Actors Who Will Never Will Competitive Oscars

Jim Carrey's alleged retirement got me to thinking about this, as he came close to scoring one. Here's the rest of my list thus far:

-Glenn of the Booty Shaking Kerfuffle

-Bradley Cooper

-Salma Hayek

-Alec Baldwin

-Laura Linney

-Amy Adams

-Mark Ruffalo

-Annette Bening

-Both Gyllenhaal siblings

Chris Hemsworth

Kevin Hart

Tom Cruise

by Anonymousreply 2April 2, 2022 5:39 AM

And Chris Pine

by Anonymousreply 3April 2, 2022 5:41 AM

I still think Amy Adams, Annette Bening, and even maybe Laura Linney in a supporting role could win.

by Anonymousreply 4April 2, 2022 5:42 AM

ScarJo

Pia Zadora and Bruce Willis.

by Anonymousreply 9April 2, 2022 5:55 AM

NO!

That’s NOT enough!

I want reasons WHY G won’t win.

Is she BLACKLISTED? What about the others?

by Anonymousreply 10April 2, 2022 5:57 AM

Just look at the above. There are not a lot of talented actors now.

by Anonymousreply 11April 2, 2022 6:00 AM

Bradley Cooper, after enabling Will Smith

by Anonymousreply 12April 2, 2022 6:02 AM

Who the fuck care about winning ghetto Oscars right now when my husband is a billionaire, homos?

by Anonymousreply 20April 2, 2022 6:38 AM

I hope Glenn gets nominated again to lose.

by Anonymousreply 21April 2, 2022 6:51 AM

-Kirsten Dunst

-Michelle Williams

-Carey Mulligan

by Anonymousreply 22April 2, 2022 6:56 AM

I won't be ignored.

by Anonymousreply 23April 2, 2022 6:57 AM

I also think Amy Adams will eventually win. Annette too.

by Anonymousreply 24April 2, 2022 6:59 AM

Amy Adams will probably go down the route of playing a disabled person to get an Oscar. Here are some Oscar bait role suggestions.

-Blind school teacher living in Germany during the Holocaust.

-Deaf lesbian pediatrician running an inner city Chicago clinic.

-War veteran amputee collegiate track coach in a feel good sports movie.

by Anonymousreply 25April 2, 2022 7:04 AM

I want Glenn to win. Kirsten, too.

by Anonymousreply 26April 2, 2022 7:07 AM

Andrew Garfield

by Anonymousreply 27April 2, 2022 7:11 AM

Can't they just give a lifetime achievement Oscar to Glenn. That way, she won't risk another humiliation being nominated and losing again. How much ignominy can one person bear?

by Anonymousreply 28April 2, 2022 9:55 AM

Daniel Craig

Penelope Cruz

David Duchovny

Any of the Culkins

Antonio Bandares

Eddie Murphy

Andy Garcia

Matt Dillon

Keanu Reeves

by Anonymousreply 29April 2, 2022 10:13 AM

Cruz has a competitive Oscar

by Anonymousreply 30April 2, 2022 10:17 AM

Tom Cruise

by Anonymousreply 31April 2, 2022 10:22 AM

I'm sure Glenn will win, or die trying.

by Anonymousreply 32April 2, 2022 10:31 AM

Ben Affleck makes my nether region all tingly so I’m just gonna type his name here because I don’t care if he loses. There is something about the way that man takes a public drubbing that is just HOT.

by Anonymousreply 33April 2, 2022 10:48 AM

OP here...I wrote the subject line of the thread right before sleeping. Of course it should've read: "Actors Who Will Never Win Competetive Oscars."

by Anonymousreply 34April 3, 2022 8:59 AM

^^^

Hey, OP. I think you were still asleep when you tried to correct it.

by Anonymousreply 35April 3, 2022 9:18 AM

Gary Cole. But he has been doing an exclusively tv career in recent years with only 1 or 2 indie films. At least Hollywood respects him as venerable.

by Anonymousreply 36April 3, 2022 9:20 AM

Bruce Willis

by Anonymousreply 37April 3, 2022 9:35 AM

Sadly, Willem Dafoe. He's a real fucking talent.

by Anonymousreply 38April 3, 2022 9:44 AM

It's very comforting to know that Chris Pratt will NEVER win an Oscar

by Anonymousreply 39April 3, 2022 1:12 PM

Is it just me, or does this thread make no sense whatsoever? OP flunked his ESL class.

