I'm watching Hell Night on TCM right now.

With Vince Van Patten, Peter Barton, and Linda Blair.

Jealous, bitches?

Not jealous, it's hellish!

I had no idea that young Vince Van Patten was so hot.

He still looks good, but he looked really good in this movie.

No, I thought it was a boring movie.

by Anonymousreply 3April 9, 2022 6:28 AM

Watching it too. I love the premise. Though sadly the film stock is in bad shape.

TCM shows '80s slasher flicks now? Yikes.

Interesting little tidbit about two of the actors in this movie.

A lonely old man from Illinois left Peter Barton and Kevin Brophy his entire $1,000,000 estate because he liked their acting. Lol.

Who's the guy on the right, R7?

I love that Vince was shirtless throughout a good deal of this movie.

It's nice seeing a hot shirtless guy in a horror flick, rather than the usual topless girl.

by Anonymousreply 8April 9, 2022 7:15 AM

Is Peter Barton gay?

I notice that he never married, or had a long-term girlfriend.

He's still attractive.

Oh, and I didn't realize that Linda Blair had such huge tits.

[R8] It's one of the producers of the movie.

by Anonymousreply 10April 9, 2022 7:30 AM

Linda gave a powerful performance.

by Anonymousreply 11April 9, 2022 7:42 AM

Creepy enough for the teen horror genre at the time, but it's no Psycho...

Looks like.

Next up? "Killer Party" from 1986.

by Anonymousreply 13April 9, 2022 7:47 AM

Speaking of hot guys...the was a Stephen King Creepshow movie where a group of teens were swimming in a lake, and a big black blobby "oil slick" type thing engulfed each one by one. A tall cute sexy tan blonde guy in black bikini stood out in more ways than one, he looked so good, can't recall the actors name. Maybe the techie DLs can make it happen... :-)

Barton isn't gay. Don't think he ever married, but has a daughter. Dated actress Kimberly Beck in the late 80s. I don't think he aged well. Worst of all, he a devout Trumpster. Ugh.

R14 here, sorry, the Creepshow movie hottie wore Yellow bikini briefs, not black...

TCM has been showing slashers for a long time. They often air He Knows You're Alone.

I like the movie and can relate to it as I was in the Greek system/college when this was made. What’s fun about it is how innocent sounding the dialogue is. Vince’s character says, “yes siree Bob” and another character says, “let’s get the show on the road.” No one talks like that now, and there was hardly any swearing, too. I don’t think I heard “fuck” once.

by Anonymousreply 18April 9, 2022 8:37 AM

I like that the movie ends on a rather somber note like Prom Night did. Linda's character has been through Hell and she's lost all her friends and exhausted.

by Anonymousreply 19April 9, 2022 8:54 AM

You're right, R15.

He looks terrible.

It's a bummer that he's a Trumpster.

What's with all these soap opera actors/actresses who are MAGATS?

by Anonymousreply 20April 9, 2022 8:55 AM

Haha R18, that's cute.

This other movie "Killer Party" isn't as cute.

It definitely has the 80's feel to it, though.

by Anonymousreply 21April 9, 2022 8:57 AM

Well Barton and Kunterlin Brown's characters were married on Y&R so maybe she rubbed off on him. Although I can't find anything to indicate he is a Trumpster online.

by Anonymousreply 22April 9, 2022 8:59 AM

He's posted pro Trump stuff on his Facebook, although he's either deleted some it or made it viewable only to Facebook friends. The I heart Trump picture is still up right now though. He also liked a plethora of conservative pages.

"Hell Night" is in my top 10 list of '80s slasher movies. It's got such a great atmosphere—they really went gothic for it, but the tone is playful. I love the period costumes and the mansion sets. It's an offbeat collision between a slasher flick and a haunted house movie. Linda Blair is actually pretty good in it, and Peter Barton and Vincent Van Patten are pure eye candy (Vince lounging around in those skimpy boxers especially). It's just pure fun from start to finish.

Fun fact: The film's director, Tom DeSimone, started his career making hardcore gay porn (his first film was titled "How to Make a Homo Movie") before landing his first feature, "Chatterbox" (1977), a comedy about a woman with a talking vagina.

Just watched this last night. It was actually quite suspenseful and was surprised that there was more than one murderer. Barton was very pretty, I felt bad for Linda Blair who was not at her physical peak and pretty much resembled an off-brand Pia Zadora in this, as she was definitely not in the same league as Barton and there is no way he would have been interested in her in real life. Also, lots of "dumb" decisions by characters to enable the scares to happen.
