Do you think Trump can pull a Grover Cleveland?

Hopefully not. But there is a good chance of it happening.

by Anonymousreply 18November 27, 2024 11:59 PM

This is your 17th thread today, OP.

How sad

by Anonymousreply 1July 2, 2022 10:49 PM

The only Cleveland he could pull at this point is a Cleveland Steamer.

by Anonymousreply 2July 2, 2022 10:49 PM

Grover Cleveland was a fat like Trump.

by Anonymousreply 3July 2, 2022 10:50 PM

I think he can pull a Harry Houdini and vanish, fleeing the country, never to be seen again.

Why on earth is he still here?

by Anonymousreply 4July 2, 2022 10:58 PM

Seriously, no. He’s always been ridiculously overhyped, especially as a politician. He lost the popular vote in both 2016 and 2020 and in midterm primaries and runoffs is not turning out to be the Republican kingmaker he was predicted to be.

by Anonymousreply 5July 2, 2022 11:10 PM

Once the powers that be in the Republican party (the real power - not the clowns people elect), decide that someone is no longer viable, the decision is final.

With Trump, the decision has been made and it is final.

R6 is correct. Trump bit the hand that fed him, went off script too many times, and caused numerous clean ups. He also alienated the military, kind of a tough thing for a former president to do! He’s also too old now and feeble minded.

At this point he’s just postering and pontificating in his shit-filled diaper. Not possible.

by Anonymousreply 7July 2, 2022 11:19 PM

Did Cleveland have a trans son-in-law?

by Anonymousreply 8July 2, 2022 11:22 PM

No, r8: that was Rutherfurd B. Hayes.

by Anonymousreply 9July 2, 2022 11:29 PM

Stick a fork in him, he’s done.

by Anonymousreply 10July 2, 2022 11:44 PM

Pull a Grover Cleveland, yeah I think he could get stuck in a bathtub.

GOP still likes keeping Trump around because he's a juggernaut when it comes to fundraising. The size of his war chest is unheard of for a defeated former president. I have no idea what he'll do with all that money, but he's going to be calling at least some shots this November and in 2024, in some form or another.

by Anonymousreply 12July 2, 2022 11:48 PM

I'd rather he pulled a Garfield.

by Anonymousreply 13July 3, 2022 12:00 AM

Fine, R12, but I don't think they want his name on the November 2024 ballot.

by Anonymousreply 14July 3, 2022 12:05 AM

It was William Howard Taft who got stuck in a bathtub. He was enormous to the people living in the era, but I'd bet he would blend in today.

by Anonymousreply 15July 3, 2022 12:18 AM

Allegedly, Trump has deposited a great amount of that money into his private, personal accounts.

by Anonymousreply 16July 3, 2022 12:19 AM

He always wants more though, doesn't he R16 ?

by Anonymousreply 17July 3, 2022 12:21 AM

Another “fun” Cleveland-related fact. Trump is the first president to be inaugurated in the middle of a decade, having replacing another administration, since Cleveland succeeded Chester Arthur in 1885.
