2017 Toyota Camry LE - This Is My Car ( JEALOUS BITCHES?!)

My Camry LE is a lovely dark blue. I even had the car dealer but on door edge guards and body side moldings.

by Anonymousreply 143January 31, 2022 5:25 AM

Dad? What are you doing on DL??

by Anonymousreply 1January 30, 2022 5:00 AM

It may have been nice in 2017 but it is 2022. Don't tell me you bought it used. I mean used? Can you imagine?

by Anonymousreply 2January 30, 2022 5:15 AM

R2- I did buy the car used from a Toyota dealer in July 2019. I paid $17,000 with only 7,000 miles on it.

by Anonymousreply 3January 30, 2022 5:17 AM

We don't endorse that r3.

by Anonymousreply 4January 30, 2022 5:18 AM

I am Jealous of op. Brand new cars are for elitist bitches who don't know the value of the dollar. Just make sure that your dealer can get the dead smell out before you drive off of the lot.

I smell dead people. Haunted cars. They always tell you that an old lady drove it, but.....

I don't like sedans. I need to ride a big vehicle.

by Anonymousreply 7January 30, 2022 6:04 AM

My half-a-dyke mom still drives her beloved Jeep, even though it's almost as old as I am at this point. She frequently gets hit on by middle-aged lesbians in supermarket parking lots.

by Anonymousreply 8January 30, 2022 6:07 AM

I am jealous of your mom's ride, too. Jeeps are awesome, though hard on your ass.

by Anonymousreply 9January 30, 2022 6:16 AM

No.

by Anonymousreply 10January 30, 2022 6:17 AM

Jealous? Um, nope

by Anonymousreply 11January 30, 2022 6:20 AM

Perhaps our Isadora Duncan model would be preferable

Let's go. I"ll go grab my Isotoners, scarf and road goggles.

by Anonymousreply 15January 30, 2022 7:20 AM

@r14, "Surprised no one has posted it yet. "

Because only the most eldegays would remember Jerry VanDyke and Ann Southern in a one-season disaster about a 1928 Porter that talks

by Anonymousreply 16January 30, 2022 12:13 PM

Not at all OP- but its a good looking car.

I have a 2021 Audi Q5 and its the most BORING car I have ever owned. (I've had some pimp vehicles and this was my idea of being more frugal)

It's a snooze.

I'm gonna turn it in early and get a Macan or Cayenne.

by Anonymousreply 17January 30, 2022 12:17 PM

My Camry XLE is 2007.

by Anonymousreply 18January 30, 2022 12:19 PM

I’ll say one thing, that was the last good looking Camry cause the ones afterward went off the deep end with that ugly ass Predator face.

by Anonymousreply 19January 30, 2022 12:24 PM

Congrats, OP!!

by Anonymousreply 20January 30, 2022 12:34 PM

And Toyota's corporate cousin, Lexus,. has the same ugly ass Predator face, R19.

by Anonymousreply 21January 30, 2022 12:35 PM

R19- Exactly. I was considering a new Camry but Consumer Reports said the 2019 Camry's engine and transmission did not run smoothly and according to to CA the reliability went down a bit for the new generation Camry. My 2017 is supposed to be extremely reliable and the engine and transmission shift very smoothly. I also did not like the styling on the new Camry so all of those things made me decide to buy a used one but with very low mileage.

by Anonymousreply 22January 30, 2022 2:44 PM

I treat myself to new cars because I have no one to leave my money to. I’m set up for retirement, and probably won’t live to 70 or much past it. So I treat myself to new cars.

by Anonymousreply 23January 30, 2022 2:48 PM

R23- Perhaps you should also treat yourself to NEW rent boys.

by Anonymousreply 24January 30, 2022 2:52 PM

Thoroughly agree R23. I want to die with no money left and am genetically unlikely to live past 75. My worst fear is dying with a ton of unspent money having scrimped and saved working in a miserable job for decades. Though it’s hard to ignore the unending paranoia created by Wall Street to get people to have millions in their 401ks - which they will so kindly hold for you - I actually fear wasting my years working and scrimping than being 85 and broke.

