Jo Anne Worley's husband of 25 years later married Joyce Bulifant...

…whose son from a previous marriage was once married to and had a child with Jenny McCarthy.

by Anonymousreply 32June 30, 2022 7:03 AM

Did you read Bulifant’s book? It’s a lot. She liked her men.

by Anonymousreply 1June 29, 2022 6:50 AM

I hate the name Bulifant.

It’s just stupid.

by Anonymousreply 2June 29, 2022 7:01 AM

Sock it to me!

by Anonymousreply 3June 29, 2022 7:06 AM

Isn't Joyce Bulifant Neil Simon's widow? She may be an early '70s game show denizen and joke, but she doesn't need to write a book to make cash. Unless Simon and family were pricks.

by Anonymousreply 4June 29, 2022 7:19 AM

I was just reading about the Bulifant's marraiges the other day, and went down a bit of a rabbit hole. I never realized that Helen Hayes was her mother-in-law for a time (during the MacArthur marraige).

James Gordon MacArthur's father was an Academy Award-winng writer, his cousin John Roderick MacArthur founded The Bradford Exchange (I'm sure there are DLers who collect commemorative plates), and his uncle John D. MacArthur founded the John D. & Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation (with which I was familiar from a young age because it sponsored grants for many of the PBS shows I watched, including "Reading Rainbow").

She also married William Asher after his decade-long marraige to Elizabeth Montgomery ended. And that union lasted nearly twice as long.

Anyway, I guess I need to read the book R1 mentioned, because I definitely find it all very interesting.

Wrong Joyce. Another veteran of 1970s game shows, Elaine Joyce, was Neil Simon's last wife. Elaine Joyce used to appear on "Tattletales" with then-husband Bobby Van, who up and died on her.

Thank you, r6. I was confused by the Joyces. Both faces popped up to mind from my parents' game show addictions (not exaggerating -- I mostly left the room) though I couldn't put a name to Elaine Joyce. I guess I expected the relatively homely Bulifant to be married to a playwright.

Thanks for that can of condensed Bulifant soup, R5. I almost dove into the same rabbit hole after reading her personal info on Wikipedia. Who knew all roads lead to Bulifant?

I sometimes have The Love Boat channel on Pluto in the background but it ends up being a huge distraction because of all of the DL-icious guest stars that pull me off task.

Ok a new one just started and it looks like it's going to be Pamela Sue Martin and Helen Reddy. Is Love Boat possibly the most Datalounge-y show of all time?

[quote] "Thanks for that can of condensed Bulifant soup, [R5]. "

Yeah, it kind of is, isn't it? Haha. I don't like every post I make to be lengthy (and I've posted a few of them as of late), but I really am interested, and it just kept going, and going.

And I may refer to her as "The Bulifant" from now on, only because of my editing mistake in that post. I don't expect DL to adopt it, bit in re-reading that, I found it personally amusing.

And if it isn't at the top of "The Most Datalounge-y Shows Ever", list "The Love Boat" is definitely close!

I remember Worley and Bulifant's husband Roger Perry was kind of hot in a wholesome sorta way. He had a bedroom scene in "Count Yorga, Vampire" that I used to jerk off too.

As for Bulifant, can you imagine getting some James MacArthur dick in it's prime? Lordy!

by Anonymousreply 10June 29, 2022 9:02 PM

My relationship with Joyce and Joanne was love, American style.

Could somebody please explain why these Joyce Bulifant posts lead to sexual connotations?

She was THE MOST ASEXUAL, least sexiest potato head gal with a horrid mushroom hairstyle, OF THEM ALL in the 70s, and I'm led to believe she was some sort of a trendsetter, other than popularizing a super-dykey haircut that even Dorothy Hamill found unfit?

Could someone PLEASE explain?

by Anonymousreply 12June 29, 2022 9:24 PM

Funny, I don't remember Joyce Bulifant at all from my young TV-watching days. I do remember Jo Anne Worley and that is probably a good indication that anyone is an Eldergay.

by Anonymousreply 13June 29, 2022 9:28 PM

She also played Murray’s wife of course

She knew how to Bye Yum Pum Pum, R12. Asexual? I think not.

r5 And William Asher adopted her son with Edward Mallory (Days of Our Lives) - unclear why but Asher was very wealthy so not a bad gig.

Mallory later married “Almost Cast on Three’s Company as Chrissy Snow” Susanne Zenor.

by Anonymousreply 16June 30, 2022 2:12 AM

Joyce outlived the entire cast of "The Mary Tyler Moore Show"

by Anonymousreply 17June 30, 2022 2:15 AM

I remember Joyce from a Perry Mason episode where two hot guys were in competition for her. Almost as believable as Holden and Damian fighting for Lily's hand on ATWT.

I remember her mainly from Match Game.

Wow. See what I mean? It just goes, and goes, and goes! I've seen that pilot, R16. And frankly, I'm glad the execs at ABC took the time (and money) to re-tool it.

Begging your pardon.

Joyce Bulifant was also the mother of a very sick Jill "Vicki Steubing" Whelan in Airplane!

Jo Anne and Joyce's husband also was on "The Fats of Life" as principal Mr. Parker. He drove Mrs. Garrett to quit Eastland and open Edna's Edibles, the best gourmet shop in all of Peekskill.

by Anonymousreply 23June 30, 2022 2:41 AM

Joyce was also originally cast as Carol Brady on "The Brady Bunch," as she will be only too glad to tell you.

by Anonymousreply 24June 30, 2022 2:42 AM

Every time Joyce Bulifant comes up here, I marvel anew at the constantly expanding knowledge of just how much she got around!

by Anonymousreply 25June 30, 2022 4:59 AM

I don't know her.

by Anonymousreply 26June 30, 2022 5:18 AM

If you should find yourself at a party with Joyce...

don't leave your purse unattended.

by Anonymousreply 29June 30, 2022 5:42 AM

On the "Match Game" shows, Brett Somers, as one of the regulars, tried to make the guests feel welcome and relaxed, acting as a sort of unofficial hostess...

But I remember Joyce Bulifant was one of the guest that made Brett roll her eyes...Brett was polite to her but I sensed she wondered why the fuck they kept booking her.

And speaking of Elaine Joyce, Brett said in the one of the "Match Game" retrospective shows that Elaine Joyce never liked her (Brett), and Brett couldn't figure out the reason for the animosity.

I still can't believe that CUNT Florence Henderson stole my big part...I could've been a star!

But I am a very enlightened, spiritual woman now, and I've let all of that go now...

Still there were purses that got shit in and sometimes I smile thinking of all Florence's ruined purses...
