It was such a great movie. One of my favs as a child. I hated the little girl but otherwise I loved it and Elisabeth Shue. She was one of my favorites!

She was supposed to be a leading light in the Third Wave of Hollywood's young stars. Not quite in the "Brat Pack," but people still expected her to do great things.

No money, but endless judgment about actual poor people? Check.

Shue got all the nominations for Leaving Las Vegas and then, poof, she was gone from screens forever.
I think her brother may be the worst actor ever cast on a primetime TV show.

The children's hospital I often stayed at in the early '90s had a small VHS library. You could reserve a TV/VCR combo for a couple hours to watch a movie. I always chose this one, and my dad was often a captive audience. He still says "Thor's a homo."
