Most boring job?

What do you think is the most boring job you could do?

Being a scanner seems like a cool job.

Some days I just want to be a lift/elevator operator. But I don't want people farting in my face a dozen times a day.

Engineer is a broad category, what are we talking about here? Software? Civil? Mechanical? Electrical? Chemical? Train?

Funnily enough, my father, who was an engineer, would comment every so often that being a mailman would be a good job because you get to walk around outdoors all day.

by Anonymousreply 17February 13, 2022 5:50 AM

Blow.

I’m not an accountant, but I work with them. Accountancy hardly belongs in the same category as the others. The early stages of the career have their boring aspects, but they still aren’t as boring as most of the others. More experienced accountants are CFOs and partners in accounting firms, for example.

I’d like to be a copywriter. It seems like quite a creative job.

by Anonymousreply 20February 13, 2022 9:38 AM

I went for accountant as copywriting gives you a chance to read or learn something. Most of the other jobs at least involve human contact.

I think a Solicitor who works in the more dry aspects of law, such as deeds, writing standard contracts etc would be dull.

by Anonymousreply 21February 13, 2022 9:51 AM

Prostitution whore.

I did this one. It was excruciating. Depending on the show, it could be just a handful of people a day- and they don't like you staring at them while they peruse the art. Many hours of standing on hard surfaces, and you can't listen to music or look at your smartphone.

When I started getting shooting pains in my feet, legs and back I had to quit.

Assembly line worker. I did it while in college working in the Chevy plant over the summer (My dad was an autoworker and they would hire college kids for the summer). First-year I worked on the assembly line, God, it was mind-numbing. So much so when I went back my second year I took garbage duty.

Dental hygienist. Cleaning teeth over and over, having to make small talk, etc. I love mine, she’s a lovely lady, but I wouldn’t want her job to save my life.