by Anonymousreply 25January 30, 2022 2:53 PM

Are you offering, R24?

by Anonymousreply 26January 30, 2022 2:54 PM

R17- You spent a LOT of money on a vehicle you consider boring. Those Audi's generally cost about $60,000. My Camry might be boring or considered boring but it's half the price or even less than your Audi.

by Anonymousreply 27January 30, 2022 2:55 PM

R27- Not remotely wealthy but do alright. I have found a way to drive pretty cool cars since I was 19. From Range Rovers to Porsche to Mercedes. I have never driven a vehicle this utterly boring. The interior is boring. The exterior is alright. I had never driven one- liked the Q7 much better, but I felt in these uncertain times $1000.00 lease is ridiculous.

I leased this thing- I have generally bought in the past.

And got your point-I am shocked at how much this car costs- it is utterly basic (I have the Premium Package with good B&O sound system). And the all wheel drive (New England) is no better than any other I have driven.

Never again. You are much smarter than I , and Toyota and Hondas have always been good vehicles.

The one thing I like! lol. At night when you open the doors it has that thing that shines the Audi 4 rings logo on the ground. It looks cool.

I'm a doofus.

by Anonymousreply 28January 30, 2022 3:04 PM

R28- My friend bought an Audi Q- I went for a ride in it and saw the Audi rings light up the ground at night- a nice touch. It was a very nice vehicle. I was impressed but if I was to buy a luxury vehicle it would probably be a Lexus.

by Anonymousreply 29January 30, 2022 3:10 PM

I didn't like the ride on a friend's Audi; yet the wheels are a sensible size and he didn't specify the sport pack. It thuds and thunders over the poor sections of the M25 like it's poorly damped.

I don't think they sell the Toyota Camry over here. I haven't seen one in many years.

by Anonymousreply 30January 30, 2022 3:14 PM

I meant to say it was an Audi Q5.

by Anonymousreply 31January 30, 2022 3:16 PM

Camrys, the favourites of taxi drivers. Yes, usually a reliable investment. Toyota are Repugs though.

by Anonymousreply 32January 30, 2022 3:19 PM

R32- That's one thing I don't like- EVERY ca. 2017 Camry I see in Manhattan has a TL&C on their license plates. It is THE perfect Uber car.

by Anonymousreply 33January 30, 2022 3:25 PM

Here is an exciting video to watch for all you dl queens who daydream about owning a 2017 Toyota Camry LE.

Offsite Link
by Anonymousreply 34January 30, 2022 3:28 PM

Actually I think the kid doing the above video is a queen. He has what could be described as a GAY accent. You see even this young gay boy approves of the 2017 Toyota Camry.

by Anonymousreply 35January 30, 2022 3:34 PM

Oh, and I have the 6-CD changer you don't, and a less stupid-looking grill.

by Anonymousreply 36January 30, 2022 3:47 PM

You drive a car from a country where they blur dicks in porn.

by Anonymousreply 37January 30, 2022 4:48 PM

^ How's the 8-Track in it, pretty good?

by Anonymousreply 38January 30, 2022 4:48 PM

R23 70 is not that old. Why don't you think you'll live to that or beyond?

OP, a Camry is a fine car - but nothing for anyone - especially car people - to get excited or jealous over. it's a Basic Bitchmobile. It will get you where you are going, but no one is going to stop you in the parking lot to talk about how much they admire that ride.

by Anonymousreply 39January 30, 2022 5:00 PM

R39- Car People- are people who buy something they don't need and can't afford.

by Anonymousreply 40January 30, 2022 5:08 PM

^ Bull shit! Car people are into cars like some are into fashion or decorating. Being interested in different cars and how they perform does not equal buying a car you don't need or can't afford

by Anonymousreply 41January 30, 2022 5:12 PM

R28 here- I agree with that R41. I am a car guy and have always loved cars.

My latest thing is vintage trucks. My god I love vintage trucks.

I know what R40 is saying though, I am that too! LOLLLLL..

