Lmaoooo. What exactly is she working on? Lame.
Thora Birch declined ‘Hocus Pocus 2’ due to scheduling conflicts

She's working on "Wednesday," an Addams Family spin-off.
by Anonymous | reply 1 | March 16, 2022 7:29 AM |
She looked so unhappy in the 90s con pics. Is something going on?
by Anonymous | reply 2 | March 16, 2022 7:30 AM |
No one cares Ed.win the Brooklyn Seacow.
by Anonymous | reply 3 | March 16, 2022 7:30 AM |
She's never looked particularly happy, but there it looks like she'd rather be having a pap smear than posing with that fan.
by Anonymous | reply 5 | March 16, 2022 7:43 AM |
Didn’t she arrange to have Kevin Spacey killed in American Beauty?
by Anonymous | reply 6 | March 16, 2022 7:48 AM |
r5 It's the stereotypical child actor transition into an utter cunt. They head to NYC, attempt to live like the normies do but inevitably fall in with the trust fund babies and assimilate into the greater class divisions present in NYC. So now she's a "thespian" with a freakishly large forehead rather than a run of the mill starlet and is too high class to be seen with the plebians.
by Anonymous | reply 7 | March 16, 2022 7:54 AM |
Maybe she doesn’t want to work on a stupid money grab.
by Anonymous | reply 8 | March 16, 2022 9:02 AM |
Where are you getting all that, R7?
I think being the child of two porn stars (one of whom ruined her career by being domineering and creepy on every set she was on) probably had more to do with her current seeming misery.
by Anonymous | reply 9 | March 16, 2022 9:02 AM |
The rest of her body is working on being as sloppy looking and her lips, OP. Or as sloppy as Joey King.
by Anonymous | reply 10 | March 16, 2022 9:09 AM |
as her lips. ugh
by Anonymous | reply 11 | March 16, 2022 9:09 AM |
Her character’s mother from Now and Then is probably not far off from her real mom.

Okay W&W for r15.
by Anonymous | reply 16 | March 16, 2022 10:16 AM |
I liked her. I thought she had some acting chops and coulda gone further, but perhaps she got tired of it all.
by Anonymous | reply 17 | March 16, 2022 10:20 AM |
She declined cause she stupid
by Anonymous | reply 18 | March 16, 2022 11:08 AM |
To me she doesn’t look well in r4’s photo. She looks underweight. It could just be the pic is not flattering though.
by Anonymous | reply 19 | March 16, 2022 11:14 AM |
She was at a convention this past weekend and people said something was wrong with her. She looked terrible, was crying, left her table.
by Anonymous | reply 20 | March 16, 2022 12:33 PM |
I've always liked her.
by Anonymous | reply 22 | March 16, 2022 1:05 PM |
R20, 😱
by Anonymous | reply 23 | March 16, 2022 1:10 PM |
I’ve always liked her. It’s a shame that she allowed her father to ruin her reputation and career in Hollywood. She was advised to fire him but refused, leading to no one wanting to work with her anymore.
by Anonymous | reply 24 | March 16, 2022 1:19 PM |
I could play her part if it hasn’t been casted yet.
by Anonymous | reply 25 | March 16, 2022 1:25 PM |
While her dad was awful and his behavior hurt her career, she was difficult too. She got fired from the movie Election for arguing with the director about the script.
She didn't come off very well in that interview she did with The Guardian back in 2014, where they talked to her about her career drying up. She basically admitted she herself was difficult too.
by Anonymous | reply 26 | March 16, 2022 3:29 PM |
Team Thora here. She once said that she's similar to her Enid character from "Ghost World," so I bet her own anti-commercial, unconventional, slightly nihilistic tendencies have sometimes sabotaged her career. I think that she's a talented actress who gets in her own way (or her father or someone else gets in way). I hope that she has a big comeback in the next few years, in a well-respected indie film (like Simon Rex in "Rocket Red"--or maybe that’s an unfortunate comparison, given how her parents met) or streaming series.
by Anonymous | reply 27 | March 16, 2022 3:45 PM |
She's talented. Definitely one of the better child actresses. As for turning down hocus pocus, maybe she had her reasons. Birch may have been difficult but who knows what b.s. she was expected to put up with behind the scenes. Sometimes difficult is code for " I won't passively be steamrolled".
by Anonymous | reply 28 | March 16, 2022 3:49 PM |
I was able to find one picture from another day of the convention where she was smiling. The person must've said "think about the garbage bags of money you'll be taking home with you when this over."
by Anonymous | reply 29 | March 16, 2022 3:56 PM |
She was one of the more interesting and better child actresses of the 90s. Her father managed her career and he was a monster. She learned that from him.
by Anonymous | reply 30 | March 16, 2022 4:06 PM |
"What exactly is she working on?"
OP didn't read past the first paragraph in their own link, or are feigning ignorance:
[quote]but her obligations to Netflix's Addams Family-inspired series Wednesday prevented her from joining the production schedule.
by Anonymous | reply 31 | March 16, 2022 4:45 PM |
Loved her in Ghost World
by Anonymous | reply 32 | March 16, 2022 4:48 PM |
I hope she's doing okay.

