Ok- calling it right now. The movie will be *good*. Maybe not great, but it will surprise people. Why? I haven't seen the script but I'll bet dollars to doughnuts it's what I call a 'subversive IP project.' Meaning that if you want to do a big, splashy, Hollywood movie (that's not FUCKING MARVEL) and actually have it greenlit, it's gonna be an IP. Todd Phillips did this pretty well with "Joker"where he had to push product but also succeeded in shoe horning in a more personal commentary about mental health and alienation. So, in our post woke era, they'll set up all the Barbie tropes in the first act, and demolish them in the second. Barbie ends up a feminist and walks away from the Dream House newly empowered. And Mattel sells a lot of dolls. Everybody wins.
