Has Rachel been fired yet?
by Anonymous | reply 1 | February 2, 2022 8:32 PM |
I like how Rachel Maddow is being giving millions not to appear on her show for the next two months, at least. Rachel Maddow is not appearing her show in order to pursue other opportunities, like the film of her book BAG MAN. BAG MAN is a book Rachel Maddow wrote about Spiro Agnew, who was Richard Nixon's Vice President, and was embroiled in corruption, which is the subject of Rachel's Maddow's book BAG MAN. The film version of BAG MAN, which is about Vice President Spiro Agnew, is a based on a book written by Rachel Maddow.

In the criminal world, we call that "double dipping."
That's when you collect income from one job, while collecting income from another job at the same time.
Greedy, greedy, greedy.

This one is not. Speaking of sports, Velshi just now:

[quote] ‘Morning Joe’ Hosts Berate ‘Willfully Stupid’ Fox News Coverage of Hillary Clinton Spying Claims
The hosts of “Morning Joe” had some strong words for Fox News and other conservative media outlets on Tuesday, calling some of their recent coverage “willfully stupid” and “deliberately lying.”
Their words came on the heels of Fox News’ reporting on a recent “conflict of interest” motion filing from John Durham, in which the network alleges that lawyers for Hillary Clinton’s campaign “infiltrated” computers servers at Trump Tower and the White House, in an effort to fabricate a link between the former president and Russia.
But, for the hosts of “Morning Joe,” the filing is absolute nonsense.
“It is so confounding and so hard to follow,” Joe Scarborough said. “This pleading, which is indecipherable unless you have an agenda and you want to shoot first and ask questions later, which is what they did legally. This is as confusing as the initial story. I remember when the initial story came out and I read through it and I was like, what? Everybody did. That’s why nobody paid attention to it the first time because it was so convoluted looking about DNS lookups.”
MSNBC journalist John Heilemann targeted Fox News’s coverage of this story directly, saying, “one of the things about this is there’s this willful or either incredibly stupid or willful misconstruing of what this is all about.”
But Scarborough took it one further. “Can I just say, willfully stupid? A lot of people being willfully stupid,” he added.
The hosts then argued that some of the Fox News hosts that have been covering the report are probably aware of its validity. “They know that they’re lying to their audience, that they’re liars, and they’re deliberately lying about that,” Scarborough said.

Why does this thread exist? EVERYONE knows Jake Sherman is a piece of shit!
To be honest, most of the men at MSNBC are pieces of shit.
The women at MSNBC are the stars -- well except that crusty old Republican Andrea Mitchell... that bitch needs to GO!
The decent men at MSNBC are: Ayman Mohyeldin, Garret Haake, Craig Melvin, Lawrence O'Donnell, Jonathan Capehart, Cal Perry, Kendis Gibson, Sam Brock, Richard Lui, and Morgan Chesky.
There may be a few other good ones lurking that I missed.
But many of the men at MSNBC are truly fucked up and intolerable to listen to.

R102 Right? If you want breaking news then just watch social media. They almost always get news before the networks.
by Anonymous | reply 103 | March 4, 2022 1:07 PM |
[quote] Right? If you want breaking news then just watch social media. They almost always get news before the networks.
That is because networks try to verify the news before the report it and if they can't verify it they will tell you so, social media doesn't.
by Anonymous | reply 104 | March 4, 2022 5:22 PM |
On the networks you have to wait for the shows. On Twitter, the network accounts announce as soon as verified.

That's a lie. How many times have you heard a reporter say something has not been "independently verified." They run with shit all the time. They are just slow at getting stuff. For 4 years they sat by their computers with a bag of popcorn watching Trump's twitter account. They have forgotten how to do real journalism.

Dude you are being paid a lot of money to be an on air correspondent, you need to always assume the camera is on you at all times if you are standing there with a microphone in your hands.
He's 42, so he is old enough to know better. I hope he gets himself together soon. He aint ready for prime time.

Katy Tour’s father is Zoey Tur, who transitioned about 10 years ago. Prior to that, Zoey was Bob Tur, the KNBC helicopter pilot famous for shooting the OJ Simpson/Bronco slow speed chase and the Reginald Denny beating during the LA riots. Zoey Tur said that Katy didn’t talk to her for years but they’ve now reconciled.

