Viewing party, DL?
I thought it was to be private, but of course I forgot who we were dealing with. Of course Wynonna and Ashley want it televised. And I’m all in!

Will it be open casket? I heard the death scene was a big mess.
by Anonymous | reply 1 | May 12, 2022 3:49 AM |
They already had a private one last Saturday. I knew there would be a public one at the Ryman, that has become the standard in country music, since Tammy's.
by Anonymous | reply 2 | May 12, 2022 4:10 AM |
Will she sing?
by Anonymous | reply 3 | May 12, 2022 4:19 AM |
From there she will lie in state at the Rotunda.
by Anonymous | reply 4 | May 12, 2022 4:32 AM |
Will Ashley be performing freelance abortions to honor her mother’s suicide?
by Anonymous | reply 5 | May 12, 2022 4:34 AM |
R1 Do tell…
by Anonymous | reply 6 | May 12, 2022 5:43 AM |
If it’s open casket I hope they get her makeup right, especially if it’s broadcast in 4K HD.
by Anonymous | reply 7 | May 12, 2022 6:21 AM |
sad.
by Anonymous | reply 8 | May 12, 2022 5:51 PM |
You know, I might actually tune into this, just to see what kind of crazy, wheels off, hot mess this whole thing is. Cue the Casket Dance-off!
by Anonymous | reply 9 | May 12, 2022 5:54 PM |
R4 I heard "Rotunda" was singing solo to honor her mom.
by Anonymous | reply 10 | May 12, 2022 6:05 PM |
Wynonna makes me nervous. Will a vacant building be hosting her adjacent to her mom's funeral venue?
by Anonymous | reply 11 | May 13, 2022 1:50 AM |
Jesus Christ, who has to do that drag queen make up on that mess?!!! They're gonna need some Bondo!

Where?
by Anonymous | reply 14 | May 14, 2022 6:01 AM |
No Dolly? No Loretta?
by Anonymous | reply 15 | May 14, 2022 6:08 AM |
Did anyone know she had a gun in the house?? GAH!!! So sad....
by Anonymous | reply 16 | May 14, 2022 6:37 AM |
R15 Dolly sang at the private service and Loretta rarely makes public appearances anymore.
by Anonymous | reply 17 | May 14, 2022 5:53 PM |
Because that's how she rolls, I can see Wynonna going on "Mama, She's Crazy: The Judd Funeral Tour" and getting all sorts of country acts who can't make it in Branson (Statler Brothers, some spare Osmond) joining her on some type of countrywide tour
by Anonymous | reply 18 | May 14, 2022 8:49 PM |
R18 She has already said she plans on doing the tour that was scheduled for this fall, Martina McBride had already signed on as their supporting act. I assume if Wy wants her to Martina will fill in for Naomi. It is true you could rarely ever hear Naomi singing with Wy but the harmony is missing without her.

Well, they broadcasted DAYS of Aretha Franklin’s funeral, complete with multiple outfit changes for the body, and everyone from CNN the the Obamas gushed and swooned and cheered it on like it was the second coming of LiveAid.
So what’s the problem with televising a one-off funeral for that crazy and unfortunate woman? (Other than the pure tackiness and macabre of it all..)
by Anonymous | reply 20 | May 14, 2022 11:16 PM |
I will say this funeral is one of the latest examples of major media companies deciding to make a play for Nashville. The funeral will be held at the Ryman which is co-owned with other things such as the Opry and their own broadcast network Circle. NBCUniversal just made a major investment in that company. CMT is a Paramount network, The Judd's final appearance at the beginning of last month was on the CMT Music Awards which now airs on CBS(also Paramount owned), after they dropped the ACMs which is now on Amazon.
I'm afraid these media companies are eyeing Nashville as the last frontier to fully dominate the entertainment culture of the US. Some of it might be good. With NBCUniversal's investment in the Opry company, I could see their theme park division maybe building a new Opryland. The closing of the original is still taught in business classes as a stupid decision. But, in the end I suspect it will be bad for the genre, as a whole.

Martina McBride at least used to have an amazing voice, even if a lot her songs were formulaic crap. It's sad that she's been reduced to this, but I guess one does what one must!
by Anonymous | reply 22 | May 14, 2022 11:55 PM |
R22 Looking at her tour history I didn't realize she was a headliner on the Lilith Fair tour in 1998-99. Also I would've killed to have seen her Virginia Slims on the Legends tour which also featured Regina Belle, Gladys Knight and Barbara Mandrell.

Who's got a link for a live stream of the funeral today?
by Anonymous | reply 24 | May 15, 2022 9:06 PM |
Casket or cremated?
by Anonymous | reply 25 | May 15, 2022 9:45 PM |
Will there be a 21-gun salute?
by Anonymous | reply 26 | May 15, 2022 10:52 PM |
they are all crazy cunts!
by Anonymous | reply 27 | May 15, 2022 10:54 PM |
If you have cable it is on CMT.
by Anonymous | reply 28 | May 15, 2022 11:01 PM |
Wy is singing now
by Anonymous | reply 29 | May 15, 2022 11:06 PM |
I always thought Wy cleaned up well.
by Anonymous | reply 30 | May 15, 2022 11:09 PM |
Damn. I want to watch this.
by Anonymous | reply 31 | May 15, 2022 11:14 PM |
Loretta is 90 and is probably never appearing in public again.
by Anonymous | reply 32 | May 15, 2022 11:18 PM |
I'm sorry but the darker haired chick from Little Big Town always sounds drunk.
R32 Like the Queen, if she does it will be carefully planned. The best chance to see her in person would probably be at an event at her ranch, or perhaps if they manage to save the Ernest Tubb Record Shop again she might make an appearance.

For everyone who were saying Naomi was a bigot, her memorial is being emceed by a black lesbian that she considered a friend.
by Anonymous | reply 34 | May 15, 2022 11:23 PM |
I'm sorry but the light haired guy in the Gaithers gospel group looks like Barry Manilow.
by Anonymous | reply 35 | May 15, 2022 11:37 PM |
I want to hear a Wynonna and Ashley McBride duet on the radio soon. She wasn't perfect tonight but I can understand getting emotional singing on that stage, in front of Wynonna, and in memory of Naomi.

You made me spit out my drink, R26! You are so going to hell!
by Anonymous | reply 37 | May 16, 2022 12:02 AM |
That was the perfect send off for Naomi Judd. And, highlights why I love the country genre so much. The connection with the fans is unlike the fandoms of other genres. We aren't fans and they aren't stars, we're just extended family.
by Anonymous | reply 38 | May 16, 2022 12:21 AM |
So DL inspired me to tune in. What a cringe fest. Wynnona - wow is she large. And Ashley's face had that weird bloated pumpkin look. It looked like a good part of the seats were filled by the gospel choir(who did the heavy lifting). I suppose it shouldn't be a surprise, but what a spectacle.

Whoopi?
by Anonymous | reply 41 | May 16, 2022 12:43 AM |
I can't agree more with you, r38. There is a genuine connection between fans and the stars in country music. People who don't follow country will never understand it, but I totally get what you're saying.

Still dead?
by Anonymous | reply 43 | May 19, 2022 8:00 PM |
Is there any black tulle or white flowers to be had in Nashville or the rest of the southern mid-west after this weekend?
by Anonymous | reply 44 | May 20, 2022 2:56 AM |
Will Naomi be making an appearance on NPH's next Halloween buffet table?

Yes indeed, we too use "cookies." Take a look at our privacy/terms or if you just want to see the damn site without all this bureaucratic nonsense, click ACCEPT. Otherwise, you'll just have to find some other site for your pointless bitchery needs.
