in this day and age, where words and their definitions have little meaning...

we're going to have to pics and vids in full raw action.

[quote]The Leinster scrum-half Nick McCarthy has come out as gay

These days, when someone articulates specifically that he is gay, and I don't see the INITIALS anywhere in the article, I figure he means he's gay.

by Anonymousreply 2June 20, 2022 6:37 PM

r2 not much a role model if he's just going to be part of the gaytriarchy. That's even worse than the patriarchy!

by Anonymousreply 3June 20, 2022 6:43 PM

Yay! Some good news!

by Anonymousreply 4June 20, 2022 6:58 PM

Unless you're gay, r3, in which case Nick McCarthy is a perfect role model.

by Anonymousreply 5June 20, 2022 7:00 PM

Just another uncut Mick.

by Anonymousreply 6June 20, 2022 7:07 PM

r5 Sports are family friendly. It's one thing if he wants to go on telly and show his balls for cancer awareness - that would be being a good role model. it's completely another if he wants to politicize it by taking a knee in the field to say I rather like the view of my team mate's crotch from this angle.

by Anonymousreply 7June 20, 2022 7:09 PM

[quote]He came out as gay.

Which, of course, simply means that he hasn't yet accepted the fact that he's actually trans.

Scrum Half? Scrum Nasty!

by Anonymousreply 10June 20, 2022 7:14 PM

He needs to strip so we can do a full body and cavity search for his pot of gold

by Anonymousreply 11June 20, 2022 7:36 PM

Cute guy. It's nice gay athletes are starting to feel comfortable enough to be open about their sexuality now.

by Anonymousreply 12June 20, 2022 7:40 PM

My brother and his family are all great Leinster supporters. Nick will get great support from everyone. Good to see one of the major players coming out.

by Anonymousreply 13June 20, 2022 7:40 PM

R9, that video was hysterical. Thanks.

Of the pasty lot, I liked the first guy Gerard best. He and Harry were only two in good shape.

Loved that Gerard is "not a heavy drinker."

by Anonymousreply 14June 20, 2022 7:56 PM

Good for him. He displays bravery to be out in such a macho sport.

by Anonymousreply 15June 21, 2022 1:05 AM

God he is so tiny. I thought Rugby players are supposed to be really big. Definitely a bottom.

R16, he is a scrum half. Doesn’t need to be big.

by Anonymousreply 17June 21, 2022 6:22 AM

wee lad

by Anonymousreply 18June 21, 2022 6:25 AM

R6, you're just another single bitch. Move along, Missy.

by Anonymousreply 19June 21, 2022 6:29 AM

Can confirm, Ireland is really very gay now. The speed of social change has been astonishing - it's gone from maybe the most conservative country in Western Europe to one of the most liberal in only 30-40 years. Not coincidentally, the power and standing of the Catholic church has imploded after huge scandals, especially regarding the Mother and Baby homes.

Good luck to Nick.

by Anonymousreply 20June 21, 2022 6:35 AM

Is it true all Irish are power bottoms?

by Anonymousreply 21June 21, 2022 6:35 AM

Most certainly not.

Looking at that Instagram, there seem to be quite a few pics of him with his arm round a particular blond girl, going back several years. I assume she was unceremoniously dumped a few months ago after the team were told. Ouch.

by Anonymousreply 22June 21, 2022 6:39 AM

I’d eat his ass.

by Anonymousreply 23June 21, 2022 6:39 AM

R15, unlike football rugby players and supporters are very tolerant, he won’t have any problems.

by Anonymousreply 24June 21, 2022 6:48 AM

It's good to finally see the real face of "men who have sex with men". Breeders thought we were all Rip Taylor.

by Anonymousreply 25June 21, 2022 6:59 AM

He looks like he’s a devil in bed. I guess versatile.

To the poster commenting on Nick’s size. Here is the wonderful Guinness ad which pays tribute to the great Shane Williams, height 1.70 metres. There is a similar one for Gareth Thomas.

I bet he fantasizes about bottoming for his burly teammates very often.

Irish rugby is brutal, unlike your American football. Hooray for Nick!

by Anonymousreply 29June 21, 2022 7:31 AM

R16, the forwards in rugby are usually big guys...the props and hookers are built like brick sh$thouses, while the back row (locks, flankers, #8) are tall men. The backs (scrum-halves, fly-halves, centres, wings, and fullbacks are powerful, but oftentimes slimmer to weave in and out to get to the try line.

A scrum-half can be short to average. And in what R27 posted, there are guys like Shane Williams, who was a legend. Small and compact, it was magic when he played wing for Wales.

by Anonymousreply 31June 21, 2022 3:09 PM

R31, you come off as a homophobe.

He’s one of us. Show some pride and compassion.

by Anonymousreply 32June 21, 2022 5:49 PM

R24, that's good to hear!

by Anonymousreply 33June 21, 2022 5:50 PM

I was watching an episode of Graham Norton from last year, and one of his guests was Gareth Thomas, a gay Rugby player. I had never heard of him, but he was good-looking, intelligent, and funny. He was outed by the tabloid The Sunday Mirror, who not only identified him as gay, but as HIV positive. They ambushed his Dad with the news, before Thomas could even talk to his parents. Shameless behavior on their part
