I know I'm vain, but Johnny Depp has to be THE most tragic loss of looks in Hollywood. Say what you want about him as a person, but this man was incredibly handsome for damn near forty years, from the start of his career to the end of the Pirates movies, then crashed head first into the wall.

I think Johnny has become mentally unstable, reflecting the ugliness going on inside him. His 2 lawsuits against Amber Heard are defaming him, and because of his strange behavior and appearance in the last few years he has been all but dropped by Hollywood. DiCaprio and Depp are "nonthreatening boys." I never really thought of them when I was young. DiCaprio always looked goofy to me though he was attractive at times like in The Beach and Blood Diamond. I thought Depp was in fact quite unattractive since those Pirates movies were huge when I was a teen. I didn't get why my female classmates were swooning over Jack Sparrow. I also knew him as Edward Scissorhands and Willy Wonka. So I just saw him as an oddball. Then I watched Cry-Baby on cable and didn't recognize Depp at all as the sexy hillbilly with a gorgeous face. I looked up pictures of him young and was shocked at how handsome he was. Public Enemies and Rum Diary came out and he looked very handsome and distinguished in that because he dropped the gaudy outfits and hair and showed his face. Unlike Brad Pitt and Keanu Reeves who while slobby, were still facially pleasant looking which makes it obvious they were very goodlooking as younger guys. Depp looked garish with his sweaty hair, sunglasses and awful clothing that obscured his good looks. There's a serious disconnect between what he used to be and what he looks like now.

I don't know what could be done for his skin, but he could certainly lose the weight, get a better haircut, and get his teeth fixed. He'll always have the eyes and bone structure, and taking care of the other issues would certainly improve his look.

Heard was for sure an abusive asshole but I don't buy the popular narrative that Johnny's just a lost sweet soul. He's so obviously laying it on thick and over-acting, it actually makes me angry how people eat it up.

I'm not sure what his real goal was with this trial. It won't redeem his career and Amber doesn't have much of a career, anyway. Its outcome will be that most of the general public will further dismiss him as an abusive addict. I agree with R429, Depp has a really bad toxic energy. It's actually shocking considering how he played characters like Gilbert Grape and Scissorhands, who were loving pure souls at their core.