R144, it is her staff, it is her work product, she signs off on it. It is her opening segment. All of the segments on a the Reidout are hers. Stop being racist.
by Anonymous | reply 146 | March 25, 2022 12:01 AM |
R144 Believe it or not EVERYTHING on TV has some sort of script because they are limited by time. She is no different than any other TV talking head in that regard. Don't confuse that with a speech writer. Even the guests are told ahead of time what will be discussed and told how much time they have to make their points. As with the host, the points are theirs, but everything is reviewed and discussed ahead of time to stick to the allotted time.
However, although someone on the staff is responsible for coordinating EVERYTHING for time, she has a show with her name on it. So surely she either personally wrote it or someone else wrote a draft of the opening and she provided significant inputs. Those people work for HER show! I'm sure she also rehearsed it several times before the show. She had plenty of opportunities to edit this to eventually make the opening totally HER words and thoughts. Joy Reid has a degree from Harvard and has had many jobs as a journalist. I am pretty sure she can put together an opening. It is an opinion show. She is paid to express HER opinion. Stop trying to single her out to diminish her.

Rachel will be on fire for the next Academy Awards.

I hope no one slaps her in the face, R150!

"Craig Melvin fights back tears as he signs off in final MSNBC broadcast"
“So many of the stories I’ve covered here, and the people I’ve met on assignments, have moved me in a myriad of ways,” said the veteran reporter.
Veteran reporter and longtime MSNBC anchor Craig Melvin is leaving the cable channel. He made the tearful announcement Thursday during the last live broadcast on his late-morning show.
“This nearly decade-long stretch of hosting a cable news program has been a tremendous honor, and I’m so very thankful for the opportunity to really have had a front-row seat to so much history. Tumultuous campaigns, elections, natural disasters, far too many mass shootings and of course a global pandemic,” Melvin, 42, said on Craig Melvin Reports, Mediaite reports.
“So many of the stories I’ve covered here, and the people I’ve met on assignments, have moved me in myriad of ways. Some days sad, angry, confused, but always hopeful,” he continued, per The Hill.
“I’ve tried to cover the news fairly and steer clear of inserting my opinion or perspective. We’ve tried to traffic in facts and truth and let you make up your mind every day, and I’m very proud of that. We’ve gone out of our way to highlight, not merely the death, doom, or destruction. We tried to introduce you to ordinary people doing the extraordinary,” Melvin said.
The New York-based broadcaster, who hails from Columbia, South Carolina, attended Wofford College in the state. In October 2018, he started hosting Today’s 3rd Hour. Melvin’s contract with the company is reportedly up at the end of the year.
Last year, he unpacked fatherhood and his relationship with his father in his book: Pops: Learning to be a Son and a Father.
“My dad was such an enigma to me for most of my life and I couldn’t figure him out. I didn’t really know where I stood with him for a good portion of my life,” he previously told Yahoo. “I became a naturally inquisitive person. I became very curious about my dad and our family. I think that it helped develop an empathy that a good journalist has. I try desperately not to judge.”
The anchor became more emotional on his daytime cable show on Thursday as he thanked his family, and his MSNBC producers and colleagues.
“And thank you for letting me into your homes, your businesses, and your vehicles for an hour every day,” Melvin said while concluding his broadcast. “I appreciate you seeing the value in journalism, showcasing the plight of the least among us, simply asking questions and waiting for answers. We need it now perhaps more than we ever have. Thank you.”
Melvin will now refocus his efforts on Today and Dateline NBC. The network will use a rotating lineup of anchors going forward.

I wonder what the real story is with Craig Melvin leaving MSNBC? His contact with NBC is up at the end of the year - will he also be out at Today and Dateline?
by Anonymous | reply 158 | April 1, 2022 10:44 AM |
R158 Unless you are a conservative leaning White woman or a heterosexual White male, MSNBC is not interested in you.
Craig Melvin is "NOT Fired" in the same way Ann Curry and Tamron Hall weren't fired from the Today Show. OF COURSE all three were fired.
MSNBC has gotten a lot more conservative in recent years and is in danger of losing the small consistent viewers it has.
MSNBC's ratings have always been shitty in comparison to Faux News and they struggle to get that audience. This hard shift to conservative editorial is a huge mistake. Nobody wants a Fox News Lite!
The minority presence has diminished considerably. Jonathan Capehart is the only Black male presence over there and I am sure that is because he checks so many blocks for them with him being gay. But of course he is on the weekend along with Tiffany Cross and even Rev Al was banished to the weekend.
Joy remains (for now) their token Black person in prime time.
They fucked over all the other "minorities" too. Medhi Hasan and Zerlina Maxwell can only have shows on Peacock. Even little Richard Lui is barely visible. And what the hell happened to "gay" Thomas Roberts?
Yet Assholes like Fuck Todd and Morning Hoe have total job security for as long as they want it.
Once Rachel leaves they will be totally fucked.
I predict MSNBC is gonna drop even lower in the shitter in terms of ratings, very soon and they will be begging to get more liberal talent back to save their dying network.

They tried this approach before (during the Bush years) and it didn't work out for them at all.
Clearly, MSNBC hasn't learned any lessons from that fiasco.