A car is a huge waste of money and a generally depreciating asset, However right now, many used cars are paying off very well.

by Anonymousreply 42January 30, 2022 8:20 PM

^ I have no need for a truck but that new Ford Maverick is pretty sweet for the money

by Anonymousreply 43January 30, 2022 8:29 PM

R43- Isn't the Maverick the one that Ford is stopping production on!!? Its their biggest seller too. Some guy on Youtube said this

by Anonymousreply 44January 30, 2022 8:38 PM

^ No, they stopped taking orders for the rest of the year because they're so over sold Ford can't keep up

by Anonymousreply 45January 30, 2022 8:45 PM

R45- Consumer Reports gave the Ford Maverick a good review too.

by Anonymousreply 46January 30, 2022 8:46 PM

R23- Myself or the Rent boys?

by Anonymousreply 47January 30, 2022 8:48 PM

Sounds like you got a good deal on a low-mileage car, OP.

I'm into cars, but I stick with what I can comfortably afford.

by Anonymousreply 48January 30, 2022 8:59 PM

@r46, Everything I've read says Ford has a super hit with the Maverick. I've talked to a lot of guys that have gotten nicely equipped 4X4 Mavericks out the door for under $30K. That's unheard of these days

Now, if only Ford can make them

by Anonymousreply 49January 30, 2022 9:00 PM

R48- I was suspicious when I bought the car. $17,000 for a two year old Camry with only 7,000 miles on it. Maybe the car actually had 27,000 or 37,000 miles on it. The dealership I bought it from was sold to some other people. I would have no legal recourse at this point anyway. I've had no issues with the car so I can't complain. According to my research a 2017 Toyota Camry LE with only 8,500 miles would sell for about $23,000 . I guess I got a bargain.

by Anonymousreply 50January 30, 2022 9:24 PM

Hmm, R50, maybe someone did fool with the odometer. But even 37,000 miles is OK on a Toyota Camry. Just keep doing your oil changes every 6 months and pay attention to the wear on your tires. You should be able to drive that car for many years and miles to come.

by Anonymousreply 51January 30, 2022 9:27 PM

Odometers are solid state digital, they're practically impossible to mess with. Just check the CarFax report it will tell you everything done to the car and what the mileage was

by Anonymousreply 52January 30, 2022 9:32 PM

R38, How's your reading comprehension? Not good?

I care not for some random Sirius playlist. I care not for the idea of transferring my music to another device.

In case you're wondering, I have electricity and running water.

by Anonymousreply 53January 30, 2022 10:29 PM

^ Lighten-up, princess, it was a joke. I'm sure your CDs are fabulous

by Anonymousreply 54January 30, 2022 10:31 PM

R49, I'm always hesitant about first model years, even with glowing reviews. I'll wait and see if the engines blow up at 8,000 miles or if random acceleration causes accidents or whatever other weirdness might go on with a new model and new engine.

by Anonymousreply 55January 30, 2022 10:39 PM

^ I am too, but in the Maverick's case all the parts are tried and true. It has the same platform and 2.0 turbo engine from the Escape

by Anonymousreply 56January 30, 2022 10:43 PM

The hybrid Escape? All Mavericks are hybrids, right?

by Anonymousreply 57January 30, 2022 10:45 PM

R55- Consumer Reports has always said they would be cautious about buying a ALL NEW vehicle or one that has just been redesigned because it can take two or three model years to work at the kinks.

by Anonymousreply 58January 30, 2022 10:46 PM

My 2017 Camry LE was the LAST year for that design. So hopefully that will bode well for me.

by Anonymousreply 59January 30, 2022 10:47 PM

@r57, both hybrid and turbo are available and both from the Escape, but the hybrid is next to impossible to get because of demand

by Anonymousreply 60January 30, 2022 10:48 PM

Why can't Toyota make better looking cars? Honda has improved a little lately but both of their cars are boring looking.

