during the day it doesn't get below 65%. Now, go to the Inland Empire which is thought of by many as an extension of the LA area and there you are close to desert conditions.
This summer has seemed more humid here than usual so I've been keeping the a/c on a lot. My electric bill is looking like it'll be at least $100 higher than normal.

Pleasure, R143.
Microclimates ARE fascinating. Just look at the posters in this thread in Novato and Brawley, California. They have their own climates in California which are VERY different from SF or LA. California is an incredibly diverse state: topographically and thus, climatically. It reminds me of New Zealand with its mountains, deserts, valleys and beaches and MANY micro limes. I just saw today that the warmest and coldest temps in the US were BOTH in California (Death Valley, etc.)
And yes, things would be very different if the coastal currents here were akin to those on the East coast flowing South to North; the West Coast areas would presumably be much more humid and hot.
Of note, the Atlantic currents flowing South——> North have an effect on Europe and The UK. This explains why they don’t get as much snow (but rather rains) than equivalent places in North America as the warmer water currents flow “towards” them.
The worlds oceans play a significant role in global weather patterns....its all really interconnected.

Last wo weeks have been gorgeous - highs 78-83 when it's normally in the 90s. This is central Illinois - Bloomington-Normal. Overall, it's been a fairly mild summer. Yes, we've had some heat waves, but the number of serious heat waves and length has been less than in recent years. Plus we've got ton of rain.
This isn't to say we're out of the woods. Can get 90+ stretches through September. But, even if we get one more true heat wave, it's still been, overall, a fairly pleasant summer.
I have NO idea if this is scientifically true (I'm sure it's not), even if I've seen it play out a lot before, but my grandparents and parents would always say that(in places that have distinct seasons) a cold winter follows a hot summer, and a relatively mild winter follows a relatively mild summer.

[quote] Farmers' Almanac declares North Central region a 'hibernation zone' this winter
The Farmers' Almanac came out with its winter weather predictions across the U.S., and it's going to be — you guessed it — frigid.
Specifically, the almanac, an annual American periodical in publication since 1818, is calling the North Central region a "hibernation zone, glacial, snow-filled." Yikes.
"The big takeaway for our winter season forecast," the periodical wrote, "is that frigid temperatures should flow into many areas nationwide — especially in the North Central region, where readers will certainly be shaking and shivering!"
The North Central region encompasses Iowa, Colorado, Kansas, Minnesota, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, North Dakota, South Dakota and Wyoming.
There will be a fair share of storms in the region, which means plenty of snow for winter enthusiasts — "maybe even in time for a white Christmas," the almanac editors wrote.
Now, keep in mind that the almanac is usually about 80% correct.
Instead of comparing the upcoming winter with the previous one, the periodical measures against long-term normals for temperature, precipitation and snowfall using mathematical and astronomical formulations to make its predictions. The formula takes into account sunspot activity, tidal activity, planets' positions and "a variety of other factors," according to its website.
Last year, the almanac editors predicted a mild, then cold and snowy, then mild winter in Iowa. Des Moines saw above-normal precipitation and snowfall in January and March, according to the National Weather Service in Des Moines.
The first day of winter and the shortest day of the year will be Dec. 21, but the almanac predicts the "first bite of winter" is expected to come earlier than last year's. December looks stormy and cold across the U.S. and multiple "significant weather disturbances" are on the horizon, including:
Potential for heavy snow, followed by a sweep of bitterly cold air, the first week of January in the Rockies and across the Plains. The weather could reach as far south as Texas and Oklahoma.
Bouts of heavy rain and snow over the eastern two-thirds of the U.S. from Jan. 16-23, the Almanac predicts. It'll be followed by "one of the coldest outbreaks of arctic air" recorded in several years. We're talking 40 degrees below zero.
Here are a few highlights from other regions, according to the Farmers' Almanac:
Much of the Southeast will see a mix of wet snow, sleet, ice, freezing rain and chilly temperatures.
South Central states could see some snow accumulation, especially in early January.
The Pacific Northwest will see about-normal winter precipitation, though the Southwest is forecasted to receive less-than-normal amounts.

[quote] Brutal Heat Wave Expected in California This Week
While much of the country has suffered extreme heat waves this summer, California has in large part been spared. But that reprieve is over.
A weeklong scorcher is expected to bake much of central and Southern California through Labor Day. Temperatures could reach up to 115 degrees in the Inland Empire and 112 degrees in the San Fernando Valley and San Joaquin Valley, while hovering just below triple digits closer to the coast.
The heat wave will probably have two peaks, said Mike Wofford, a meteorologist with the Los Angeles-Oxnard forecasting office of the National Weather Service. The first will be midweek; then temperatures will begin to drop before shooting up again Sunday and Monday to even higher levels, he said.
“This does tend to be our hottest time of year,” Wofford said. Over Labor Day weekend in 2020, Los Angeles County recorded its highest temperature: a sweltering 121 degrees.
In general, temperature records in Southern California are most likely to be broken in September; that’s also typically the Bay Area’s warmest month. While the weather service predicts that much of the country will enjoy average or below-average temperatures in the first half of September, that’s not the case in the West.

