Joel is very cute/handsome. His upper body/chest seems a little oddly shaped, and I actually like that. It makes him a little less of a generic Instaho type. He used to be chunky and you can still see the imperfection.

The less-generic thing helps especially with him because his personality...can use help.

YouTube pushed the Joel and Lia videos on me so much that I finally watched during the pandemic to see why they were being foisted upon me, and their chats were sometimes just marginally interesting enough to watch but also rather boring.

Then they split up and did their own things separately, and Joel without Lia was just a pretentious drip. He seems narcissistic, arrogant and just not interesting.

Lia, on the other hand, seems sort of dumb when they are together but she at least has personality on her own, and some videos I watched of her showed her to be vulnerable. But then she ended up turning me off, too, when she kept finding excuses to show herself in a bikini and show off her bodyfriend's body, whether in vacation videos or when he was just wandering around behind her with no shirt on.

I'm sure those things up her views and that is what it's all about, after all.

It's interesting that YouTube has shown the original TV model of ratings = ad revenue has remained reliable over time. The least common denominator still appeals to the greatest number of people, and so those with the dullest personalities get the most views and YouTube rewards them handsomely by promoting them to everyone who watches YouTube, no matter what people want to watch. I watch mainly music videos and interviews with musicians like Tori Amos, Kate Bush, Fiona Apple, Joni Mitchell et al., "explainer" videos about science and medicine, etc. There is no good reason an algorithm should keep regurgitating Joel and Lia for me, and yet there they are always invading my recommended videos. Lucky kids.

Joel's best videos are when he goes out and about all over the place. He did one where he went to a country fair with the gay brother and his mother. It was EXCELLENT. A real slice of English country life.
