The Alphabet Mafia would be screaming if the same standard was applied that nobody gay...could take straight roles

by Anonymousreply 1June 15, 2022 5:49 PM

Gay people have played straight roles FFS. It used to be called "acting."

by Anonymousreply 2June 15, 2022 5:50 PM

I thought he was gay after they said that everyone but one actor was gay for that Midnight Kiss movie

by Anonymousreply 3June 15, 2022 5:50 PM

Jeez, the guy is allegedly an actor. He is playing a role, people. What's with this typecasting??? Nothing to see here.

by Anonymousreply 4June 15, 2022 5:52 PM

This is where they said that

[quote]Aside from the very first victim, all of the gay characters are played by out gay actors. Surprisingly, that directive came from the top. “Blumhouse and Hulu were very excited by this idea of casting queer actors to play characters,” said Smith, who admitted he was skeptical at first. “My initial reaction was, ‘Wait, if you’re saying a queer actor has to play a queer character, aren’t you also saying a queer actor can’t play a straight character?'”

It's the ghetto.

by Anonymousreply 6June 15, 2022 5:58 PM

Good for him. Actors should be cast according to their talent and not their real life sexuality. I know that’s not necessarily how it happens with out gay actors, sadly, but it’s a double standard if only gay can play gay yet gay actors are also allowed to play straight. This is not the hill we want to die on.

"Queer"

Still such a stupid word.

by Anonymousreply 8June 15, 2022 6:18 PM

R8 = faggot

I think we should still be more upset about the lack of good 'intimacy directing' from the rimming scene in White Lotus. It's like neither Lukas nor Murray Bartlett knew how rimming worked.

He is gay.

This obsession with asking people his sexuality is absurd. Last week a spanish singer came out because he was constantly asked about it. It would be ok if the singer wasn't a 13 year old kid

by Anonymousreply 14June 15, 2022 6:55 PM

He has a gay porn name.

by Anonymousreply 15June 15, 2022 6:57 PM

People generally enjoy straight men in gay roles more anyway lbr.

by Anonymousreply 16June 15, 2022 6:58 PM

r7 So fuck out gay actors then?

It's not a double standard when openly gay actors aren't even considered for straight roles.

by Anonymousreply 17June 15, 2022 7:01 PM

Pretty much all his gay roles are 3rd tier characters with a couple speaking lines and a make out scene. Who cares if the actor playing those is gay or straight. For roles like that it's only important that the actor is hot. But for projects like 'It's a sin' I actually prefer if the main roles are played by out gay actors

by Anonymousreply 18June 15, 2022 7:05 PM

Acting is pretending you be someone you are not.

The problem with casting straight actors on gay roles is that a lot of times they didn't cast the best actor for the role. There are a good bunch of actor who seem uncomfortable playing any intimacy (the Riverdale actor is a prime example of that) and some who feel the need to say how straight they are in every interview.

And of course, let's not pretend that most gay actors are not discriminated when they do a casting to play straight characters.

Exactly; but straights playing gays won't kiss.

by Anonymousreply 20June 15, 2022 7:14 PM

Hellooooo people think Bridgerton...I'm happy to kiss women thank you It's called ACTING

by Anonymousreply 21June 15, 2022 7:18 PM

Fancy that, the person who watches Bridgerton also happens to be a moron

Jonathan Bailey is one of the sexiest British actors out there so of course he can stay booked. I love how people ignored him in S1, fools, but now want to lick his taint. Get in line bitches, he's mine! After I get him to dumb the boyfriend.