[quote] Psaki leaving White House for MSNBC
WASHINGTON — After serving as White House press secretary for more than a year, Jen Psaki will leave the Biden administration for MSNBC, where she will serve as a host and on-air expert. The departure, first reported by Axios, is expected this spring.
Psaki has held near-daily briefings since the start of the Biden presidency, and has generally been praised for her transparency. She had initially said she would stay in her position for a year, but a number of overlapping crises — the coronavirus pandemic, the withdrawal from Afghanistan and, most recently, the war in Ukraine — appear to have extended her tenure.
The news outlet Puck had previously reported that Psaki was in talks with both CNN and MSNBC, and there was even speculation that she might replace MSNBC primetime star Rachel Maddow, who is stepping back from nightly hosting duties.
Psaki will join a cable news landscape crowded with alumni of high-level Washington politics. CBS recently hired former Trump White House chief of staff Mick Mulvaney, a decision for which it was criticized by some of the network’s own employees. And Symone Sanders, former top spokesperson to Vice President Kamala Harris, will start hosting her own program on MSNBC in May.
by Anonymous | reply 161 | April 1, 2022 9:26 PM |
I wonder if Jen will get Craig Melvin's spot, I don't see them giving a rookie the Maddow time slot and with small children I doubt she wants to be working evenings the same way Nicolle Wallace doesn't.
by Anonymous | reply 162 | April 1, 2022 10:19 PM |
I don't think Jen and Nicole will get along.
Just a hunch.
Two very strong personalities, in addition to philosophical and political differences.

Symone Sanders: failing upwards.
by Anonymous | reply 167 | April 2, 2022 2:07 PM |
R162, if they gave Jen Rachel's time slot, I'd think someone like Chris Hayes or Ali Velshi would be rightfully angry. Both men have paid their dues at MSNBC and deserve an upgrade.
However, I really was hoping that Keith Olbermann would have gotten it. I think he wanted it, but Rachel said NO! I know she's " The Mighty Rachel", but who is she to dictate who gets hired over there?
Maybe she's afraid that Keith would have gotten higher ratings than her. I actually like him a lot better.
by Anonymous | reply 168 | April 2, 2022 2:20 PM |
R168 If Ali Velshi or Chris Hayes gets Rachel's slot, I will just stop watching MSNBC altogether because I will know they have officially lost their minds!

Or you have ^^^
by Anonymous | reply 170 | April 2, 2022 4:11 PM |
Damn, Ali Velshi is really in for the long haul, isn't he? How long has he been over there now? Almost a month? I haven't seen Cal Perry this week, so maybe he took a break (he'd been over there a long time, too).
And the things I would do to Ali Arouzi. So fucking hot....
by Anonymous | reply 171 | April 2, 2022 8:32 PM |
Ali Arouzi is soo fucking hot!
Seems like he took over for alot of what Richard Engel was doing in the beginning. Plus Ali A. & Ali V. work 24/7 and Richard does not.
by Anonymous | reply 172 | April 2, 2022 11:09 PM |
R170 Nah, Chris Hayes is such a fucking annoying Bernie Bro and a douche bag. I don't understand how someone that ugly, unappealing and incel-like is even on tv. I love Rachel. She has an incredible take on everything. She does the work and gives a damn about what she says. Hayes is just another entitled guy who is most of the time spouting opinions he clearly doesn't even believe. He rides the latest wave and doesn't have an original thought in his head.
Ali Velshi is a Bernie Bro too, but slightly less annoying. He has some charisma and is a pretty good journalist but not right for an opinion show. I like him reporting straight news, but I don't really give a fuck about his opinion. He would be an awful replacement for the great Rachel Maddow.

Did Michael Schmidt break up Nicolle's marriage, was it already on the rocks, or did they start dating after the divorce? Michael has never married but someone mentioned he may have a child?
New rumor I'd like to officially start: There's a sex tape of Michael and Jake Sherman, and one of them is clearly into getting spanked.

That's what I was thinking.
But still, Ali Arouzi still isn't as hot as some here are claiming.
I find Keir Simmons to be the most attractive guy on MSNBC.

Ali is dirty hot, Keir is pretty boy hot.

I really think that Jonathan Lemire was a great choice for "Way Too Early."
He is a REAL journalist who has become a television personality, and it shows when he joins the conversation on Morning Joe.
Lemire definitely brings a lot to the table, in terms of political knowledge.
by Anonymous | reply 183 | April 5, 2022 11:48 AM |
I'm glad Lemire put an end to "So the question is...." which was so lame.

No way. Although both have nice accents, I don't find Keir or Ali particularly hot. And the hottest on MSNBC? There are way hotter guys!
Morgan Chesky
Ayman Mohyeldin
Garrett Haake
Craig Melvin
Richard Liu
Willie Geist
