Datalounge's Favorite Supermodel

The last option wouldn't fit in just one space.

by Anonymousreply 72May 30, 2022 11:20 AM

Ypir.

by Anonymousreply 1May 21, 2022 4:50 PM

I did make the poll for people who had taste.

Keep your low-taste options out of here!

by Anonymousreply 2May 21, 2022 4:59 PM

I was a ‘90s teen, so I vote for either the chameleon (Linda) or the classy one (Christy). Naomi is an excellent model, but her anger management issues are a turn off.

by Anonymousreply 3May 21, 2022 5:05 PM

I voted for Linda immediately and literally CACKLED at the last 2 options.

by Anonymousreply 4May 21, 2022 5:17 PM

What a stupid list.

R5 looks like drag queens in an Almodovar film.

by Anonymousreply 6May 21, 2022 5:31 PM

Yep, she looks like Caitlyn Jenner. Rightly left off.

by Anonymousreply 7May 21, 2022 5:31 PM

None could waddle a runway like Tess.

by Anonymousreply 8May 21, 2022 7:23 PM

No Cindy Crawford?

by Anonymousreply 9May 21, 2022 7:29 PM

Yes, no Cindy Crawford. No Cindy Crawford.

by Anonymousreply 10May 21, 2022 7:31 PM

Esme Marshall.

She is still striking. And nice.

by Anonymousreply 11May 21, 2022 7:51 PM

I've always loved Christy Turlington. She's the "smart" supermodel who actually finished college. I once went to her book signing at Neiman Marcus in Beverly Hills. I met her and had her sign my book and a Vogue cover she was on. She asked what my name was and where i was from. After she signed it I went up the escalator which was right in front where her signing table was to shop for about an hour. When I came down the escalator again she looked at me and said "Hey Chris". I was surprised she remembered my name. Her classic features were immortalized when her likeness was used for the official mannequins at the Metropolitan Museum of Art Costume Institute Although she does the occasional modeling stint now and then she has spent most of her post modeling days advocating for women's health rights and raising her family with actor Ed Burns.

by Anonymousreply 12May 21, 2022 8:57 PM

Your name is basically her name r12, if she were going to remember anyone's it would be yours.

by Anonymousreply 13May 21, 2022 9:05 PM

[R13] Whatever the reason, I was still impressed. She had signed a ton of books by then. A lovely person.

by Anonymousreply 14May 21, 2022 9:08 PM

I never thought either Janice Dickinson or Cindy Crawford were good looking. Both had a hard look even in youth. Like a diner waitress who'd give blowjobs out back for five dollars.

by Anonymousreply 15May 22, 2022 9:12 AM

Seems pretty clear that the favorite is Linda.

by Anonymousreply 16May 22, 2022 12:20 PM

Overall, I'm satisfied with my poll choices.

by Anonymousreply 17May 22, 2022 12:22 PM

Hilarious the Christie Brinkley votes. That would be 100% frau.

by Anonymousreply 18May 22, 2022 12:23 PM

I prefer Jacey Ethalion

I'd start a thread for male supermodel... if I knew a single one.

by Anonymousreply 20May 22, 2022 12:54 PM

Margaux Hemingway

I only clicked on this because I was expecting an Ypir thread. I am disappoint.

by Anonymousreply 22May 22, 2022 12:56 PM

Me too, Ypir now, Ypir forever

by Anonymousreply 23May 22, 2022 12:58 PM

Who is Ypir?

by Anonymousreply 24May 22, 2022 1:00 PM

[post redacted because linking to dailymail.co.uk clearly indicates that the poster is either a troll or an idiot (probably both, honestly.) Our advice is that you just ignore this poster but whatever you do, don't click on any link to this putrid rag.]

Anyone but Cindy basic bitch Crawford.

by Anonymousreply 26May 22, 2022 1:13 PM

Fucking Paulina! You blind fucks!

by Anonymousreply 27May 22, 2022 1:25 PM

They ALL look like drag queens in that photo, R6.

by Anonymousreply 28May 22, 2022 2:01 PM

Christie Brinkley was gorgeous, but she never seemed very model-like.

by Anonymousreply 29May 22, 2022 2:37 PM

Cindy Crawford, not Christie Brinkley, is the ultimate frau supermodel.

by Anonymousreply 30May 22, 2022 3:43 PM

That trademark Linda smile®

by Anonymousreply 31May 22, 2022 3:56 PM

Linda always seemed to have a bigger fanbase of gay men than the other supermodels.

by Anonymousreply 32May 22, 2022 4:04 PM

Ancient crone here, Jean Shrimpton was THE FACE of the sixties until Twiggy came along.

by Anonymousreply 33May 22, 2022 4:07 PM

r30, I would argue that Kathy Ireland is the frau 'supermodel'

by Anonymousreply 34May 22, 2022 5:09 PM

Love her, hate her it will always be Linda.

by Anonymousreply 35May 22, 2022 5:11 PM

r29 she was more of a pin-up type poster girl for horny teen boys.. she WAS gorgeous but not super runway material

by Anonymousreply 36May 22, 2022 5:14 PM

Of the models whose 'act' was 'All-American girl next door for straight man ogling and frau relatibility' like Cindy Crawford, Kathy Ireland, Cheryl Tiegs, Brinkley was the best looking and the one who came closest to high-fashion.

