Instead of continuing in quality movies, theatre and TV she started accepting the big bucks to do shite movies such as National Treasure, Collateral Beauty, Fast and Furious, Arthur, Winchester etc.
She also became a fixture on red carpets and American chat shows.
Would she have been better off if Dame Judi had rightfully won the Oscar for Notes On A Scandal? Did her taste leave her?

The Oscar helped finance The Tempest, she got nominations across various organisations for The Last Station, Hitchcock, Trumbo, The Hundred Foot Journey and Woman In Gold.
And she won an Olivier and a Tony for The Audience.
And Golda looks like Oscar bait.

Maggie Smith once said something about doing the Harry Potter movies because she didn’t have a pension. I loved her before that, and more after she said it.
Old people don’t know how long they’ll be paying bills, or be able to pay bills. I’m sure the impulse to get it while the getting is there (lofty or not) is very strong.
