It's 11p wasn't this suppose to be over now, that's why the other categories had to be taped

by Anonymousreply 1March 28, 2022 3:02 AM

No. Flush this stupid event.

by Anonymousreply 2March 28, 2022 3:02 AM

Palate cleanser:

Campion did good. I like her very modest dress. It's probably sexist but I do think it's a good thing to be dignified when you're older.

by Anonymousreply 4March 28, 2022 3:02 AM

Her hair is stunning.

by Anonymousreply 5March 28, 2022 3:03 AM

If the Oscars need to focus on a non white group, next year go Asian. At least they have been classy all night

by Anonymousreply 6March 28, 2022 3:05 AM

This is the closest Beyonce will ever come to going to the BET awards.

by Anonymousreply 7March 28, 2022 3:05 AM

Will Smith was arresting according to TMZ and has left the theatre.

by Anonymousreply 8March 28, 2022 3:05 AM

Now they're celebrating a 28 year anniversary?!

by Anonymousreply 9March 28, 2022 3:06 AM

Is Demi Moore original G.I. Jane spiking on Twitter? It could be the best Hollywood buzz she’s had in years?

by Anonymousreply 10March 28, 2022 3:06 AM

Pulp Fiction cast presenting Best Actor? Is Frances McDormand pissed over not being nominated?

by Anonymousreply 11March 28, 2022 3:06 AM

Pulp Fiction rules!

by Anonymousreply 12March 28, 2022 3:07 AM

I'm so glad John Travolta is bald! That is a bold statement.

by Anonymousreply 13March 28, 2022 3:07 AM

Is Sacheen Littlefeather available to accept Will Smith’s Oscar?

by Anonymousreply 14March 28, 2022 3:07 AM

Travolta should have dumped the wigs years ago.

by Anonymousreply 15March 28, 2022 3:07 AM

From the first thread:

[quote] Does Jada shave her head so Will can pretend he's fucking a dude?

Will Smith is looking for you.

by Anonymousreply 16March 28, 2022 3:07 AM

I thought Gaga is presenting? Maybe the BP with Bradley Cooper?

by Anonymousreply 17March 28, 2022 3:07 AM

Oh, shit...

by Anonymousreply 18March 28, 2022 3:08 AM

Travolta got FAT.

by Anonymousreply 19March 28, 2022 3:08 AM

Apparently Jada shaved her hair after dealing with alopecia. It was hard for her and Will may have been reacting to that

by Anonymousreply 20March 28, 2022 3:08 AM

I wish Revolta would make a joke about being bald.

by Anonymousreply 21March 28, 2022 3:08 AM

He'll probably send JADA up there to accept R14.

He's a pissant fucking coward.

by Anonymousreply 22March 28, 2022 3:08 AM

Elordi looks like a movie star so he's on his way.

by Anonymousreply 23March 28, 2022 3:08 AM

Will will apologize to Chris during his speech?

by Anonymousreply 24March 28, 2022 3:08 AM

Maybe Sam and John shaved their heads backstage to support Jada.

by Anonymousreply 25March 28, 2022 3:09 AM

R20 If she was self conscious she could have worn a wig, like almost every other black woman there.

by Anonymousreply 26March 28, 2022 3:09 AM

Oh boo fucking hoo. There are people dying with nothing in Ukraine.

by Anonymousreply 27March 28, 2022 3:09 AM

Yes we heard r20. That still doesn't him the right to assault someone. That shit was unacceptable behavior and he should have been immediately escorted out.

by Anonymousreply 28March 28, 2022 3:09 AM

FB post by Michael Musto:

Apparently, Denzel pulled Will aside during a commercial break after the incident and spoke to him. The last time Denzel gave Will advice was when he told him not to kiss a man on screen, so I'm not optimistic.

by Anonymousreply 29March 28, 2022 3:09 AM

R24 Unlikely. And I don't get how twitter is celebrating this idiot right now.

by Anonymousreply 30March 28, 2022 3:09 AM

Remember when Travolta molested his masseuses?

by Anonymousreply 31March 28, 2022 3:09 AM

Please please please don't let Will Smith that jack ass win

by Anonymousreply 32March 28, 2022 3:09 AM

[quote] If the Oscars need to focus on a non white group, next year go Asian.