It's not a niche I'm very fond of, but she did it well (and BETTER actually than the others) but it's niche and needed to be represented in the poll.

by Anonymousreply 37May 22, 2022 5:23 PM

"Fraus" would pick Kate Moss or Naomi Campbell as the ultimate supermodel, R30.

by Anonymousreply 38May 24, 2022 12:06 AM

It will always be Ypir for me

She’s timeless

by Anonymousreply 39May 24, 2022 12:09 AM

Who the fuck is Ypir?!

by Anonymousreply 40May 24, 2022 12:15 AM

Linda , Cindy and Naomi know Christy beat them in runway and especially in print. Look at this random unretouched shot. Christy makes them all look either short, manly or like no neck monsters and she made their thighs look twice as big as hers.

by Anonymousreply 41May 24, 2022 12:18 AM

Speaking Kate Moss...I watched Unzipped last night ...skipped right to the show. I can’t believe KM is even 5’7”...she looks much smaller than that

Linda E, might have been a whining pain in the ass but she really too over the runway

by Anonymousreply 42May 24, 2022 12:24 AM

R42 Those nostrils though.

by Anonymousreply 43May 24, 2022 12:25 AM

She was pretty, not gorgeous but she had that something that set her apart from the other in print and on the runway..

it stopped getting Vogue when their era was over and they put Oprah on the cover...the 90s was a great time for model watching

by Anonymousreply 44May 24, 2022 11:44 AM

Is Christy what one would refer to as “spicy white”?

by Anonymousreply 45May 24, 2022 11:49 AM

I always enjoyed seeing Kristin McMenamy. She really worked. She had many looks and walked a catwalk better than anyone.

by Anonymousreply 46May 24, 2022 3:52 PM

My vote goes to Jerry Hall.

by Anonymousreply 47May 24, 2022 4:08 PM

Why do you guys care about this stuff?

by Anonymousreply 48May 24, 2022 4:37 PM

Other: Cindy Crawford

Even though she looks like Caitlyn Jenner and she resorted to pimping her family for publicity, she really was the best all-around model from the Supermodel era. She was great in print and on the runway. And even though she could be stilted on-camera, she took advantage of opportunities.

by Anonymousreply 49May 24, 2022 4:53 PM

No matter who we believe was the best, it was the greatest model era. Not one of the newbies can come close to the models of the 90s

by Anonymousreply 50May 24, 2022 5:00 PM

Young Kate Moss was so zeitgeisty.

by Anonymousreply 51May 25, 2022 7:18 AM

[quote] "Young Kate Moss was so zeitgeisty."

Thanks to Calvin Klein, mainly.

by Anonymousreply 52May 25, 2022 10:52 AM

r48 If all we posted about was the daily murder of children, gas prices and other miserables shit we have to live with, our heads would implode ....this is fun fluff

by Anonymousreply 53May 25, 2022 11:14 AM

Naomi Campbell is still stunning. Her presence was, is and always will be off the charts. It's a pity she's got such a temper.

by Anonymousreply 54May 25, 2022 6:14 PM

What am I, chopped liver?

by Anonymousreply 55May 25, 2022 7:03 PM

You're not as good as Jean Shrimpton.

by Anonymousreply 56May 25, 2022 7:09 PM

Hallo?

by Anonymousreply 57May 25, 2022 7:29 PM

R54 she always looked like a thick neck linebacker next to Christy and Linda.

by Anonymousreply 58May 25, 2022 8:12 PM

r58 Huh? She absolutely did not. Naomi had a lean dancer's body.

by Anonymousreply 59May 25, 2022 8:43 PM

r52 And her Corinne Day photographs in The Face, where Calvin Klein first saw her.

by Anonymousreply 60May 25, 2022 8:45 PM

R59 see the photo @ R41, Naomi was a short neck stump next to Christy!

by Anonymousreply 61May 25, 2022 8:48 PM

r61 I think you are exaggerating.

by Anonymousreply 62May 25, 2022 8:55 PM

[quote]Is Christy what one would refer to as “spicy white”?

I think she qualifies.

by Anonymousreply 63May 25, 2022 8:58 PM

Tess is what is known as 'sweaty white'

by Anonymousreply 64May 25, 2022 9:00 PM

[quote] "] And her Corinne Day photographs in The Face, where Calvin Klein first saw her."

Absolutely, R60.

by Anonymousreply 65May 25, 2022 9:14 PM

Kate Moss was the last supermodel.

by Anonymousreply 66May 25, 2022 9:16 PM

Edith Massey.

by Anonymousreply 67May 25, 2022 9:23 PM

There is only one Super Model: Carmen Dell’Orefice

She started modeling at age 15 in 1946 as was still working in her 80's in 2012.

by Anonymousreply 68May 26, 2022 3:18 AM

R68 She bought herself an upper lip I see.

by Anonymousreply 69May 26, 2022 3:19 AM

r66 Gisele in the 2000's is generally thought of a the last true supermodel.

by Anonymousreply 70May 26, 2022 4:24 AM

[quote]Why do you guys care about this stuff?

I'll run with anything that takes me back to the 90's.

Today it's supermodels.