by Anonymousreply 40April 3, 2022 1:15 PM

Johnny Depp

by Anonymousreply 41April 3, 2022 2:20 PM

Michael Fassbender. I hope I'm wrong.

by Anonymousreply 42April 3, 2022 2:28 PM

I do wish actors could win for purely comedic performances. For instance Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels were brilliant in Dumb and Dumber, in their way.

by Anonymousreply 43April 3, 2022 2:32 PM

I was going to suggest Johnny Depp too, R41. He should have got an Oscar for his impressive performance in Black Mass. I also think Ed Wood, Minamata and The Libertine were all Oscarworthy performances. However, he fell out with the Hollywood crowd decades ago. Add his psychotic ex-wife lying about him, because he refused to yield to her financial blackmail, into the equation means the likelihood of him winning an Oscar is nonexistent.

by Anonymousreply 44April 3, 2022 3:01 PM

Sylvester Stallone

Harrison Ford

by Anonymousreply 45April 3, 2022 4:07 PM

I'm still not sure why the actress who played Anita got hers, was it virtue signaling from the academy? I didn't find her performance remarkable. The movie was mediocre.

by Anonymousreply 46April 3, 2022 4:20 PM

Amy Adams’ career seems totally derailed.

I hope Bradley Cooper, Timothee and Zendaya for enabling Will Smith.

Tom Holland.

Glenn Close

Robert Pattinson

by Anonymousreply 47April 3, 2022 4:54 PM

Maybe

Oscar Isaac

Otherwise, not really feeling anyone at the moment for a win

I know Bradley is hoping he will win for playing homosexual Leonard Bernstein

by Anonymousreply 48April 3, 2022 4:57 PM

Glenn knows how to do DA BUTT y'all! Isn't she so cool?

by Anonymousreply 49April 3, 2022 5:05 PM

Bradley Cooper has an annoying face.

by Anonymousreply 50April 3, 2022 5:08 PM

R50 He really does. It's so off putting.

by Anonymousreply 51April 3, 2022 5:13 PM

David Spade

by Anonymousreply 52April 3, 2022 5:30 PM

It wasn’t a barn burner of a movie but J. Depp shut down all accusations that he can only play himself when he did Donnie Brasco. But I don’t think he’ll ever win if he hasn’t already. (I don’t remember and don’t care enough to look it up.)

He chose really messy people to emulate. Brando could act, yes, and Thompson could write, but neither knew how to live without being doped to the gills on drugs or deadly quantities of food. Keith Richards handled his drugs but Johnny’s dreams of rock stardom obviously died on the vine and the guy STILL hasn’t figured out whose fault his messes are. He’s got a laundry list of people he blames but his own name doesn’t seem to be on it. Damn sad. He was so pretty for so long.

by Anonymousreply 53April 4, 2022 8:38 PM

Depp was not a bad actor at all (especially compared to likes we have today) but he coasted far too long on his looks and spent more time trying to emulate his cultural idols than hone a craft. There were a number of far more talented actors in his age range (<10 years older or younger) that deserved the heights he had for about two decades, but they weren't as pretty.

by Anonymousreply 54April 4, 2022 10:00 PM

Dirk Bogarde. Never even nominated! 🖕

by Anonymousreply 55April 4, 2022 10:33 PM

Who would have thought that Glenn Close would become the film worlds Susan Lucci.

by Anonymousreply 56April 4, 2022 10:45 PM

r47 You inspired me to check Amy's IMDB page and her career really went down the shitter after Sharp Objects. Currently, she has Nightbitch in preproduction. She plays a stay-at-home mom begins to worry that she may be turning into a dog. Maybe this will be her big comeback?

by Anonymousreply 57April 4, 2022 11:05 PM

She also has the Enchanted sequel coming out. Theyre filming that now.

by Anonymousreply 58April 4, 2022 11:08 PM

Judge Reinhold

Matt Dillon

by Anonymousreply 59April 4, 2022 11:13 PM

Eddie Deezen

by Anonymousreply 60April 4, 2022 11:15 PM

[quote]Never Will

Oh, dear.

And a second for it taking sixty replies to get the first.

by Anonymousreply 61April 4, 2022 11:18 PM

Sharon Stone Annette Bening Glenn Close

by Anonymousreply 62April 4, 2022 11:20 PM

I thought sure Willem Dafoe won for Body of Evidence but I'm incorrect on that.

by Anonymousreply 63April 4, 2022 11:28 PM

Donnie Brasco is a brilliant film, R53.