R6 is Mr. Go Asian.

by Anonymousreply 33March 28, 2022 3:09 AM

Reba just looked like the Joker.

by Anonymousreply 34March 28, 2022 3:10 AM

No to Will Smith. Just no.

by Anonymousreply 35March 28, 2022 3:10 AM

Kodi is so beautiful.

by Anonymousreply 36March 28, 2022 3:10 AM

Audience cheering enthusiastically for Will.

by Anonymousreply 37March 28, 2022 3:10 AM

Please don't let Denzel or Will win.

by Anonymousreply 38March 28, 2022 3:10 AM

Masseurs, not masseuses

by Anonymousreply 39March 28, 2022 3:10 AM

Fucking asshole won!

by Anonymousreply 40March 28, 2022 3:10 AM

How has he not been arrested? Wow. Why is he getting a standing o?

by Anonymousreply 41March 28, 2022 3:11 AM

Punching the shit out of comedians is rewarded.

Fuck Will Smith.

by Anonymousreply 42March 28, 2022 3:11 AM

[quote] Reba just looked like the Joker.

I did not like Heath Ledger in his role as "Joker".

by Anonymousreply 43March 28, 2022 3:11 AM

WTF Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo

by Anonymousreply 44March 28, 2022 3:11 AM

Will the Cunt.

by Anonymousreply 45March 28, 2022 3:11 AM

When the Academy asked Travolta to present, he thought it was something completely different.

by Anonymousreply 46March 28, 2022 3:11 AM

Will. you got some 'splainin' to do!

by Anonymousreply 47March 28, 2022 3:11 AM

Anyone care to guess how Fox news will spin this?

by Anonymousreply 48March 28, 2022 3:11 AM

What a memorable night for Will Smith!

by Anonymousreply 49March 28, 2022 3:11 AM

Hope he is never nominated again. Douchebag

by Anonymousreply 50March 28, 2022 3:11 AM

This is Hollywood. Despicable.

by Anonymousreply 51March 28, 2022 3:11 AM

Will Smith wins an Oscar? WTF?

by Anonymousreply 52March 28, 2022 3:11 AM

In a recent interview Will Smith he has never cheated on his wife. LIAR

by Anonymousreply 53March 28, 2022 3:11 AM

Will just won.

by Anonymousreply 54March 28, 2022 3:11 AM

omfg this is so awkward

by Anonymousreply 55March 28, 2022 3:11 AM

Why the fuck are some people standing up to applaud that jackass? I hope LAPD is waiting to arrest that jackass and we get pictures or video of him being shoved into a police cruiser.

by Anonymousreply 56March 28, 2022 3:11 AM

I know a lot of people don't like Denzel but he never disappoints.

by Anonymousreply 57March 28, 2022 3:11 AM

Oh hell no.

by Anonymousreply 58March 28, 2022 3:11 AM

GOD made him punch Chris Rock.

Weak fuck.

by Anonymousreply 59March 28, 2022 3:11 AM

That jackass not half the people watching are not happy for him. Now he is playing up "fierce defender of his family". Fuck you Will.

by Anonymousreply 60March 28, 2022 3:11 AM

Here's the mea culpa.

by Anonymousreply 61March 28, 2022 3:12 AM

He’s going to paint himself as a noble defender of his family.

by Anonymousreply 62March 28, 2022 3:12 AM

Oh no... God references? He's a kook

by Anonymousreply 63March 28, 2022 3:12 AM

LOL @ Will Smith knowing he fucked up.

Now he is talking about "protection"?

Who protected Chris Rock from ASSAULT???

by Anonymousreply 64March 28, 2022 3:12 AM

I am appalled that this violent criminal is getting a standing ovation from anyone. He’s also a shitty actor who basically bought this award.

by Anonymousreply 65March 28, 2022 3:12 AM

Protecting his family. I guess that was real.

by Anonymousreply 66March 28, 2022 3:12 AM

This speech makes me hate him so much its painful.

