I met them all after a small gig on their very first tour. They were stinking drunk! And so much fun. Smashing bottles like the Blues Brothers. I asked for Mark's autograph — on my jockstrap. Not made up at all. Someone snuck me a video of them when they were making their first album. It was shot and edited by McG -- who was a nobody. The jockstrap thing was part of their schtick. They famously delivered their album to Atlantic Records all wearing jockstraps and football helmets. AND NOTHING ELSE. Also, they flaunted that same jockstrap look in McG's video-doc, which his hilarious. Mark knew exactly how handsome he was. And so did everyone else.

Say what you will about Mark McGrath but he was incredibly hot in the 90s. Unfortunately he hit the wall HARD by the end of the next decade.

My theory is that The Fug originally stared creepin' up because of the drugs & booze. Then he sealed his fate by trying to correct that with the worst plastic surgery money could buy. And all that did was catapult him into Mickey Rourke territory. Sad....