[quote] Playground asphalt sizzles to 145 degrees in extreme heat waves
Sweat streamed down the faces of children during 10 a.m. recess Wednesday at Lockwood Elementary. Boys' cheeks flushed red as they played kickball. Girls found a sliver of shade beneath a handball wall to jump rope. With morning temperatures soaring into the 90s, this would be their last outdoor foray on their asphalt playground in East Hollywood.
It was Day 1 of what is forecast to be the longest and hottest heatwave this year, and the Lockwood asphalt would radiate too much heat for them to play safely. But such is the sizzling heat problem at this campus, which holds the No. 1 ranking on L.A. Unified’ s "Greening Index," a long list of schools in desperate need of green space and shade.
At Lockwood there is 162,059 square feet of hardscape, and only 1,049 of green space — and a few spindly trees in planter boxes.
“At least cover the playground area, like the swing set. My daughter can’t touch them because she gets burned," said Reyna Ramos, as she picked up her child Wednesday. Ramos was anxious to get the 8-year-old home, where she would cool off with a glass of water, sit down and just breathe.
"The school needs places for kids to hang out during extreme heat," Ramos said.
As extreme heat days spurred by climate change increase, as schools begin in mid-August, and as educators stress the importance of outside play and exercise, hot schools are prompting parent demands to “de-asphalt” campuses like Lockwood.
They complain greening projects are woefully behind and urgent action is needed to protect children from heat dangers. Parents and environmental advocates are calling for an easier, more equitable process to speed up the pace of projects.
More than 600 schools are listed on the L.A. Unified “Greening Index,” which ranks campuses in order of the most asphalt and least amount of green space. Access to neighborhood parks is also figured into the rankings. Most of the 150 schools in "very high need" are in South and East Los Angeles, where park space is scarce and academic achievement gaps are widest.
But making improvements is not as simple as going down the list in order of need. Parents say building green projects can be a long, bureaucratic and often frustrating process. And individual school communities have had to lobby for improvements.
On Tuesday, school board President Kelly Gonez, who represents a largely east San Fernando Valley area where temperatures soar, introduced a resolution to establish a minimum standard of 30% green space on every campus and to devote additional bond dollars to ensure the requirement is achieved districtwide by 2032.
"We urgently need a systemwide solution to expand green space, particularly for low-income communities of color that are most likely to be harmed by climate change and extreme heat," Gonez said. "This is an opportunity for L.A. Unified to correct those inequities on a system level and to expand green spaces where the problem is most urgent."
According to the district’s Greening Index, only 16% of campuses meet the recommended threshold of green space and at 235 elementary schools, 10% or less of their campus is green space.
The danger of asphalt and hardscape school grounds is real.
Researchers have found that schoolyards are often the hottest locations in communities due to the large swaths of asphalt.
Schools are often designed with efficiency in mind, which has created a “worst-case scenario” for children, said V. Kelly Turner, associate professor of urban planning and geography at UCLA's Luskin School of Public Affairs. They’re flat, one-story campuses that offer little shade from buildings or trees. On a 93-degree day in the San Fernando Valley, researchers have recorded school asphalt temperatures of 145 degrees.
by Anonymous | reply 204 | September 2, 2022 2:46 AM |
Federal guidelines consider extreme heat to be 90 degrees and above. School staff in L.A. — and at districts throughout the region — take precautions during the kind of heatwave that began Wednesday: keeping students to air-conditioned rooms, cutting recess short, moving athletic practices to morning hours and canceling games. Los Angeles Unified School District guidelines recommend decreased physical activity and encouraging students to bring water bottles and take frequent water breaks.
Krisztina Tokes, deputy chief facilities executive for LAUSD, explained there are generally three ways to start a greening project: through partnerships with nonprofits or government entities that help identify school sites and assist with funding, through specially designated capital bond fund projects, and through grassroots organizing.
The projects can take various forms and don't always involve shade — but usually remove asphalt. A green space can be a garden, full of native plants that serve as a rest area and educational tool; a drought-friendly stormwater runoff project that captures rainwater; an outdoor space with wooden stumps and shade trees.
"No one is going to build a super dome over the play yard," said Mark Hovatter, the district's chief facilities executive. "Kids are going to be in the sun when they play outside. We need to try to do something that still allows for healthy outdoor activities."
To address urgent heat concerns, the district is considering installing misting stations and is in the process of adding water refilling stations in schools. Strict safety standards prevent schools from erecting tents or canopies as an immediate shade solution, as some parents have demanded.
Parents and environmental activists want the district to move more aggressively and complain this process places the burden on principals and families.
As the heat bore down this week, parents asked for donations of cold bottled water because school fountains are hot.
"Science tells us that our days will only get hotter," said Rudy Gonzalves, director of the Los Angeles Alliance for a New Economy's education campaign. "LAUSD cannot fight the climate crisis with calls for public donations and bake sales. This crisis demands a comprehensive approach that involves parents, students, educators and the community at large."
For LAUSD's children, more shade means more playtime.
Lilian, 8, plans her outside activities according to the shade available at her Woodland Hills school. Sometimes it's a play structure that has a bit of shade, sometimes it's the handball wall.
Other hot areas are simply off-limits; the asphalt burns her hand if she touches it.
“I think my school is amazing, even though I’m burning up my own skin,” she said. “I wish it had a bit more shade.”