Fuck him.

by Anonymousreply 67March 28, 2022 3:12 AM

What a fucking asshole.

by Anonymousreply 68March 28, 2022 3:12 AM

Will is trying to make himself into the good guy protector. Oh shut up fool.

by Anonymousreply 69March 28, 2022 3:12 AM

Everyone has warned us that Will’s an asshole from Fresh Prince onward.

by Anonymousreply 70March 28, 2022 3:12 AM

Self-righteous prick.

by Anonymousreply 71March 28, 2022 3:12 AM

Douche bag.

by Anonymousreply 72March 28, 2022 3:12 AM

Well, Will is getting much love from his peers, so I guess Chris Rock will pay for tonight.

by Anonymousreply 73March 28, 2022 3:12 AM

Protecting his family from what?? A joke?

by Anonymousreply 74March 28, 2022 3:12 AM

R62 Twitter is eating this shit up though. So embarrassing.

by Anonymousreply 75March 28, 2022 3:12 AM

Fuck this bullshit. He wasn't justified in punching Chris Rock.

by Anonymousreply 76March 28, 2022 3:13 AM

Nah, we're not buyin' this bullshit, Will.

by Anonymousreply 77March 28, 2022 3:13 AM

"A river to my people" well he watched Lawrence of Arabia this week.

What. An. Asshole.

by Anonymousreply 78March 28, 2022 3:13 AM

ummmm

by Anonymousreply 79March 28, 2022 3:13 AM

"my people" means no WHITES

by Anonymousreply 80March 28, 2022 3:13 AM

What the hell is Will talking about?

by Anonymousreply 81March 28, 2022 3:13 AM

Hope he is never nominated again. Douchebag

by Anonymousreply 82March 28, 2022 3:13 AM

I hope he gets punched in the face by random strangers for the rest of his life.

by Anonymousreply 83March 28, 2022 3:13 AM

Will Smith having a meltdown on stage.

We love to see it.

by Anonymousreply 84March 28, 2022 3:13 AM

This "Protect" shit ain't it.

by Anonymousreply 85March 28, 2022 3:13 AM

Jessica will be a worthy winner. And I like her dress and ponytail.

by Anonymousreply 86March 28, 2022 3:13 AM

Chris Rock is the devil now. Okay.

by Anonymousreply 87March 28, 2022 3:13 AM

Shut the fuck up, Will.

by Anonymousreply 88March 28, 2022 3:13 AM

So these assholes are applauding a guy who just assaulted someone? Fuuuck.

by Anonymousreply 89March 28, 2022 3:13 AM

I hope Chris Rock is in a safe place right now

by Anonymousreply 90March 28, 2022 3:13 AM

So awkward.

by Anonymousreply 91March 28, 2022 3:13 AM

Once an asshole, always an asshole.

by Anonymousreply 92March 28, 2022 3:13 AM

What in the serious FUCK is he babbling on about

by Anonymousreply 93March 28, 2022 3:13 AM

Play the Fucking music already.

by Anonymousreply 94March 28, 2022 3:13 AM

He’s being “called on” to “love” and “protect” people by beating someone on national TV. The Academy deserves this embarrassment for giving this undeserved award out.

Also, Richard Williams is a fucking sexist lunatic.

by Anonymousreply 95March 28, 2022 3:13 AM

I'm so fucking sick of these people.

by Anonymousreply 96March 28, 2022 3:13 AM

Please, Chris, go up & punch out Will.

by Anonymousreply 97March 28, 2022 3:13 AM

Richard Williams is shown outsmarting others, not outpunching them.

by Anonymousreply 98March 28, 2022 3:13 AM

Self masturbatory

by Anonymousreply 99March 28, 2022 3:14 AM

"river to my people"

Bitch stole my line!

by Anonymousreply 100March 28, 2022 3:14 AM

Please cancel him after this.

by Anonymousreply 101March 28, 2022 3:14 AM

A vessel of love.

He should have done PR for Harvey.

by Anonymousreply 102March 28, 2022 3:14 AM

HER TITTY FELL OUT!

by Anonymousreply 103March 28, 2022 3:14 AM

[quote]Protecting his family from what?? A joke?

