I read the comments from the young women and read/listened to their posts and stories on Instagram. What Rachelle Vinberg shared is that she didn't know enough about herself or relationships to know how she was being manipulated and groomed. Even when things seemed strange and uncomfortable, she explained them away. It was with distance and therapy that she began to realize how she was harmed by Cary Fukunaga. She is a more mature young woman now, and can speak with clarity about what occurred in her relationship with him.

Sometimes sex is regrettable. That’s part of the experience, the chance you take. And there is power with sex on both sides of the equation. It’s just odd that people think something so primal has changed. Women use the prospect of sex for power all the time and it’s usually when things don’t go their way that it becomes a problem. The only way to learn is to take full responsibility for your own behaviour.