Coastal Ga. here. It's definitely cooled off here. We've had storms every evening for the last 5 days. Got a break today. Temps in the upper 80s until the storms come through and they drop down 20 degrees in 30 minutes. Just the kind of weather I love.

by Anonymous | reply 242 | September 7, 2022 6:13 AM |
Sorry for the confusion. I did not mean to imply that the Burning Man people were in 124 degrees. The afternoon temperatures at Burning Man were between 95 and 100 each day. Not pleasant on a dry lake bed with blowing dust and no shade except what you brought. Burning Man happens on the Black Rock desert in northern Nevada.
The 10-hour traffic jam was on the road out of Burning Man. There was also major traffic on southbound U.S. 395 in California, which is a popular route home from Burning Man for people who live in southern California.
Where it was 124 today was in Death Valley, California, which usually holds the record for the hottest place in the world. The current world record for highest air temperature ever recorded officially is 56.7 °C (134.1 °F), which was recorded on July 10, 1913 at Furnace Creek in Death Valley. Afternoon highs of 120 F are common and frequent there every summer, but normally they only happen from late June through July. It's unusual for it to be this hot there this late in the season.

No dear, this kind of heat and humidity was NEVER normal in the Fall. I don't recall it ever being 85° in the Fall. Especially not in states with four seasons. When I was a kid, in the Fall, I recall everyone was in thin jackets.
Being this hot in the Fall is called climate change and it's very real.
by Anonymous | reply 285 | September 19, 2022 12:27 AM |
R285 you’ve never heard of Indian summer? It’s actually quite normal. And it’s not like it’s going to be 90 - NY has one more day (tomorrow) of 85, and if it’s not humid that’s not even that bad. The rest of the week is kid and low 70s - one day of 66 even according to my app. And sunny all but one day. That’s about as perfect as you can ask for.
by Anonymous | reply 286 | September 19, 2022 12:42 AM |
For many decades fall has often been hot and dry in southern California, if a "Santa Ana condition is prevailing. This is when a large high-pressure system sits over the entire southwestern U.S., and rotates clockwise. This pushes hot, bone-dry desert air into coastal southern California, creating the notorious "Santa Ana winds," which fan any wildfires. This is nothing new and has been a seasonal weather pattern all my life and for decades before. The fall was the traditional fire season. What's new is that now big fires can happen at any time of year.
Snow in the Sierra Nevada in mid-September is still a rarity.

Your info is wrong, what's been going on has nothing to do with Indian Summer. This heat in the Fall has been going on for the past few years. Indian Summer is when this sort of heat in the Fall happens sporadically not every single year. Years ago, it was never 80°to 90° in the Fall. Never.
The weather is so screwed up, the weather forecasters on TV can barely get the info correct for the next day, let alone, a week in advance.
A few Winters ago, it was 75° on Christmas Eve, that's not normal at all, not for any East Coast state which normally has four seasons.

Out of nowhere this summer was relatively mild in central Illinois (Bloomington-Normal). Don't get me wrong, still plenty of hot and sticky days, but never lasted as long or hit as high of temps as it often can. And some intermittent relief periods - highs in the upper 70s for a few days in July and August - that we usually don't see. The rain was unrelenting. We have no shortage of water.
Of course I realize this is seasonal variation and next summer could be blistering and relatively dry.

by Anonymous | reply 325 | September 28, 2022 6:03 PM |
Dammit, LA will be in the 80'sto 90's all week.
by Anonymous | reply 326 | October 3, 2022 2:12 PM |
Not really . Pnw and it was like 27 Celsius where I am yesterday
by Anonymous | reply 327 | October 3, 2022 3:07 PM |
R327 I was shocked by Seattle's weather.
It's been, and pretty much will continue to be in the 70's during the daytime.
That's crazy for early October!

