I thought he was gay for some reason. Maybe I mixed him up with somebody else.

I remember being a little boy and thinking that the bachelor pad apartment set for Ross was the height of class. Lots of chrome, glass and black leather. Also loved the carriage house set - I think it was on the grounds of the Wexler estate. Sleep well sir.

This makes me sad. Jerry was so good as Ross, solid, understated.
This clip is less about Ross and more about Holly, but Ross and Ed have a lovely moment towards the end as they say goodbye.
RIP.

Making it a P&G death trifecta:
Kathryn Hays - ATWT
Jerry verDorn - GL
David Birney - Love Is a Many Splendored Thing

Ross plays a key role in my all-time favorite GL moment.

R1, Jerry and Ross deserve their own thread

R10, brilliant for the writers to have Ross, the d.a., take over questioning. It might not happen in real life but only Jerry could have done that -- he needed to do it. I love that scene.
Give me Ross Marler over pompous Mike Bauer or Tom Hughes (Holmes) any day of the week.

He was a great actor and handsome, but yet relatable at the same time. Like someone's very nice, hot dad.
by Anonymous | reply 14 | May 3, 2022 3:29 PM |
Wow, this is so sad. He was a fine actor, and seemed like a truly nice person. He lasted through more HW and production regimes at GL more than anyone else.

Guiding Light should never have let him go. Blake was rudderless without him. They were such a good dysfunctional couple. We never got to see their kids grow up. The show is so cheap they couldn't even have shown them on the holidays.

Didn't they offer him recurring, but then he said fuck it and decided to head to OLTL? He wasn't fired outright.

I have a prop campaign button that reads “Marler for Mayor” - I had one that said “O’Neill for Mayor” but gave that one to my sister in law.

Has Kathleen Kelleigh (Lanie Marler) posted a tribute yet? What about Carrie Mowery?
by Anonymous | reply 20 | May 3, 2022 7:50 PM |
I hope Miss Locher is ok. She must be in tears. First Kathy Hays, then that Lisa Brown tribute, and now this.
by Anonymous | reply 21 | May 3, 2022 7:55 PM |
Miss Locher isn’t taking any calls these days. Has anyone checked in on Don Hastings?
by Anonymous | reply 22 | May 3, 2022 8:16 PM |
What will happen to Miss Locher if Hubbard, Hastings, and Fulton go in quick succession? I don't even want to think about it.

He had quite the sexy voice.

I enjoyed him on OLTL.

Has anyone checked in on Hubbard, Hastings, Bryggman, Masters, Bruder or Widdoes lately? They’re all scheduled to go at any time.

[quote] Blake was rudderless without him
The character of Blake was already let-go at that point and was just a recurring character. When JVD left, that just reduced her to being on once a month instead of twice a month.
by Anonymous | reply 30 | May 5, 2022 12:44 AM |
Jerry VerDorn character Ross sleeping with his girlfriend (Holly) daughter (Blake) happened at the same time as the Mia/Woody/Soon-Yi scandal happened,
Asked to comment, JVD took Woody's side, saying there was nothing wrong with Woody & Soon-Yi being together

Anyone else recall the scene where Bert sought legal advice from Ross after she found one of Rita's used tampons in her pea soup in the Cedars cafeteria? Bert wanted to sue Cedars, but Ross told her that there was really no case and that she didn't have a leg to stand on. Wiping away tears.
