So many good lines. Joan Cusack should’ve gotten an Oscar nomination.

Debbie fondling Fester's cock with the saxophone music was an entire generation's sexual awakening.

I always loved this better than the first one. I think it's considered one of those sequels that outdid the original and it found a huge fanbase from getting reran on Fox and ABC Family so much. You knew Christina Ricci was going places with her awesome portrayal of Wednesday.

A gay camp-fest of biblical/demonic proportions! Not to be missed.

I hated "Debbie" which, I guess is a testament to Joan Cusack's good acting. I loved her in the movie "In and Out"

The first film is pretty forgettable, but Addams Family Values is a treat and is far better than it had any need to be.
It’s silly and sexy and clever, and the humour is still sharp and cutting - more so than most comedies were then or have been since.

Even the title, "Addams Family Values" was a dig at Republican rhetoric about "family values"
by Anonymous | reply 16 | July 31, 2022 5:05 PM

r16 a dig utilizing a tradition nuclear family with 2.5 kids and a stay at home mom?

^ Yes, the hypocrisy that Republicans represented anything BUT, "family values"

r16 so, so, so many unaware republicans calling themselves democrats and trying to destroy the party from the inside with what they deem as digs at republicans when it actually boosts their propaganda and other rhetoric.

The Addams Family were despised by the town they lived in because they looked and behaved oddly. Yet the irony is they were a loving family who got along and they were very friendly and hospitable to everyone. And the conservative middle-class folk in town were boring, nasty, rude and petty. It was definitely a satire on hypocrisy and American conformity at least the TV and film adaptations. The original sitcom being from the 1960s around the Civil Rights Movement and counterculture taking off certainly helped. Morticia and Gomez had a very egalitarian marriage and it implied they had a very active sex life too, always using terms of endearment, kissing and hugging. The original cartoons in the New Yorker seemed more like a typical dark comedy.

^ Good observation, characters like the Addams Family and the Munsters were often used to point out that just because someone acted or looked different they had the same dreams, frustrations and aspirations as anyone else

That’s not really my point, r25. It’s also stunning to think the movie “Leprechaun” is almost 30 years old, and it’s a terrible movie.

Christine Baranski, Peter MacNichol, and the summer camp scenes steal the movie.
Gary and Becky Martin-Grainger were camp directors from Hell. It's also funny that Baranski towers over MacNichol.

Joan Cusack is absolutely sensational -- and surprisingly gorgeous -- in this movie. Unbetterable. But it's fun to imagine how the originally cast actress might have played it . . . Kathleen Turner.