He acts like he just saved the world. What a smug asshole.

by Anonymousreply 104March 28, 2022 3:14 AM

"river to my people"

Bitch stole my line!

by Anonymousreply 105March 28, 2022 3:14 AM

One of the Williams sister's nipples is showing. The one in white.

by Anonymousreply 106March 28, 2022 3:14 AM

Is Jada there

by Anonymousreply 107March 28, 2022 3:14 AM

He's an ambassador. Emotionally labile as a four year old. Good luck getting insurance from here on out.

by Anonymousreply 108March 28, 2022 3:14 AM

Oh, fuck you, you self-important asshole.

He needs to be met by LAPD backstage and locked up.

by Anonymousreply 109March 28, 2022 3:14 AM

People standing up and cheering on someone who assaulted someone else for a joke.

Yep, this is going to turn into a triumph for Smith. Don't be shocked if Rock is going to blackballed after this.

by Anonymousreply 110March 28, 2022 3:14 AM

Cry you fucking baby.

by Anonymousreply 111March 28, 2022 3:14 AM

Why did they put the Oscars logo on for a few seconds?

by Anonymousreply 112March 28, 2022 3:14 AM

holy shit this is insane

by Anonymousreply 113March 28, 2022 3:14 AM

He didn't apologize to Chris Rock. Douche

by Anonymousreply 114March 28, 2022 3:14 AM

OMG, TEARS!!

Puh-leeze.

by Anonymousreply 115March 28, 2022 3:14 AM

It’s a fucking shitty movie award, it’s not the Nobel Prize

by Anonymousreply 116March 28, 2022 3:15 AM

[quote] Guess all those rumors about WIll having a violent temper are true. That was career suicide.

I thought tonight's behaviour was inexcusable but I though the same thing about Kanye barging up on stage and demanding the award be taken from that Taylor Swift.

by Anonymousreply 117March 28, 2022 3:15 AM

I hope he gets played off.

by Anonymousreply 118March 28, 2022 3:15 AM

The WORST. Just the worst. A catastrophe.

by Anonymousreply 119March 28, 2022 3:15 AM

I just realized Uma Thurman just presented an award to the guy who (allegedly) punched out her then-husband 20 years ago.

by Anonymousreply 120March 28, 2022 3:15 AM

Get the hook!

by Anonymousreply 121March 28, 2022 3:15 AM

I’m living for it!

You guys are party poopers.

The Oscars producers are busting their loads right now all over the monitors.

They love this.

by Anonymousreply 122March 28, 2022 3:15 AM

Oh, brother. Will, love isn't about hitting other people.

by Anonymousreply 123March 28, 2022 3:15 AM

Will and Jada are both mental cases.

by Anonymousreply 124March 28, 2022 3:15 AM

Lmao. He has played himself and I love it..

by Anonymousreply 125March 28, 2022 3:15 AM

It's not about wining an award + it's ALL about winning an award.

by Anonymousreply 126March 28, 2022 3:15 AM

Did he win for Ali?

by Anonymousreply 127March 28, 2022 3:15 AM

He’s an actor in a fucking movie. A movie that will be forgotten in 3..2..1..

Stop pretending you’re saving the world

by Anonymousreply 128March 28, 2022 3:15 AM

Where is the Chris Rock apology? He should be in handcuffs.

by Anonymousreply 129March 28, 2022 3:15 AM

What the fuck is this fool going on about? “Protecting” everyone and sniveling and rambling on??

by Anonymousreply 130March 28, 2022 3:15 AM

I hope Chris Rock isn't eating this bullshit he's spewing. I'm not a huge a Chris Rock fan, but I'm TEAM CHRIS ROCK tonight. Press charges on that fucker.

by Anonymousreply 131March 28, 2022 3:15 AM

Could someone play off the Crybaby Violent Asshole?

by Anonymousreply 132March 28, 2022 3:15 AM

PLAY HIM OFF

by Anonymousreply 133March 28, 2022 3:15 AM

Honestly, he'd be insufferable even if he didn't just physically assault someone.

by Anonymousreply 134March 28, 2022 3:15 AM

The first thing he should have said " I'm sorry. And I don't deserve this award. What is more important than the award is being a great human being first". He cast a pall on the event, his career and the memory of Venus and Serena's father. Fuck him. He should give the award back. I'll never look at him the same. Shame!

Love makes you do crazy things. BULLSHIT!!!!

by Anonymousreply 135March 28, 2022 3:15 AM

I will never ever see anything he's in.

by Anonymousreply 136March 28, 2022 3:15 AM

Serena's bob looks very nice.

