Very hot and very talented. Why didn’t he have a bigger solo career? Was he a cunt? Is he still a cunt? Why does Stevie nicks hate him?
My hubby is a broadway queen - which includes Babs. At a Babs concert in NYC Lindsey was seated next to us. He’s short. He watched the show with his wife? GF? The take away is : he’s short!

He's an egomaniac. He's very very talented, but so delusional.
I think he wasn't a bigger star because he was so out there creative, but much of his work wasn't commercial sounding, outside Fleetwood Mac.
He's also a total asshole.

by Anonymous | reply 4 | April 13, 2022 3:47 AM |
He's a brilliant musician. Stevie is adequate. However, her songs resonated with a vibe that went viral. Lindsey's still angry about that. It's as simple as that. You never hear Stevie say she's jealous of Lindsey. I'm posting an hour long interview with Stevie where she refers to it. She'd just released an album with Dave Stewart.
Caution: the interviewer is my next husband. He's not even my type, but we're getting married in Malibu on Saturday. I just need to let him know.

I can’t look at him without thinking of Eraserhead.
by Anonymous | reply 6 | April 13, 2022 4:05 AM |
Stevie makes him craaaazy.
I read his ex-girlfriend's "memoir" when it came out, and it clearly painted him as a narcissist and pretty violent. She was around from '77 to maybe '85. He drags her by the hair from behind the wheel of his car in their driveway over some stupid fight. He kicked Stevie on stage once, and they had a physical altercation that lead to him leaving the band in 1987. It was again about him not wanting to tour or something.
He's also epileptic and finds out after a show. I'm trying to remember more from the book. It's called Storms by Carol Ann Harris. Has anyone else bothered reading this?
by Anonymous | reply 7 | April 13, 2022 5:24 AM |
R7, the thing onstage with Stevie is positively scary. They were on the Tusk tour (Tusk was the followup to Rumours). Onstage in Auckland, NZ, from out of nowhere, Lindsey grabs some article of clothing and starts twirling around in a piss take of Stevie.. Then he swung his electric guitar at her. Accd'g to Stevie if she hadn't ducked she would've been seriously injured. The band left the stage and returned to play a dull show. I read a report from an audience member who said the crowd was shocked.

by Anonymous | reply 21 | December 10, 2022 8:11 PM |
I sat across the aisle from him on a short flight from Lana'i to Honolulu. Small plane so I can't vouch for him being short. Aside from the way too obvious "look at me dressing like the rock star I am" clothing he was very attractive.

I think he did great things to FM music, making it better. Watching that documentary of the making of Say You Will, however, made me wonder how any of them ever speak to him.

In her solo career, Stevie was smart enough to realize that just like in FM, her songwriting needed outside help to rein it in from its poetic excesses.
FM also reined in Lindsey's music's paranoid excesses, but he never allowed much collaboration in his solo material and it couldn't connect with larger audiences.

Too much coke R38, combined with general nervousness. Lindsey was also epileptic and the drugs probably didn't help. He never seemed all that comfortable in front of a camera to me, unlike Stevie. Mick Fleetwood was also flying high on coke back then and pulled a lot of goofy/scary faces.
There's a clip from SNL around the same period where LB is similarly twitchy and manic. He managed to rein it in a bit for the official video.

That soujnds like Stevie Nicks, except for the talent part. Of all the members of Fleetwood Mac I thought she was the least talented. She's always needed more talented artists (all of them men) to help her career: LIndsay Buckingham, Mick Fleetwood, Don Henley, Tom Petty, Jimmy Iovine. She fucked them all and used them all to help her make her songs sound better.

by Anonymous | reply 53 | December 12, 2022 12:54 AM |
Both he and Stevie Nicks have massive egos but I don't his conceit comes anywhere near close to hers. They had a tortured relationship; it should have ended cleanly, that is, they both should have gone their own ways and never seen each other again. But since they were in the same band they had to see each other, all the time. Nicks started a very public relationship with Don Henley, which didn't help matters any. In the midst of it all Buckingham was supposed to work closely with Nicks, helping her with her music the way he did. But it was very difficult because there were a lot of bad feelings between them. As he said in an interview, there were times when "I did...not...want...to HELP her." It does sound excruciating; here they were, with all the love/hate feelings between them, and they had to spend lot sof time together in the studio making records and go onstage together and sing their songs about about each other. No wonder Lindsay snapped onstage. I don't blame him one bit.

You type like a hysterial Mary. Like I said, you poor, pitiful hysterical thing, is that he SNAPPED. And considering the pressures he was under, no wonder. I CAN'T blame someone for losing control when they've had to take so much shit for so long. It was unfortunate what happened, but I'm surprised he and Nicks didn't try to kill each other, considering the bad blood between them.

I found a doc on youtube and there is a moment when LB is gently trying to persuade SN that her lyrics don’t make sense - she switches tenses which he feels weakens the song.
She argues that he wouldn’t say that to Bob Dylan and LB gently argues back that Dylan writes in an abstract way and her song is literal and simple and ought to make sense. She looks about to have a tantrum but ends it saying That’s the poet I am! And LB’s gentle eye-roll…
Check it out. Max cringe: especially from the 36:04 to 37:20 mark.

Yeah, Stevie’s argument that she’s a poet was lame, but I can imagine years of Lindsey being a condescending prick have taken their toll. And he knew he was being filmed for the documentary, so he was likely being more diplomatic than usual.
I like the song they were arguing about - “Thrown Down”. One of Stevie’s better songs.

[quote] nd in this interview she added that Lindsey still believes it to this day .
She cannot stop reiterating that is was SHE who broke off the relationship and that he always resented FM for "taking her away" from him. In other words, she claims he never go over their breakup and never stopped pining for her. What an ego! As for Lindsay, he said in an interview that Stevie never liked the fact that he found someone, married, and had children and she never had that. They continually snipe at each other and blame each other.
I that Oprah Master Class interview Nicks says she made a decision long ago never to marry or have children becaause that would prevent her from being "the artist" she knew herself to be. But that's horseshit. IN an early article about FM in The Rolling Stone Nicks was quoted as saying she wanted "one or rwo children." As for marriage, she up and married her best friend's widower, which was totally crazy but they both thought it was a good idea at the time. Nicks is so full of shit.

Stevie did not have children,” he continued. “She went down a different route and has placed more importance on her professional life. How that played out in the last three, four, five years… It’s hard for me to know what her mentality is towards me, but I know what mine is to her because I’ve been married for 21 years and I have three children and it’s the best thing that ever happened to me.”

If the door leading to the basement (IS there such a door? Or just a regular stairway?) was locked from the upstairs side, that would be an important clue.
Would suggest (2) a HIGH degree of familiarity with the house, (2) knowledge that basement girls lived there and were home, and (3) no intention of killing basement girls.
