I guess Aaron Tveit’s performance of Mein Herr inspired them.
Schmigadoon returns for second season, will be set in Schmicago and spoof Fosse era

I could’ve sworn this was cancelled.

Literally no one wants this.
Except Cecily Strong.

It’s here! Sondheim, Hair and A Chorus Line will also be spoofed

It looks terrible, but I hate the "Well, that happened" style of humor.
by Anonymous | reply 5 | March 7, 2023 3:15 PM |
Meh. The first season was entertaining at first, but then grew tiresome at the end.
by Anonymous | reply 6 | March 7, 2023 3:15 PM |
Never was there less chemistry among two leads of a TV series.
by Anonymous | reply 7 | March 7, 2023 3:21 PM |
I love Cecily Strong but the first season was, at the same time, only enjoyable by people who loved musicals and constantly told you that musicals were bad and dumb.

Keegan-Michael Key can sit on my face after Tony Dokoupil gets up.

First episode wasn’t bad. I liked the Cabaret spoof.

I loved the first season. But I was clearly the only one.
Maybe because I have no love for the shows they're spoofing? Meaning, I am not a Broadway person at all.

Fun show, great cast, highly amusing.
Haters may suck it.
by Anonymous | reply 12 | April 5, 2023 2:35 AM |
Not enjoying this season as much. The song parodies seem too close to the originals this time. And maybe the “dark” tone is stifling some of the humor. I loved the first season.

What happened to Tituss Burgess, he looks so wan?
by Anonymous | reply 14 | April 12, 2023 4:09 AM |
Was Cecily Strong pregnant during filming, she looks huge in this? And she’s a fine singer as long as she not put up against professional, that’s doing her no favors.

How can Dataloungers not like a show where a main character is named "Frau?"
by Anonymous | reply 16 | April 12, 2023 1:05 PM |
Anything that riles up the elder show queens is OK by me.

I can’t keep up with so many streaming platforms. It gets on my nerves. Yes, I’m an old.

Does that Key guy have in his contract that his onscreen partner always has to be white, I don’t think I’ve ever seen him in a series partnered with a Black woman.

Does Kristin Chenoweth just take any role offered to her, regardless of size or appropriateness?

I don’t get the whole inclusion of Legally Blond: The Musical in with all the dark musical here and Jane is 30 years too old for the part.

Wait -- Meryl Streep is WHITE?

I guess nobody is watching this. 4 episodes in and only 22 comments.

I just discovered this series a few days ago. I loved the first season. The second isn’t quite as much fun but there are some good moments, especially from Alan Cumming and Kristin Chenowith.

The first season was sort of cute, but it very much was a one-off sort of thing. Won't be watching this.

I enjoy the offhand jokes the best, like Sally’s dead roommate being named Elsie, and the Turkey Lurkey finish to an unrelated production number.

I loved the first season but have been very disappointed in this one. The songs and script are both not as good this season.
by Anonymous | reply 27 | April 27, 2023 1:17 AM |
I just hope they call it quits after this disappointing season. No “Les Schmigerables,” please.

I’m verrry late to the party here, but the last episode of the second season was hilarious. Loved every minute, especially the opening number with Ariana DuBose. My god she can sign a song.

I enjoyed the first season but bailed on the second after a few episodes and had forgotten about it until this thread popped up.

OK, but I doubt deaf people would get much out of it.
Oh--and her name is DeBose.

I liked it.

Both Kay and Peele are mixed race. I believe both are married to white women.

Loved season 1. Watched a couple of episodes of season 2, but never got around to finishing the season.
Dark tone was a real turn off.
by Anonymous | reply 36 | January 18, 2024 10:09 PM |
I loved season 1 but disliked season 2. The writing and song parodies didn’t seem as sharp in season 2. I did think that Jane Krakowski was great in season 2. Aaron Tviet as a hippie, though, was a dud.