Fuck Will Smith.

Stop trying to weaponize knitting, we're over that shit

by Anonymousreply 137March 28, 2022 3:15 AM

This is so bad and awkward.

by Anonymousreply 138March 28, 2022 3:15 AM

Has he apologized to Chris??

by Anonymousreply 139March 28, 2022 3:15 AM

Thank you Hollywood for giving us more material to use against the Left to Middle America!

by Anonymousreply 140March 28, 2022 3:15 AM

Over/under on the divorce announcement?

by Anonymousreply 141March 28, 2022 3:15 AM

Loser.

by Anonymousreply 142March 28, 2022 3:15 AM

As usual, no consequences for thuggish behavior..

by Anonymousreply 143March 28, 2022 3:15 AM

#OscarsTooWill

by Anonymousreply 144March 28, 2022 3:16 AM

[Quote] Why did they put the Oscars logo on for a few seconds?

They thought he was going to punch someone else

by Anonymousreply 145March 28, 2022 3:16 AM

Why is he spending so much time defending Demi Moore, I don’t think she was offended?

by Anonymousreply 146March 28, 2022 3:16 AM

No way will they start the music to play Will off for talking too long.

by Anonymousreply 147March 28, 2022 3:16 AM

This is a breakdown

by Anonymousreply 148March 28, 2022 3:16 AM

I never hated Will Fucking Smith before.

That has changed.

by Anonymousreply 149March 28, 2022 3:16 AM

His jokes about assault are not landing.

Asshole's asshole.

by Anonymousreply 150March 28, 2022 3:16 AM

Play him off the stage, this is just pure ego at this point

by Anonymousreply 151March 28, 2022 3:16 AM

Why is he still talking, isn't there a time limit to these speeches? Annoying.

by Anonymousreply 152March 28, 2022 3:16 AM

"+" = "="

I meant equals

by Anonymousreply 153March 28, 2022 3:16 AM

OK. Now I think that shit was staged after this "protect my family" speech.

by Anonymousreply 154March 28, 2022 3:16 AM

Good move by his mother to stay in Philly with her knitting club.

by Anonymousreply 155March 28, 2022 3:16 AM

How fucking insulting is it that in the last decade people like Isabelle Huppert and Willem Dafoe lost Oscars and this self important closet case talent-free cunt wins? Denzel Washington is an ACTUAL actor, and he has to listen and pretend like this is well earned. Nadir for the Oscars.

by Anonymousreply 156March 28, 2022 3:16 AM

“I’m taking up too much time.”

That’s the only part of his silly speech that made sense

by Anonymousreply 157March 28, 2022 3:16 AM

Serena had a baby in case you didn't know.

by Anonymousreply 158March 28, 2022 3:16 AM

Enough.

by Anonymousreply 159March 28, 2022 3:16 AM

Has any other actor ever won the Oscar and damaged his career in the same night?

The apology should have been to Chris Rock not the Academy and nominees.

by Anonymousreply 160March 28, 2022 3:16 AM

[quote]Campion did good.

Oh, dear.

by Anonymousreply 161March 28, 2022 3:16 AM

Hollywood shot itself in the foot with all this virtue signaling. Expect more box office bombs and thug behavior at award shows no one watches because they’re sick of the elitist political bullshit.

by Anonymousreply 162March 28, 2022 3:17 AM

And WHY are they allowing him to ramble endlessly??

by Anonymousreply 163March 28, 2022 3:17 AM

R156 This. The Oscars are a joke by now.

by Anonymousreply 164March 28, 2022 3:17 AM

he was afraid everyone saw him spit but he's okay with hitting someone

by Anonymousreply 165March 28, 2022 3:17 AM

He won solely because he and Jada started #OscarsSoWhite.

