Men Wearing Nail Polish

Yes, lots of college guys wearing black nail polish. I'm not sure what that's about.

Two guys on the bus the other day. Same bus, but they were not together. One was a young guy, another in his 30s.

I used to wear red nail polish on my toes and clear on my fingers back in the 90s. It was at the height of Queer Nation.

It's repulsive on men, especially the dark colors and black.

I see a lot of black, blue, and forest green (mostly on Instagram). I believe it's supposed to be subversive/edgy/woke. #yawn

I absolutely detest it, but what are you gonna do.

I've seen a few guys pulling it off well. I think dark colors work better than light ones. Those guys can also pull off certain eye make-up, Adam Lambert style. It needs to be done in moderation though. It needs to be barely visible.

On most guys I'd say it won't work though. And if you do it, do it right. The nails need to be well maintained. Chipped off paint creates the opposite impression of 'pulling it off'. That is just ugly.

I wore it 20+ years ago, (dark blue and black) but

A- I was young enough to get away with it

B- Guys weren't doing it to pretend they were "queer"

The black is probably do to the influence of a twitch gamers. It is a thing apparently.

I had my nails done with clear polish a few times, to see if I liked it/helped me (I get hangnails/torn nails constantly).

Didn't do a thing so I stopped.

Baseball catchers do it as it helps with signalling to the pitcher.

It's disgusting. No matter the age of the wearer or the color. I would imagine a yellowish green color with lumps, similar to nail fungus, would become all the rage should someone bring it to market. There is something about well groomed nails that says you care about personal grooming and not following the latest trend of painting your nails in the latest shade. Using nail polish over an extended period can cause damage to the nail bed and cause the nails to yellow and become brittle. Maybe that's the next big nail thing for men.

I’ve hooked up with guys wearing nail polish. It’s not really a turn on but doesn’t bother me either.

It's not for me but I couldn't care less what other people do to their appearance, it's just aesthetics, but I find it hilarious that it gets people so worked up. My uptight conservative brother won't get coffee at his local coffee shop because the young barista wears nail polish! Although, clear nail polish might be good to protect nails