I haven’t even gotten to wear a coat yet
by Anonymous | reply 329 | October 3, 2022 3:11 PM |
What's the deal with all the "smoke" in Seattle?
Every time I check the weather forecast, it says SMOKE.
And it's been like that for over a month.
Where in the hell is the SMOKE coming from?

New York City here: I woke today to 51 degrees and hearing the heat making the old steam radiator in my apartment clank and bang.

R331 is posting from the 1800's.
by Anonymous | reply 332 | October 3, 2022 6:21 PM |
R332 is posting from a flyover state or a low-ceilinged postwar apartment rather than from the sumptuous heart of Manhattan where radiators still joyfully trumpet their bounty.

Here is a lesson for smug R332 - I'm posting from my apartment in a 90 year old apartment building that has steam heat. NYC is full of older buildings that have this form of heat... everywhere I've lived had had this setup and unfortunately, a lot of them are noisy. You get used to it and begin to not even hear it over time.

Rofl R333 and R334.
Touchy, touchy.
by Anonymous | reply 335 | October 3, 2022 8:11 PM |
While I was in the bathroom, I heard the riser pipe clicking away. My building, a co-op, is over 60 years old and, yes, we have steam heat.
by Anonymous | reply 336 | October 3, 2022 8:29 PM |
Yes, bitch.
by Anonymous | reply 338 | October 3, 2022 8:52 PM |
How's life in the 1800's, R331?
by Anonymous | reply 339 | October 4, 2022 1:02 AM |
Minneapolis will have a high in the 30's and low in the 20's on Monday.
Brrrr!!!!!
by Anonymous | reply 340 | October 14, 2022 4:32 PM |
Where's that PA birdfeeder cam we were all watching last winter? It's getting time to fire that up again. Especially since—sigh—I've moved to a new house that doesn't have room for a feeder of my own.

We had our first snow today in northern Wisconsin.

Unusual October here in coastal SoCal. “Monsoonal”: meaning it is cool, drizzly and completely grey. Been like this since the first of October. Tomorrow’s low to be in the 50s!
Usually Oct. is our summer! But a very weird offshore pattern cycling in a counterclockwise direction is producing this anomaly. Will be like this for the foreseeable future (all of October?)
Instead of warm, dry Santa Ana winds with clear skies and high temps, we have completely socked in grey skies and wet, cool weather.
Keeps the fire danger low.
Cheers to everyone else enjoying beautiful Autumn colors and even snow!

Ack, R342!
I'm so jealous.
Minneapolis is also supposed to have snow, early next week.
by Anonymous | reply 344 | October 14, 2022 11:01 PM |
Warmest October with more days over 80 degrees. It is getting colder during the nights, they're in the high 40s.
by Anonymous | reply 345 | October 15, 2022 12:30 AM |
Seattle is still having daytime highs in the mid-70's, which is unheard of for mid-October.
That's more like July/August weather.
by Anonymous | reply 346 | October 15, 2022 12:33 AM |
I'm so jealous of you r345. I despise snow. What state are you in? I need out of here...

Las Cegas here. It’s 69 degrees at 7:15 am. The high will be 88.
This is the first week of temperatures under 90. I am so sick of this I can’t tell you, and I grew up in Southern California. This summer was absolute hell. It will only get worse. It’s typical here that there are only a couple weeks of pleasant shirtsleeve weather, then suddenly it’s cold and windy. Almost no days when it’s pleasant to just walk outside.

Sorry, I mean Las Vegas ^
by Anonymous | reply 349 | October 15, 2022 3:20 PM |
It's overcast, rainy and 63 degrees in Los Angeles. Perfect weather for being mildly sick with Covid- cats, hot beverages, and Halloween movies.

Seattle will finally get down into the 40's and 50's next week.
It's going to be a big shift from 60's and 70's!

So sorry to hear, LV Poster. Have empathy for the inordinately high temps.
The Daily Mail has been posting that Marky Mark is moving from LA to Las Vegas.....as if it is some kind of upgrade!
After having lived in both places, I can only say that LA——>LV is a HUGE downgrade. You could not pay me to live in Vegas now.
Sending cool thoughts (and hopefully weather) to those in the Nevada desert.

This is going to be a cold winter, I can feel it. I'm in coastal Georgia and the lows are predicted to be in the low to mid 30's a few nights next week.

80 degrees in DC

The weather is warm in New England, but everything has a foreboding (sp?) quality, for many reasons.
Not digging it.
by Anonymous | reply 355 | November 6, 2022 2:29 PM |
Foreboding quality, R355? Like, it's going to get cold soon? I'm in RI and the forecast says the temperatures will start getting November-like after tomorrow.
by Anonymous | reply 356 | November 6, 2022 2:38 PM |
Nah R356- I am talking deeper. I have Sunday anxiety. :)

I had to run the air conditioning last night to sleep. 72 is too hot for me for zzzz time. I hate it. I want my fucking autumnal seasonality.