I grew up watching her—Hocus Pocus, Monkey Trouble, Now and Then, American Beauty, Ghost World—she did some great stuff and was always a solid actress. Shit got weird in the 2000s, and it seemed she'd fallen into the classic child actor crisis that occurs as they pass into adulthood. Unlike most, though, she had an Oscar already. Then she just sort of...disappeared. I remember reading that her dad/manager (always a bad idea) was too involved in the off-Broadway production of Dracula that she was set to star in, and ended up getting her canned from the project.
I remember she played a prostitute/killer in an indie flick called Winter of Frozen Dreams, which was based on a true story. At the time, it was being touted as marking a comeback for her, but the movie was shitty and got no attention. I was shocked to see her in a minor, thankless role in The Last Black Man in San Francisco in 2019.
I do agree with the comments about her always appearing unhappy. There is a definite darkness about her, which is probably (as others have noted) part of what made her so great at playing Enid in Ghost World. I have the Blu-ray from Criterion and she gives a great interview on there, though she seems depressed or dysthymic. I also noticed how much her voice has deepened, which is indicative of being a heavy smoker.
Christina Ricci went through a similar trajectory in her early 20s, but she's managed to push through and has always worked consistently in a variety of projects, including major productions. Thora, for whatever reason, has not.
by Anonymous | reply 34 | March 18, 2022 3:45 AM |
R34 here--just kidding about the Oscar. Why did I think she won/was nominated? Apparently she only got a BAFTA nomination. In any case...
by Anonymous | reply 35 | March 18, 2022 3:47 AM |
Thora was never as cute as Ricci, probably why Ricci kept getting projects despite being a weak actress
by Anonymous | reply 36 | March 18, 2022 3:50 AM |
Loved her in Ghost World
by Anonymous | reply 37 | March 18, 2022 3:54 AM |
My God, Thora looks like a 60-year-old woman in those convention pics.
It's amazing how careers can diverge.
by Anonymous | reply 38 | March 18, 2022 3:54 AM |
I don't think she is unattractive—I think she just needs (and has always needed) a stylist. Even back in the '90s/2000s, her fashion choices and makeup at public events was unflattering and sometimes just plain fucking weird. She still shows up to events looking like this:
by Anonymous | reply 39 | March 18, 2022 4:02 AM |
Hocus Pocus was always trash. She made the good choice here.
by Anonymous | reply 40 | March 18, 2022 4:10 AM |
Ummmm Ricci kept getting roles because she’s easy to work with and liked. As said above, her and her father were difficult. It was mostly her dad. She was even advised to fire him but she refused, leading no one wanting to work with her.
by Anonymous | reply 41 | March 18, 2022 4:38 AM |
Apparently Ricci was very difficult on the set of Cursed, R41. Skeet Ulrich said she was a bitch and drunk all the time and this was before they shot the movie three more times.
by Anonymous | reply 42 | March 18, 2022 3:38 PM |
She needs to do indie stuff. Though it's possible she just doesn't want to act anymore.
by Anonymous | reply 43 | March 18, 2022 3:40 PM |
R42 when did he say this? Link? I’ve never seen that and have only heard good things about her.
by Anonymous | reply 44 | March 18, 2022 3:43 PM |
Never mind Thora, what about Omri?
by Anonymous | reply 45 | March 18, 2022 3:51 PM |
There’s some video of him at a horror convention talking about it, R44. I wouldn’t be able to find it.
by Anonymous | reply 46 | March 18, 2022 4:52 PM |
R1 she quit that project abruptly due to “personal reasons”. Today, they just announced Christina Ricci was appearing in it now, so I’m guessing she either took over Thora’s role, or it was rewritten.

Would YOU want to look at SJP first thing in the morning?
by Anonymous | reply 48 | March 22, 2022 3:02 PM |
I was just gong to post that. He does her no favors.
