Slow Horses: The First AppleTV series I Truly Enjoyed
Yes, the first one. I watched two episodes and really enjoyed them. So many familiar faces of the Brit television.
Follows a team of British intelligence agents who serve in a dumping ground department of MI5 due to their career-ending mistakes. Led by their brilliant but irascible leader, the notorious Jackson Lamb. - IMDB

Sounds interesting, thanks for the tip. I Just realized my promotional subscription of HBO Max lasts a full year and not six months as I thought. I think that they extended it without my knowing. Anyway I will check this out.

This one is on AppleTV, and I enjoyed it even though normally I'm a shill for HBO programs.

It it about mentally challenged family members of Sarah Jessica Parker?

Jack Lowden is nice to look at. Is that Oldman's real belly or a fat suit? He looks like he lives in a sewer.

I enjoyed it very much. The opening chase scene was thrilling and very exciting. I like that the villains are now the Far Right, they've taken over the typical Muslim terrorist. It's the seedy side of spy movies.
Jack Lowden is very underrated definitely has loads of charisma, talent and looks. I also love that Freddie Fox is his antagonist. He's excellent as the rich snobby MI5 bureaucrat. Gary Oldman plays the most disgusting character on tv with his frequent smelly farts.

On the down side I have to stop everything and actually watch it in order to see the context and the lips attached to every utterance. Otherwise - it might as well be in Portuguese.

It’s really good!
I often turn on the captions for British shows R8.

I’d love to watch it but don’t have Apple+ and I’m not subscribing to another streaming service.

Apple Service is so cheap, it’s the same price as a Large Vanilla Latte at Starbucks.

I just saw this and it's really good! too bad it's only 6 episodes! I read that it's been renewed for season 3 and 4!
I saw an interview where gary said he was fat for a movie role before this project and he went straight into filming for this so there was no time to lose the weight.

Who is this very handsome man?

I loved it -- Oldman is spectacular as a completely unpleasant man whom you grow to somehow like, or at least, admire. Jack Lowden has to play the more difficult part in an ensemble of interesting oddballs -- the clean cut good guy, but he has enough charisma to pull it off. Everyone else in the show is also excellent, especially the underused Saskia Reeves.

Fun fact: this was the original title for "And Just Like That..." (as a comment on Carrie and the other aging gals) before it was discovered it was already taken.

R14, that guy--Jack Lowden-- is my pick for who should be the next Bond. He is ideal, he's 32 years old, over 6 feet tall and is an extremely talented actor (they want someone with acting depth and he has it. See Benediction.). IMO he is one of the most handsome actors on screen, he'd make men and women faint as Bond. SH is like his audition for the role but not sure if he wants it.

R17 Thanks! That’s just what I wanted to hear about, I’ll add it to my watch queue.

It’s excellent. The writers (and technical consultant) were very good at capturing trade craft without laboring over it. The story lines are interesting and it’s well cast and well acted.

Series 2 is dropping an episode every week. Final episode broadcasts on December 30.
The author has put out 12 Jackson Lamb novels so this show has the potential to run for quite awhile. I hope they follow the example of The Crown and book the cast to film two seasons back to back.

I literally just came across this by accident. I had no idea Gary Oldman was doing a series. Apple truly has the worst marketing.

I find the characters one dimensional and annoying compared to The Bureau or the original Tinker, Tailor..., but the second season is very watchable.

Fourth season starts today. I love having this on in the background.
