That is because the religious holiday stole the timing of pre-existing pagan fertility celebrations. Eggs and bunnies are symbols of fertility
Ēoster was a spring goddess associated with fertility and rebirth. The Christians coopted her name for their death cult's holiest day.

I always adored Easter because everyone would wear such fun vibrant color in church. Girls would wear white dresses with silk (or Polyester) belts and bows. Really feels like spring and renewal. Lovely, simply. lovely.
It is the most Stepford of all holidays and I live for the coordinated families pretending to find religion once a year. Plus garden parties. Uh, I love Easter. Only topped by Fourth of July.