The Oscars are desperate to show they’re not racist

by Anonymousreply 166March 28, 2022 3:17 AM

#TeamRock

by Anonymousreply 167March 28, 2022 3:17 AM

I'll say this again: Kodi is beautiful.

by Anonymousreply 168March 28, 2022 3:17 AM

Sorry but his behavior was completely ghetto. There is no excuse for walking up and hitting someone. The only reason is that he is a closet case, and probably on drugs.

by Anonymousreply 169March 28, 2022 3:17 AM

So, Will Smith’s mother is so afraid of her son’s violence she stayed back in Philadelphia?

by Anonymousreply 171March 28, 2022 3:17 AM

This is the craziest shit in Oscar's history. I can't believe it.

by Anonymousreply 172March 28, 2022 3:17 AM

R121 I'm old enough to know what you mean.

by Anonymousreply 173March 28, 2022 3:18 AM

Anthony Hopkins must be presenting best picture.

by Anonymousreply 174March 28, 2022 3:18 AM

[quote] Serena had a baby in case you didn't know.

And since she wasn't actually breastfeeding it at the time, what's your point?

by Anonymousreply 177March 28, 2022 3:18 AM

Will Smith is a complete embarrassment. God his speech was fucking awful.

by Anonymousreply 178March 28, 2022 3:18 AM

Did Serena’s titty fall out? Is that why they put up the Oscars logo when they cut to them? She almost had it fall out on the red carpet earlier tonight.

by Anonymousreply 179March 28, 2022 3:18 AM

R163...They wouldn't dare cut him off...lol

by Anonymousreply 180March 28, 2022 3:18 AM

It's sickening how everyone is siding with Will.

Richard Marx asking a very simple (and sensible) question.

by Anonymousreply 181March 28, 2022 3:19 AM

Nobody will dare call him out because they will be called Racist.

by Anonymousreply 182March 28, 2022 3:19 AM

Tomorrow, the press is going to turn this thing into a Will love-fest, going on about how he was so emotionally inspiring, etc. Just watch.

by Anonymousreply 183March 28, 2022 3:19 AM

[quote] "Please please please don't let Will Smith that jack ass win"

This would be the cherry on top, R32. Unfortunately, I think he will win. And worse, if he's absent at the time his name is called, collecting it will fall on the shoulders of his entitled wife. After all, she dressed the part of the winner.

by Anonymousreply 184March 28, 2022 3:19 AM

Denzel wants to be Oscar-adjacent.

by Anonymousreply 185March 28, 2022 3:19 AM

When we have a comic leading war torn Ukraine,

I know that comics tell truth to power, even Black power.

Will Smith is an emasculated cunt.

by Anonymousreply 186March 28, 2022 3:19 AM

How many crazy black men are there in Hollywood? OJ decapitated his wife. Kanye? Smith? Spike Lee has always been on the brink. Same goes for Cuba Gooding.

by Anonymousreply 187March 28, 2022 3:19 AM

This is better than the Norman Maine incident of 1955!

Boo fucking hoo! Will Smith is a fucking asshole!!!

I can't believe I'm saying this but this show needed more Amy Schumer

by Anonymousreply 194March 28, 2022 3:20 AM

He did the classic high school girl bully crying for pity and those cunts bought it? What a fucking travesty.

He’s laughing as he leaves the stage - even he can’t believe the gullible fuckers.

Must be a Scieno as was speculated about for years.

by Anonymousreply 195March 28, 2022 3:20 AM

I’m so glad I didn’t skip the Oscars tonight. Best entertainment in years! The drama isn’t over….

by Anonymousreply 197March 28, 2022 3:20 AM

Is there anyone who still believes this was fake?

by Anonymousreply 198March 28, 2022 3:20 AM

Even Samuel L. Jackson's honorary award was MILES more deserved than Will Smith's competitive Oscar.

And meanwhile . . . DUNE has picked up 7 Oscars and the film tagged as an official disaster on DL is the night's big winner.

And without Dubose, it's WSS that flopped.

Maybe Spielberg can try remaking Disney"s BAMBI next time.

This whole business is about money and at a time when so many people are suffering, they all seem like a bunch of sanctimonious hypocrites.

It looks to me like King Richard, in spite of the critical praise, has been a box office loser. Will Smith just guaranteed that no one except "his people" will be lining up to see any more of his movies.

r246, When Chris Rock hosted the Oscars, in his opening monologue, he observed how Jude Law was cast in so many movies. Throughout the telecast, Rock kept complaining/"joking" about how Jude Law was cast in every movie that year.

