For beautiful and contemporary, Belén López of Spain (Mar de Plástico, etc) comes to mind, because when it looks effortless it looks best. Also because she looks much better in moving than in still photography. She has a quality that takes your attention no matter how small a patch or screen she has or whether the focus is on her or not.

Dietrich was not stunningly beautiful not pretty. She was "striking". Underneath it all she was a pretty but kind of dumpy German girl. Kinda like her fan, Madonna.

"Prettiest" is Catherine Deneuve hands down. Totally symmetrical and lovely colouring.

But beauties are not necessarily pretty, and that applies to a lot of the women on OP's list. A famous beauty will generally have distinctive features that wouldn't be ideal on their own but which add to her loveliness by their uniqueness. Christie Brinkley was prettier than Audrey Hepburn when both were at their peak, but was she as beautiful?

I voted Bergman. She wasn't stunning in the way others were, but I love her soft, earthy appearance and demeanor.

I watched Umbrellas and Young Girls today, and there was nothing exceptional about younger Catherine D. She’s just an average blonde. As an older woman she is gorgeous.
