From the same team who made Normal People. Sadly the two leads have zero chemistry, unlike Daisy Edgar-Jones and Paul Mescal, who were definitely fucking.
DL Favourite Joe Alwyn stars in Conversations with Friends, on BBC3 and HBO tomorrow night

Next Bond

The lead actress is so bland with no sex appeal at all. I don't understand why he wants to boink her.
And Joe hardly ever presents his full rear to the viewers!

Lord, how tall is he, stretched out on that bed on top of her he looked like he was giant height?
by Anonymous | reply 3 | May 15, 2022 8:29 PM |
He is giant. 6ft 2. The actress playing Francis is ugly.
by Anonymous | reply 4 | May 15, 2022 11:57 PM |
He's hot. He has fuck me bedroom eyes. Beautiful mouth. Yeah. I can see him as the next Bond. If he got it Taylor would break up with him. Betcha.

He’s coming off as such a Hemsworth in this.

The lead actress always, I mean always, had this facial expression the whole time, she looked like a constipated Debra Winger. The whole series went down the shitter just because of her.

It’s on Hulu, folks!

Who?

Frances is supposed to be studying English Lit at Trinity but she's a far cry from the usual eloquent English student. Both Frances and Bobbi look grubby for some reason.
Passive gentle Joe was typecast as spazzy Nick. I was more interested to see him play Sebastian in Brideshead but that seems to have fallen through.

The ending was absurd. The characters were absurd. The acting was OK. Joe Alwyn is attractive but not memorably so. Hated his feathered 70s hairdo. Is that in style again? I don't see him becoming the next Bond, but this wasn't the sort of role in which any actor could seem that appealing either. A wishy washy man with a history of depression. He was a douche but so was the main female character. I guess I don't understand why they made this movie or why people liked the book.

I disliked Normal People but I kind of loved this. Go figure. The characters are much more relatable to me. It's also beautifully shot.

"I'm socially awkward and SO proud if it".
That's what I get from the scene I watched.
I guess young people like R12 identify with it.
by Anonymous | reply 13 | June 13, 2022 1:37 PM |
I only watched part of it but I thought Joe Alwyn's character was predatory.

Conversation With Friends has got me into a sunk cost fallacy scenario. I started watching it on a plane, and I’m 8 episodes in, and can’t believe there are hours to go.
Who thought this mousy bitch would be interesting enough for a dozen episodes? It’s such a fantasy. This plain, boring, pallid girl has a sexy biracial American ex sulking over her and a famous actor, sexy enough to be labelled a toyboy to his La-Di-Da wife, drooling over her.

Lead actress = poor man’s Jessie Buckley.
Joe Alwyn is miscast. He is a cold and and passive type and he’s supposed to be sort of depressed and sweet. Yet he gave the best performance on the show, which… yeah.
by Anonymous | reply 16 | April 12, 2024 8:23 PM |
R16 no, he didn’t. He has no charisma. No charm. And he was miscast.
The lead is a great actress and she a chameleon. She played Venetia in Saltburn and you would never know it’s her.
by Anonymous | reply 17 | April 12, 2024 8:27 PM |
She was the weakest link in Saltburn and she’s the weakest link here.
by Anonymous | reply 18 | April 12, 2024 8:53 PM |
Also, was Nick supposed to be Australian?
by Anonymous | reply 19 | April 12, 2024 8:54 PM |
She was far from the weakest link in this nor Saltburn. Her bathtub scene alone was amazing in Saltburn. Loser retard.

A fine way to refer to your favourite actress.

Minus the hair gel, it was giving me Michael Douglas in Wall Street.
