Andrew Garfield - I QUIT
Andrew Garfield has issued a statement saying he will be stepping back from acting in order to 'rest for a little bit' and 'be a bit ordinary.'
The actor - who had several high-profile projects in 2021 - confessed: 'I need to recalibrate and reconsider what I want to do next and who I want to be, and just be a bit of a person for a while.'

Why do these people think we care that they need to take a break?

If Andrew Garfield won the Oscar he could have quit on a high note.

I'm sure that will be the last we see of him!

Aw, now he and Will Smith can play together with Sandra Bullock - they all have retired

He campaigned HARD for that Oscar and was obviously devastated when he lost. I remember watching him on The Graham Norton Show months ago and he was acting like he had the Oscar win in the bag. This is what happens when you campaign too hard for the Oscar. Just ask Gaga.

Garfield lost his mother last year and was working his ass off. I think he can take a breather without you catty cunts all over him.

This headline is misleading.
He was doing an interview with Variety. They asked him what's next.
He said he's taking a break.
No mention of quitting acting.

I wish he would quit.
We've all grown tired of Andrew's shit.
He has enough money.
Now just leave.

[quote] He said he's taking a break.
When you do that, you quit

Taking a break is not an option for the truly ambitious. He is not cut out for this. Hollywood requires ambition above all. Taking a break is basically career suicide.

IMDb says he's committed to a mini-series of Brideshead Revisited (again?) and has two other films in development.

He wants to devote more time to finding Mr. Right.

BREAKING NEWS:
You've been quite ordinary for a long time, Andrew.

Geez, I usually understand when a celebrity gets DL's ire aimed at him.
This one, not so much.

Since the world has been in a pandemic for two years - hasn't he already had a break?
Or was he working non-stop during the pandemic?

Will echo other responses here: he didn’t “issue a statement,” he said offhand during a Variety interview that he’s taking a break after a busy year of Tammy Faye, Tick Tick Boom, Banner of Heaven, and Oscar and Emmy campaigns for the above.

There's no way he could've thought he was going to win for that annoying performance in that piece of shit film. Smith and Cumberbatch were always the front-runners through the season.

It is kind of weird, r20. HOW DARE YOU STOP WORKING, EVEN FOR AWHILE! Is DL gonna send the slave patrol after him?

he spent 6 months (in quarantine) filming that mini-series that just started
I would guess that is why he wants a break.
He addressed this on The View today. Said he meant like a month of not acting, not a lifetime.
