Compare this season 4 car chase with Tiffany and Kelly I’m the Pinto versus Sabrina in a similar situation in season 1.

Pillowcase Tiffany just allows the bad guys to run the Angels off the road, while Sabrina makes sure her bad guy goes over the cliff not her.

That clip from season 4 made me find Tiffany annoying, she’s not tough like Sabrina.

Not only did Shelley Hack rock in The King of Comedy, but she was also amazing in The Stepfather with Terry O'Quinn and Jill Schoelen.

Shelley tried to make a Cybill Shepherd type comeback in the mid 80's with "Jack and Mike".

It wasn't a bad show, but it was an obvious attempt for ABC to piggyback off their huge success with Moonlighting. They even had the brass balls to put it on right after Moonlighting. It got decent ratings, but it wasn't enough to give it another season.

I seem to recall that half-way through the season the powers that be suggested that Shelley work on her acting. Jaclyn Smith invited her to join her and Deirdre Hall's acting workshops which happened weekly at either Jaclyn or Deirdre's houses and consisted of them workshopping scenes together from Congreve, Brecht and Hansberry after which they would give one another extensive acting notes. Shelley refused and that was the death knell for her role on Charlie's Angels.

Gotta say, as shitty as Shelley Hack was in that season of Charlie's Angels, suffering the indignity of being fired from the show for being too poor an actress, she sure persevered.

Landing a Scorsese film, the play Vanities, and two series after that was quite something. (Three, if you count getting fired from Night Court before she taped an episode.) By the time she starred in Jack and Mike, she was quite good.

I'm listening to Randy Crawford's 1981 song "You Might Need Somebody". The music reminds me of Tiffany Welles striking poses while on an assignment from Charlie while she lived in LA.

Ah, I recall how glamorous Shelley, Cheryl and Jaclyn looked in the ballroom dancing episode. Those gowns are great.

Shelley Hack was too skinny and had bad hair. She did have a nice smile, and maybe she's a good person, because I don't remember ever seeing her in the tabloids. But I don't see the beauty so many others do.

The story was that Barbara Bach got the role and she even did an appearance on The Tonight Show to announce she didn't get it. The producers said she was too sophisticated which became a slap at Shelley. They also offered Barbara Carrerra who said no and Susie Coelho Bono was a finalist. Persis Khambatta who made a splash in the Star Trek Movie was also a top contender. You can see they were trying for some physical contrast but somehow ended up with Hack who looked like Ladd's sister.

Yeah r76 Shelley Hack and Cheryl Ladd did not resemble each other. They both had blonde hair and that was as far as it went for any resemblance.

I thought Shelley Hack was a decent actress. She did a great job on CA as Tiffany Welles.

Tiffany was an undefined character with undefined traits. They ended up using unfilmed scripts for several episodes that had been written previously with Kate Jackson in mind, and that’s why one reason the writing is all over the place in season 4.

A good actress would have gone out of her way to create her own character and interpretation of that character. Like Linda Gray, who essentially took what was essentially a background character in the first few episodes of Dallas and made Sue Ellen the female lead character on the show, just by doing little things onscreen that interested the producers.

Shelley didn’t do that in her first few episodes. Tiffany was bland and uninteresting. And that awful hair didn’t help either. By the second half of the season, the character became more defined and there were Tiffany centric episodes that were interesting, for example that episode set in a plastic surgery clinic with Tab Hunter playing a terrorist.

But it was too late. The ratings dropped, the era of jiggle television was coming to a close, and Shelley got the blame.

Also-there were other problems-the show did multiple episodes in season 4 with one Angel by herself for most of the episode while the other two had minimal screen time. This didn’t help bring Tiffany into the fold, and it moved from the original premise of the show, in which the Angels were very close friends.

She looked better when she became "difficult" and started doing her own wardrobe and hair. The bottom line though is that she was to east coast to fit in on that show. Shelley was not plastic pants and danskins.