It was funny at first, because, it's true, Law did seem to be cast in every movie released that year, but, Rock ran the "joke" into the ground to the point when, of all people, Sean Penn called him out on it when he presented an award.

Smith is DEAD TO ME, and I've liked him more than not over the years!

He committed one of my unforgivable sins - not assault, but "punching down". He's an A-lister who just assaulted and humiliated a B-lister in public, someone who won't dare complain or press charges, because he can't afford to make A-list enemies or piss off the idiot twitter mobs. Smith has just engaged in a highly public abuse of power, and it's earned him a permanent place on my shit list.

This has been the creepiest Oscars in history.

Elmo's back! What is CODA, it must be more wokeshit based on the audience doing the hand flagging thing when they didn't do it all night. It's important to reduce the sensory overload on Oscar night! This one time!

What frauds.

I heard Liza was perfectly fine backstage until she bumped into Will Smith.....Now she is in a wheelchair....Just sayin'...

by Anonymousreply 370March 28, 2022 3:36 AM

R317 You mean, Sean Penn demonstrated his lack of a sense of humour. Unsurprising, but then again, even Sean Penn didn’t punch anyone live at Oscars.

The Coda screenwriter is a very pretty woman.

by Anonymousreply 372March 28, 2022 3:36 AM

What would make someone go up there and assault another person over a joke? Will was originally laughing about the joke. My guess is Jada didn’t appreciate Will laughing about it, so he went up there to make amends.

by Anonymousreply 406March 28, 2022 3:39 AM

by Anonymousreply 408March 28, 2022 3:39 AM

I remember when the Oscars was an event that everyone looked forward to. It was movie stars recognizing movie stars, all within a classy environment. There was glamour and taste. Now, it's minor celebrities with no ties to the movies, appearing because there is no more glamour in Hollywood. Instead, it is turning into a gaudy, tasteless celebration of the mediocre and political, ruined by the PC movement in the US. And, it will never come back.

by Anonymousreply 409March 28, 2022 3:39 AM

by Anonymousreply 413March 28, 2022 3:39 AM

Will Smith should have been immediately escorted out of the building after that assault and not been given the honor of an Oscar or been given the honor of making an acceptance speech. It's appalling.

by Anonymousreply 414March 28, 2022 3:39 AM

R397 These fraus are so hypocritical. If Amy Schumer made that joke and Will Smith hit her, they would talk so differently.

Get off the cross, Mary! Chris Rock is hardly "B-list," and his comedy has been confrontational & purposely offensive for literal decades. Will Smith was obviously upset for a number of reasons – possibly including some we don't know yet – and clearly in the wrong for getting so upset over a silly joke, which he knows full well. There is zero chance Rock would want to press charges, nor will it damage his career in the slightest (quite the opposite, actually).

Newsflash: not all Black celebrities keep tabs on everything going on with other Black celebrities. Not excusing the slap/punch, because it's not excusable, but it should be put in fair context if that's in fact why Will reacted so harshly. (I still think there's more to the story.)

Timmy's outfit was Louis Vuitton womenswear. I loved it, but not for this event. From CNN:

Bare-chested beneath his black blazer, the actor had fans swooning online. "Timothée Chalamet is basically a rockstar right?" wrote one Twitter user, with another joking: "I'd like to thank whoever made this outfit, Timothée Chalamet's parents, and God." Standout looks from the Oscars 2022 red carpet

The 26-year-old star -- who featured in two movies nominated in this year's Best Picture category, "Dune" and "Don't Look Up" -- is known for his daring red carpet fashion. Recent award ceremonies have seen him named on "best dressed" lists thanks to his use of bright colors, sharp tailoring and elevated streetwear.

He also regularly looks to Louis Vuitton for the biggest occasions, not least the 2019 Golden Globes, where he wore a sparkling harness that went viral and sparked a menswear trend in the process.

Though the Academy Awards are known for comparatively restrained fashion, Chalamet has previously used Hollywood's biggest night to make statements -- like the all-white Berluti suit he wore to 2018's ceremony. Two years later, his hybrid blue Prada tracksuit-suit became one of the night's most talked about menswear looks after it drew online comparisons to various uniformed workers, from a paramedic to a parking valet.

