What went wrong?
Anorexia.
Don't put your daughter on the stage Mrs. Worthington.

What started her anorexia?
by Anonymous | reply 2 | October 11, 2024 11:43 PM |
She went nowhere.

It's hard to be successful when you're named after a phony US pasta product shaped like a tear.

I've never heard of her, but certainly nothing whatsoever went wrong in that performance. It's fantastic.
by Anonymous | reply 5 | October 12, 2024 1:10 AM |
She's no Karen Carpenter.
by Anonymous | reply 6 | October 12, 2024 1:14 AM |
I saw her as a kid performer singing endless love. Very pervy.
by Anonymous | reply 7 | October 12, 2024 1:39 AM |
She was big in the UK as a kid and then became a one hit wonder in the US appearing on all the talk shows and variety shows.
by Anonymous | reply 8 | October 12, 2024 2:06 AM |
Is she a gay icon?
by Anonymous | reply 9 | October 12, 2024 3:17 AM |
Such a talent

The only time I’ve ever heard of her is when Mrs. Slocombe mentioned that she had purchased an album of Lena’s for her cat’s birthday because it was the o Lu thing that would get the cat to go outside in the rain to use the bathroom.

R12, I don't know what you mean
by Anonymous | reply 13 | October 12, 2024 10:14 PM |
I remember the movie of the 1960s about her guns. I think Gregory Quinn was in it.

Poor man's Bonnie Franklin
by Anonymous | reply 15 | October 12, 2024 10:22 PM |
A very tragic life
by Anonymous | reply 16 | October 12, 2024 10:23 PM |
I slept through it, r14.

Scotland here. My aunt owned a holiday flat in Rothesay and knew Lena’s family. They never got over what happened to her. She could have become a great musical theatre performer. She had the talent.

Never heard of her. Wow, what a tragic life. This is why I love DL!
by Anonymous | reply 19 | October 12, 2024 11:16 PM |
She did a variety show with Bonnie Langford who made a pretty big splash in Angela Lansbury's Gypsy as Baby June. At this point, Lena is the better entertainer and certainly more attractive. They were selling the concept that Lena was the new Judy Garland and Langford the new Shirley Temple.

Looks like there’s a new BBC documentary on Lena out now
by Anonymous | reply 21 | October 12, 2024 11:38 PM |
She was a fat slob.
by Anonymous | reply 23 | October 13, 2024 2:24 AM |
She was a constant on light entertainment shows in the 70s and early 80s in the UK, and had her own series. It was obvious that she was seriously ill when she went from a normal, chubby little girl to a haggard scarecrow seemingly overnight.
by Anonymous | reply 24 | October 13, 2024 7:49 AM |
She never looked too thin to me.
by Anonymous | reply 25 | October 13, 2024 4:36 PM |
Why does everything before 1980 look like Camp?
by Anonymous | reply 26 | October 13, 2024 4:43 PM |
R26, I don't know what you mean
by Anonymous | reply 27 | October 13, 2024 4:52 PM |
R26 Colleen Camp?
by Anonymous | reply 28 | October 13, 2024 5:14 PM |
r28 Love her!
by Anonymous | reply 29 | October 13, 2024 5:16 PM |
She should have been murdered after that "Carson" appearance. She's painful to watch.
by Anonymous | reply 30 | October 13, 2024 5:40 PM |
R25, take a look at this. It's shocking really.
by Anonymous | reply 31 | October 13, 2024 5:44 PM |
R31, why shocking?
by Anonymous | reply 32 | October 13, 2024 6:51 PM |
Shocking because she's so sickly thin.
And because her singing is so sickly uninteresting.
by Anonymous | reply 33 | October 14, 2024 1:01 AM |
R33, why uninteresting?
by Anonymous | reply 34 | October 15, 2024 6:02 PM |
I never heard of her until OP started the thread. I don't think she was ever much of a thing in the US. She definitely had her demons, poor girl.
by Anonymous | reply 35 | October 15, 2024 6:23 PM |
Her eyes are haunted, crazy.
by Anonymous | reply 36 | October 15, 2024 7:44 PM |
She seems sweet, if a bit dim, in this joint interview with her new husband. Odd to hear the interviewer joke that having anorexia "saves on some of the restaurant bills."
by Anonymous | reply 37 | October 15, 2024 7:56 PM |
Karen Carpenter and Lenz Zavaroni mash-up on "Superstar."
Karen is the winner.
Add this one to your summer curriculum.

R38, beautiful
