Stunningly beautiful

and brave.

by Anonymousreply 1March 28, 2022 12:42 AM

What on earth is "queer" supposed to mean this week?

by Anonymousreply 2March 28, 2022 12:43 AM

Wake me when it's a man

by Anonymousreply 3March 28, 2022 12:44 AM

She is stunning

by Anonymousreply 4March 28, 2022 12:44 AM

In other words, she is a cunt. She also didn’t deserve that Oscar, but she fits the bill for triple-oppressed, so she gets it.

by Anonymousreply 5March 28, 2022 12:45 AM

What will be her follow up role? Maybe, a lesbian version of "A Marriage Story" with Kate McKinnon.

by Anonymousreply 6March 28, 2022 12:45 AM

Quite big tits.

by Anonymousreply 7March 28, 2022 12:46 AM

R5, the only cunt is you. In case, you haven't noticed there aren't a ton of out people winning acting Oscars, they prefer to award "brave" straight men who play gay characters

by Anonymousreply 8March 28, 2022 12:47 AM

Doesn't queer just mean that you find other same sex people attractive? It doesn't mean you want to have sex with them.

by Anonymousreply 9March 28, 2022 12:47 AM

Oh, look, a white man is winning an Oscar right now, but r5 insists that people only win because they're oppressed. Huh, weird.

by Anonymousreply 10March 28, 2022 12:48 AM

R9, she's in a relationship with a woman

by Anonymousreply 11March 28, 2022 12:48 AM

R8 in the best supporting actress category?

by Anonymousreply 12March 28, 2022 12:48 AM

She’s from Wilmington

by Anonymousreply 13March 28, 2022 12:50 AM

She still stunk.

by Anonymousreply 14March 28, 2022 12:51 AM

Isn’t she the first openly queer person to win an acting Oscar period! Kevin Spacey and Jodie Foster were closeted when they won theirs.

by Anonymousreply 15March 28, 2022 12:52 AM

R14 prefers all the "brave" straight men who play gay characters

by Anonymousreply 16March 28, 2022 12:53 AM

R16, she doesn't deserve an Oscar simply because she's "queer." And my saying her performance stunk has zero to do with her sexuality.

by Anonymousreply 17March 28, 2022 12:54 AM

I loved her in WSS. The movie is meh

by Anonymousreply 18March 28, 2022 12:56 AM

R16 you keep deflecting by pointing out that straight white men are winning Oscars. That's not the point. She did not give a better performance than anyone in her category—Dunst, Ellis, and Buckley all gave better performances by a mile—but she campaigned for it hard, and her being a "queer" POC definitely helped.

by Anonymousreply 19March 28, 2022 12:56 AM

She’s delightful. Haters fuck off!! There are people more worthy of hatred than Ariana.

Hate Timmy and Kirsten and other overhyped talentless whites.

by Anonymousreply 20March 28, 2022 12:57 AM

Kirsten Dunst, "talentless"? Please.

by Anonymousreply 21March 28, 2022 12:58 AM

Oops.

R21, I meant Stewart not Dunst. I don’t think Dunst is that great either though. Though I just realized Stewart’s name is Kristen not Kirsten.

by Anonymousreply 23March 28, 2022 1:00 AM

R19, that's your opinion. Acting talent is subjective. Saying she won because she's queer is stupid, since ZERO out people have won Oscars besides her. There is no rush to award people just because they're queer. You're just trying to take this away from her because you're a bigot

by Anonymousreply 24March 28, 2022 1:02 AM

DL will slobber over "straight" men like Andrew Garfield or whoever but heaven forbid they actually support someone who is out

by Anonymousreply 25March 28, 2022 1:03 AM

Again, gay people don't deserve a pass simply for being gay.

by Anonymousreply 26March 28, 2022 1:04 AM

R26, I don’t think anyone on this site think s they do. They’re always harder on openly gay people than the straight women they worship and the straight men they think are hot.

by Anonymousreply 27March 28, 2022 1:05 AM

No, but you are triggering our misogynist detector, if not also the racist detector

by Anonymousreply 28March 28, 2022 1:05 AM

R22, on what planet was Hattie McDaniel openly LGBTQ?

by Anonymousreply 29March 28, 2022 1:06 AM

Then you're a dumb fucking asshole.

by Anonymousreply 30March 28, 2022 1:06 AM

Anyone who doesn't think this was a token win for identity politics is deluding themselves, especially considering the Academy's history. The media is already blasting the fact that she's made Oscar history on the basis of her being both a POC and "queer". Neither of these things have anything to do with her actual performance in the film—they are also both things that are not in her control, so framing it as an achievement is absurd.

by Anonymousreply 31March 28, 2022 1:07 AM

I didn't like Speilberg's WSS, it was a waste of time but Ariana is immensely talented and did a great job. I think it's easy to discount performances when you don't like the piece itself.

by Anonymousreply 32March 28, 2022 1:07 AM

That a Blatina Queen 👑 right there!

by Anonymousreply 33March 28, 2022 1:08 AM

What the knee-jerk idiots on here are conveniently ignoring is that saying DeBose did not deserve her Oscar has ZERO to do with her sexuality or her race. It has to do with her less than good performance.

by Anonymousreply 34March 28, 2022 1:08 AM

Her performance was good but not great. There is a difference. But many good not great performances have won Oscars.

by Anonymousreply 35March 28, 2022 1:10 AM

I loved her performance

by Anonymousreply 36March 28, 2022 1:13 AM

Why are we pretending that the person who MOST deserves to win or even gets nominated is the won who usually wins?

Judi Dench won in the very same category for appearing for about 5 minutes in Shakespeare In Love.

by Anonymousreply 37March 28, 2022 1:17 AM

I thought DeBose's performance was wrong because she was giving a theater performance in a film and everyone else was giving a film performance. So every time she came onscreen she was playing to the back row and it was jarring and wrong. Blame Spielberg for not toning her down, but she was not good.

by Anonymousreply 38March 28, 2022 1:18 AM

No it's not always who deserves it. Its who fits whatever narrative is being sold or favored that particular year. The majority of actors that win Oscars should be thankful the narrative went there way.

by Anonymousreply 39March 28, 2022 1:20 AM

Who or what is she dating?

by Anonymousreply 40March 28, 2022 1:32 AM

She is a lesbian and her last partner was female.

by Anonymousreply 41March 28, 2022 1:35 AM

So proud of Ariana

by Anonymousreply 42March 28, 2022 1:35 AM

[quote] So proud of Ariana

Why, what did you have to do with it?

by Anonymousreply 43March 28, 2022 1:36 AM

But is she queer-queer?