The actor was one of several male stars to take an adventurous approach on this year's red carpet. Daniel Kaluuya and "The Power of the Dog" star Kodi Smit-McPhee were among those to eschew conventional black-tie with brightly colored suits.

But not everyone was impressed with Chalamet's outfit, which was designed by Louis Vuitton creative director Nicolas Ghesquière, with one commenter writing: "Someone throw a blanket on Timothee Chalamet and call his mother."

If I were the producer of this Oscars telecast, I'd drive directly to the Hollywood sign and jump off.

What a historic shitshow.

Ok. Chris Rock has made fun of Jada numerous times over the years. This isn’t the first time they’ve had issues because Rock always makes fun of her.

by Anonymousreply 505March 28, 2022 3:59 AM

A positive is this is viral and young people are saying this was the most fun Oscars ever. I think the ratings may be up this year.

by Anonymousreply 506March 28, 2022 4:01 AM

The irony is that next Sunday is the Grammy Awards, which, ironically, will probably be much classier than the Oscars.

by Anonymousreply 507March 28, 2022 4:01 AM

[quote]I think it's doubtful if Chris Rock was even aware that she had hair loss and probably thought it's just a fashion choice for her.

I thought it was a fashion choice because it looks good on her. I assume Rock will plead ignorance, the Smiths will make a big show of forgiving him, and they’ll all move on while hating each other’s guts when no cameras are in sight.

Using love as an excuse for violence should be called out by everyone. That’s the talk of an abuser

[quote]DL fav Kathy Griffin says: Let me tell you something, it’s a very bad practice to walk up on stage and physically assault a Comedian. Now we all have to worry about who wants to be the next Will Smith in comedy clubs and theaters.

Ridiculous on Kathy's part. The old Kathy would have got an entire special dedicated to examining this like it was the Zapruder film.

by Anonymousreply 517March 28, 2022 4:05 AM

Apologies, I haven’t read all 2,000+ posts so may be repeating someone.

I’m tired of the Oscar’s “spread the love around” approach. Different winner for Best Picutre, Director, Screenplay, actors from 4 different movies. I want a film that sweeps all the categories, because 1) I like that, and 2) it would probably be a sign that it was a movie people actually watched! The last time I can recall that happening was Silence of the Lambs, which was a blockbuster.

We need more of those.

Producers should have invited Ezra Miller to this year's ceremony. Perhaps he could have taken out Smith all the while dressed so outrageous and fabulous as to put lil Timothee to shame.

Or better yet, had Michael Richards in the audience with a hot mic, "He's a ......"

Smith should have been removed, they should have had an announcement that behavior like that isn’t tolerated, and then gone one with the show. Instead, nothing happens and Smith gets to cry during his acceptance. And people stood up for him!

Look for Apple TV + to win Best Picture again next year with Scorsese’s Killers of the Flower Moon (it’s about Native Americans in 1920s Oklahoma). But don’t look for Will Smith to make it two in a row for his highly anticipated performance in the slave drama Emancipation.

The View should be interesting this morning. Joy will defend Chris Rock as a comedian who was assaulted onstage and Sunny Hostin will come up with some lame bullshit defense of Will Smith because she always plays the race card. And Whoopi will…who the fuck knows what she’ll do.

R569 Janet and Will reconciled recently and she gave a very supportive tweet when Will won the SAG award for best actor. She hasn't tweeted in weeks.

So far Rosie O'Donnell and Maria Shriver aren't defending Will. There's probably other celebs A-list, B-list, C-list, or whatever who are disgusted by the whole thing, but will keep quiet as usual with other douchebags/

Even to the point of having a Black actress come onstage to crack wise about being in "Whiteface," as though "Blackface" were still a thing rather than a deplorable part of cinematic history.

[quote]It's never a good sign when a famous person you haven't seen at the oscars in a long time is dragged out in a wheelchair.

You ain't kidding. Back in 1976, Mary Pickford was wheeled out (in a live remote segment from Pickfair) to accept an honorary Oscar for her contributions to cinema. Wearing a wig that was slightly askew, she seemed to have no notion of where she was or what was going on. When they handed her the Oscar, as she sat in her wheelchair, she seemed vaguely aware that she had been given something. "I shall treasure it always," she said, I think. She seemed even more out of it than Liza did at tonight's Oscars.
