Is anyone else longing for the holidays?

I am.

I love October, November, and December.

Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year's.

Cool weather. Good food. Fun times.

Only three more months until October!

Not at all OP. Not at all.

I am fearing the hardest Christmas of my entire life.

by Anonymousreply 1June 20, 2022 1:13 AM

Yes absolutely 🥰 hoping for an alleviation of Covid talk and whatever new semblance of normal we are now all in

by Anonymousreply 2June 20, 2022 1:16 AM

No, I find it all tiring/tiresome

by Anonymousreply 3June 20, 2022 1:19 AM

I sure as fuck am. I get so many side-eyes when I tell people I hate summer. Most days are just too hot to go outside and do anything and the humidity makes it even more unbearable. Give me cooler weather, colored leaves, the smell of fire, scary movies, cranberry sauce and Christmas music!

by Anonymousreply 4June 20, 2022 1:21 AM

YES, R4!

Today was the last day for the next two weeks that it will be under 90*. It was breezy and in the mid-70s. I had the windows all open, listening to the birds tweet.

So tired of being held hostage by extreme weather.

by Anonymousreply 7June 20, 2022 2:13 AM

No, I'm not. The Fall will be here soon enough. For now, it's time to enjoy Summer.

by Anonymousreply 8June 20, 2022 2:16 AM

I live just north of NYC and I hate hot weather and LOATH Hot/Humid weather. That's the weather one has to endure from generally from mid June until late August.

by Anonymousreply 9June 20, 2022 2:16 AM

Fall through Christmas was already my favorite time of year. Now I really live for the cold weather, when I don't have to hear my neighbors' damn Corazon music. Summer is unbearably noisy now with leafblowers and house-shaking bass all the time. All I want is peace and quiet!

by Anonymousreply 10June 20, 2022 2:27 AM

I’m not especially crazy about the holidays…I mean, they’re fine I guess, but it’s the weather I love. I hate the summer.

by Anonymousreply 11June 20, 2022 2:30 AM

I’m enjoying summer in California. It’s perfect beach weather today. But it was oppressive in Georgia. The humidity just makes it miserable out there, and I disliked that the sunset happened around 8:30 pm or so.

That said, I was in a shitty situation out there that obscures my view of eastern seaboard summers.

NYC can be just as hot and humid, and I loved summers out there.

by Anonymousreply 12June 20, 2022 2:30 AM

I'm turning 49 in late October and am not longing for that, but if I live through that I'm planning a trip to NYC between Thanksgiving and Christmas, so that is something to look forward to.

by Anonymousreply 13June 20, 2022 2:36 AM

R13- Where do you live?

by Anonymousreply 14June 20, 2022 2:37 AM

Our summer hasn't begun yet. I've been freezing my ass off in the PNW.

by Anonymousreply 15June 20, 2022 2:39 AM

I'm so with you R4. There's something about those first Fall crisp days and chilly nights that appeals so much to me. I always loved the holidays as a kid. Not that my childhood was so perfect but something must've stuck with me. I'm going to try to enjoy this year's holidays. Until then, I am going to make the most of this hot yet rainy as hell summer here in Virginia.

by Anonymousreply 16June 20, 2022 2:47 AM

I dread summer and look forward to fall and the holiday season. I used to not like the holiday season, but it’s a relief after the summer.

I shopped all spring so that I can hunker down this summer and not have to leave the house too much.

I do like summer fruits, though.

by Anonymousreply 17June 20, 2022 2:49 AM

R17- Fire Island is filled with summer FRUITS 🍒🍓🍎🍍🍌 from June to August.

by Anonymousreply 18June 20, 2022 3:23 AM

OP, why not move to a climate that better suits you year round instead of wishing a quarter of your life away each year?

by Anonymousreply 19June 20, 2022 3:28 AM

It’s been hot as fuck in Denver. This city is a shithole.

by Anonymousreply 20June 20, 2022 3:32 AM

I am. My favourite time of year is September-January. Of course Kate winter always gets depressing.

by Anonymousreply 21June 20, 2022 3:42 AM

What's "Kate winter," R21?

by Anonymousreply 22June 20, 2022 6:57 AM

A Hallmark movie, Rose.

by Anonymousreply 23June 20, 2022 12:36 PM

It’s Kate Winslet

I was over the warm weather Memorial Day weekend.

by Anonymousreply 26June 20, 2022 2:06 PM

No, OP. I have come to fucking LOATHE the holidays. So much stress. So many OBLIGATIONS.

When my parents finally pass, I will stop all observance of Christmas. Completely. I've already stopped all observance of Thanksgiving (it's just another day, just another week, I do nothing special, I don't travel or visit with anyone... I do have most of the week off from work, so I just kick back and Netflix & Xbox).

by Anonymousreply 27June 20, 2022 2:07 PM

[quote]Give me cooler weather, colored leaves,

Oh, I’ve got my eye on you, fella!

by Anonymousreply 28June 20, 2022 2:16 PM

so a fattie can't wait until the holidays when everyone expects them to eat. shocking.

by Anonymousreply 29June 20, 2022 2:16 PM

I’m with you, OP.

100% with you on everything you posted.

by Anonymousreply 30June 20, 2022 2:17 PM

Can't wait to cradle my mug again.

by Anonymousreply 31June 20, 2022 8:05 PM

Pumpkin spice!!

by Anonymousreply 32June 20, 2022 9:19 PM

by Anonymousreply 34June 20, 2022 9:45 PM

Eat shit Christmas in June freak.

by Anonymousreply 35June 20, 2022 9:45 PM

Don’t rush the summer away, OP. July and August are special too.

by Anonymousreply 36June 20, 2022 9:59 PM

I'm enjoying summer. The only months I dislike are January, February and (to a lesser extent) March. Once Easter approaches, things start to pick up.

by Anonymousreply 37June 20, 2022 10:42 PM

I dont like summer, AT ALL. Peak hurricane season is also approaching so summer can kiss my ass.

by Anonymousreply 38June 20, 2022 11:03 PM

It's the most wonderful time of the year.

by Anonymousreply 39June 20, 2022 11:52 PM

I can bear it, but summer isn't my favorite. Too humid here.

I love Autumn the most. It's just a little brisk, not freezing fucking cold, I love the smell of woodsmoke from the fireplaces, the leaves changing color, and all the mosquitoes dying off. If there's somewhere in the world where it's like a crisp Autumn day most of the year, let me know, I want to go to there.

by Anonymousreply 40June 20, 2022 11:56 PM

Omg R40.

I love everything about what you wrote.

My favorite thing is the soft light of Fall.

I hate the harsh sun of Summer.

by Anonymousreply 41June 21, 2022 12:00 AM

This thread is 100% pure fat Frau.

by Anonymousreply 42June 21, 2022 12:33 AM

R42 is 100% fat CUNT!

by Anonymousreply 43June 21, 2022 12:34 AM

R1 why the hardest? What’s up?

by Anonymousreply 44June 21, 2022 1:56 AM

We were diagnosed with Covid in December 2020 & almost bought the farm, in agony, completely missing the holidays, which we love. In March, we finally moved out of LA after 42 years to the mountain, in a gated community, still in SoCal with four seasons. This past holiday season we were treated one night to Christmas Carolers standing in the snow & ice outside our home--that put the ribbon on a great Christmas season, & we can hardly wait for this next one! The tree goes up at Thanksgiving & stays up until Russian Orthodox New Years . . .

by Anonymousreply 45June 21, 2022 3:42 AM

Only for the heat relief, but now that fire season extends to October, it’s hard to get excited. I do love Christmas though.
