Kevin & Nick have way better chemistry.

But it is very in-character for Nick to refuse to do projects like this.

It's been years, but I still remember being a kid/young teen watching the old Jonas sitcom on Disney Channel (I have younger sisters I babysat, so ofc I always had to watch this kind of stuff), and thinking that Kevin & Nick seemed like they were always flirting or in some kind of slap-slap-kiss antagonistic type of couple relationship, rather than just being normal brothers. They didn't fight like a typical older brother/younger brother pair, more like a ditzy perky bubbly girlfriend (Kevin) and an exasperated moody nerdy boyfriend (Nick).

They were on The View today, and I've never seen Kevin talking. Seems gayer than a Cher drag queen on a Pride float.

They say they're White Italian, known to have Black Afro-American grandparentage, and yet the eldest three (so the band, sans Frankie) all look just like Middle Eastern men. No chance of Rachel Ray's cousins representing her. A few winters years ago Rachel's aunt froze to death when she got locked out of Rachel's house while house sitting for her. Rachel didn't attend the funeral as her schedule was full. I doubt her cousins are speaking to her.

R30 Kevin seems really sweet, and very gay, and for that I feel deeply sorry for him.

We talk a lot of shit on this board about celebrities we think are gay or wish were gay, tongue-in-cheek, but this case seems one of those rare ones that is all too real and quite sad for it. How much of a chance did black-sheep Kevin have, born into an evangelising family of grifters and narcissist wannabe show-people who sold their souls to the Mouse? Coming out at any point in his young adult life would have been financially-disastrous, publicly-humiliating, and probably would have resulted in his disownment by the other Jonai (though given how shabbily his brothers and father and beard-wife appear to treat him, that may have been for the best..)

Anyway, he seems a genuinely nice and likeable guy, if a bit of a doormat and a himbo. He deserved to have boyfriend or husband openly, and a happy normal life. Maybe he was just born ten or twenty years too soon, missing the trend for stanning gay boyband members.

My youngest daughter’s first crush was Nick. She had his poster all over her room, along with the other bros. We, too, watched the show Jonas on Disney. I loved it, it was hilarious and very different from all the other shows they watched. I agree the brothers had an odd relationship, but I never saw them as being anything other than wingmen for each other.

I will always have a soft spot for the JoBros, especially Nick.

However —- I must fess up. I live in NJ & right before the 2020 election there were rumors floating around that Kevin was supporting DJT and was actually campaigning for him locally (but not officially.).

Don’t forget that Kevin knows DJT from being on The Apprentice.

While I too feel some sympathy for all these Jonai, I don’t have room for sympathy for anyone who is a friend or supporter of DJT.

Of course I can’t prove who KJ voted for. In fact, it’s funny, the JoBros did a video with Biden after he was announced victorious in Nov, 2020 & I always wondered if KJ was not pleased about that.

TBH, I wouldn’t be surprised if Nick supported DJT. Joe I doubt even votes, or knows anything about politics, or current events. He looks like he is wasted out of his gourd every time I see his face. Nick smokes cigars and drinks and is a diabetic with insulin dependency. IDK how THAT works, but it pisses me off that he is a spokesman for Juvenile Diabetes. Now, about Frankie. My daughter who loved Nick, her best friend from high school, a gay man, went to college in Nashville, a school for song writing and arts. Living in his dorm was FJ who attended at the same time. Our gay friend said FJ was a hoot, really wild & eccentric sense of humor & just a regular guy who did not want to be known for his last name. They ate a lot of meals together and saw. each other in passing or at classes.

Our friend is still in Nashville, but looks like FJ didn’t stay there very long.

My little sister was a Joe girl😅and she loved Zac Efron even more. Had giant posters all over her bedroom ofc..

The sitcom actually wasn’t as awful as most assume, especially the first season. The writers must have come off better more adult sitcoms, because the writing could sometimes be sharp and witty and full of innuendo in a way not typical for D!sney, and the plots while seemingly generic occasionally had a zany creative twist. It seemed in on the joke. Not saying it was Hitchcock, just that it had a little more to it than the dreck they put out nowadays. It felt like more of a fit for ABC than D!sney Channel.

The brotherly relationships were so weird and atypical—Nick & Joe seemed like mean-girl besties, Joe & Kevin like they shared one braincell, and Kevin & Nick like a squabbling badly-matched domestic couple as I’ve said. The two girls in it also seemed like hags, especially the sporty dykey fangirl one who the show attempted to pair romantically with Nick (total fail).

It was obvious over a decade ago. My teen self clocked Kevin right away. And Josh Peck for that matter (was more of a Nickelodeon kid tbh).

There’s an article online explaining why the show happened. Someone contacted Frankie and wanted him onboard, but another Jonas had to agree to be in it too. Frankie talked Kevin into it. Frankie is kinda fucked up, but looking for a second chance so to speak. He was deeply into drugs and alcohol in his teens, despite being quite intelligent, enough to graduate high school at 15. My perception of the interview was that growing up and being dragged around hotels around the world took a weird toll on him as a child. People latched onto him because of whom his brothers were. He’s still on shaky ground as far as it appears to me, but he insists he’s been getting counselling. Nick and Joe are known to treat Kevin like shit, they admitted as much in their last bio video. So it’s not without a possibility that they treated Frankie like shit too, seems to be a hobby of theirs.

That video was shocking. When Kevin expresses hurt and feelings of rejection over how his brothers behave toward him, Nick & Joe essentially outright tell him with smirks and grit-teeth “sorry YOU were hurt”—no real apology or admission of compassion, empathy, remorse. I remember seeing it and thinking that I’d never let my siblings get away with treating me that way.

It’s at least borderline-abusive. Kevin, despite being the oldest and physically largest, is clearly the least aggressive and assertive and selfish, and Nick (especially Nick) and Joe seem to prey on this quality. It makes me look askance at Nick & Joe, because you know if they treat their loyal devoted sweet big brother (and possible little brother too) this way, then they’ll probably end up treating their spouses & kids like shit too—pass-agg, mean, bullies never stop at just one victim. Plus, if Kevin is gay (seems like it), then one can’t help but feel the other brothers attitude is somewhat homophobic (yes, bisexual sluts can be homophobes)...

There was a point in the early-mid 2010s when Kevin seemed to be pulling away from them and doing his own thing, financially and creatively. He had a few startups that did pretty well, a real estate portfolio. This was before that cringeworthy reality show about him and his wife. I think much of Kevin’s problem is that he’s too soft a touch with his family, and too dependent on their presence and approval. It’s easier said than done to cut ties and walk away, I know, but I really believe it would have served (still would serve) Kevin to do so. show about him

A sibling age gap of over decade seems like a lot to me. There’s only a few years (less than five) between me and my younger sibs, and still sometimes I feel like An Old when they start talking about something they’ve seen on TikTok or whatever. Can’t imagine trying to relate to a sibling who was new-born was I was already in middle-school. It would be more like being an Uncle/Aunt or a parental stand-in, surely?

And what was Mama Jonas thinking, anyway, having another baby after almost ten years of “no more kids, dear” (if I have it right, Nick was born in 1992 and Frankie in 2000/2001?). I’m guessing either she really wanted a daughter at last (bad luck), she/both parents didn’t like empty-nesting, or Frankie was an Oops kid.
