So brave, so talented, so beautiful!
When she was a victim at the 2022 Academy Awards.

She was quite cute in The Nutty Professor with Eddie Murphy

She's as beautiful as Halle and has a higher profile than Halle Berry being married to a movie star for 2 decades. Halle Berry has an Oscar. But Mrs. Smith has been preoccupied with living out her thug life fantasies and it all blew up in her face.

Only thing I have seen her in was on the TV show 'Gotham'. I think she wore the same dress on Oscar night.

Don’t forget Magic Mike XXL. She was robbed of her Oscar!

I watched this a few months ago. This was supposed to make Jada Pickett a movie star. She's the title character and is featured in 20 minutes of the film. Reading between the lines, she has been pissing people off forever.

The first line of the Wikipedia entry says it all:
[quote]Darlene "Woo" Barnes (Smith), an extroverted woman living in New York City, is notoriously talented at turning men into mush.

She’s a hanger on…so lucky to have latched her star on to Will’s. Real Housewife made good.

I've LOVED her as Camellia the Chameleon.
It's her true alter ego, after all.

Jada played Meg Ryan's lesbian best friend in "The Women"
Why would they cast her as a lesbian?
by Anonymous | reply 14 | April 2, 2022 8:16 PM |
She got the role in The Women because she is married to Will Smith.

But the question is - why make the character a lesbian. It was barely brought up, and just thrown in there for no reason
The character had nothing to do, and it just seemed like tokenism to make her character a lesbian
If you took out the lines, where she is referred to a lesbian, the script wouldn't even change

The one where she dies.
by Anonymous | reply 17 | April 2, 2022 8:24 PM |
My point is people tolerated her pissy attitude and hired her because she is married to a movie star. No more passes.

None of them.

to a completely uninterested audience at the Grove as she performed as ?Wicked Wisdom"

I liked her in "Set it Off"

I didn't see the remake and so have no context, but your weak complaint just furthers the narrative that being straight is normal and everything else is....not.

There was a time when Jada was actually likable - Jason's Lyric, The Nutty Professor, Set It Off, her cameo in Scream 2 - then she became really unlikable and humourless.

She was good on "Gotham," though I remember her most for a terrible line reading right about the time the show completely lost its marbles. It was supposed to be a campy joke but she read it straight, though everything about the scene was being played straight for some reason, like the director had forgotten what show they were working on.

She'd make a fabulous Medusa.

Omg I forgot about Wicked Wisdom. Ha ha!

Set It Off (1996) is what propelled Jada's career, that is a classic in the black community she was able to ride off that for a long time and get other roles. But other than that she hasn't done anything as memorable.
by Anonymous | reply 27 | April 2, 2022 10:29 PM |
As a kid I loved her in A Low Down Dirty Shame.
by Anonymous | reply 28 | April 2, 2022 11:02 PM |
No-one on DL would ever have heard of her if she wasn't married to Will Smith. That is an undeniable fact.

I really like Set It Off. I remember seeing it in the theater and most of the audience were tearing up at the end when that Gladys Knight song played.
Oh and Queen Latifah plays a lesbian. I remember reading an article about how she went to lesbian bars to research the role of Cleo.
Ummm ok

Jada was also good in Girls Trip. She showed she could still be funny.

R33 Is it actually the same thing as cheating, when there is a previous arrangement, or "open relationship"? It may make it easier (a la slippery slope) to break the rules in an arrangement, say compared to a monogamous relationship, yet I struggle with this one whether it's fair to use this term here.

apologies, above meant for R33

R4 The hell she is as beautiful as Halle Berry.

Are we supposed to like her acting? Is that what she wants? The harridan. Sour preaching holier than thou witch.
by Anonymous | reply 42 | April 5, 2022 10:54 AM |
Jada has pinched, hard features with beady eyes. She gives you shady. Her mother seems like a cunt like her daughter too.

I think she’s talented—way more talented than Will. She was great in Collateral. I don’t know what happened—she’s trying to become some social media influencer or something. Maybe she’s aging out of roles, which wouldn’t surprise me as Hollywood, as we know, doesn’t appreciate women after a certain age.