I also wish they'd start making more cars in colors other than black, white, grey, and silver. That's like 95% of the cars for sale. The dealers think that's what's popular but that would be hard to tell if you never offer anything other than those colors. I love the unique colors but they are few and far between anymore.

by Anonymousreply 61January 30, 2022 10:51 PM

^ Beats me as good as Toyotas and Hondas are they're just so generic

by Anonymousreply 62January 30, 2022 10:54 PM

R61- I don't think I could EVER buy a luxury car because the only are available in Leather or Leatherette. I HATE those. I cannot own a car that does not have cloth seats. Back in 1979 even a Mercedes could be ordered with cloth seats- I found photos from an old Mercedes brochure from 1979 online.

by Anonymousreply 63January 30, 2022 10:55 PM

I'm guessing Toyota makes most of its money from the Tacoma and Tundra trucks. Those things are hugely popular and surprisingly expensive. But yes, they should pay more attention to the sedans (design, look, colors).

by Anonymousreply 64January 30, 2022 11:17 PM

R64- Their ALL new Sequoia looks swank.

by Anonymousreply 65January 30, 2022 11:18 PM

@r64, I think the #1 selling Toyota is the RAV4 followed by the Corolla and Camry, at least it used to be

by Anonymousreply 66January 30, 2022 11:26 PM

You guys are right. But I was right about the Tacoma truck.

[quote] According to year-to-date (YTD) sales figures, the Japanese automaker had five cars on the top 10 list of best-selling models so far. The Toyota RAV4, Camry, Corolla, Highlander, and Tacoma models all achieved impressive sales compared to other competitors in their class.

Offsite Link
by Anonymousreply 67January 30, 2022 11:30 PM

R66- The Toyota Camry was Toyota's best selling model for MANY years but people have been switching to SUVs for a long time now and the RAV4 is now their best selling model. They sell over 400,000 of them a year in the U.S.

by Anonymousreply 68January 30, 2022 11:31 PM

It's very nice, op, and should give you years of service.

by Anonymousreply 69January 30, 2022 11:32 PM

Thank you R69. You are a gentleman and a scholar.

by Anonymousreply 70January 30, 2022 11:34 PM

I am a terrible car snob, and I will admit it. I will not drive a Camry. I work in the design world and want something that everyone else doesn't have. Op is likely far smarter than me. I like to find cars that never sold well, but have a solid rep. I was a fan of even the Bangle butt BMW wagons, Had those for years. Partly it was an awesome car (A station wagon is far superior to any SUV, in my opinion.) I wasn't ready to fall into suburban stodginess with a Mercedes wagon, the only big ones brought into the US. Outside of Buick, The Regal wagon is a rebadged Opel, so a Euro wagon in disguise. I threw caution to the wind and bought the last year of the Volvo C30 hatches. Fun little car, but I am sitting on the ground and no room. I get compliments on it all the time cause few have seen them in the wild. Yes, I keep a truck handy.

by Anonymousreply 71January 31, 2022 12:01 AM

R71!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! NO WAY!!!!!! The first 2 sentences and my heart started beating fast because I was feeling every word- And its you man!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

by Anonymousreply 72January 31, 2022 12:03 AM

^ Did I just witness a car orgasm?

by Anonymousreply 73January 31, 2022 12:06 AM

[quote] A station wagon is far superior to any SUV, in my opinion.

R71, I like station wagons as well. Why, in your opinion, though, are they better than SUVs? TIA.

by Anonymousreply 74January 31, 2022 12:07 AM

Heh. I know your writing style by now. Glad it seems you're doing well. (Glad you sold the damn house.)

by Anonymousreply 75January 31, 2022 12:08 AM

R74- THIS is the the kind of Station Wagon that gives ME a car ORGASM.

Offsite Link
by Anonymousreply 76January 31, 2022 12:11 AM

R74, I don't understand the obsession with height off the road. I enjoy being connected to the road. Whenever I have had to borrow a friend's SUV? they seem never really connected and vaguely tippy if going over a certain speed. I enjoy twisty turny back roads. My wagons could accept the challenge. An X5, forget about it.

by Anonymousreply 77January 31, 2022 12:11 AM

Fucking Volvo 240 DL's all the way man!!!!!!!!!!!!

Did I ever tell you that during my "dark time" post recession in 2009 I purchased a STUNNING Mercedes Wagon- 1993 Wagon. I was like SHIT. This thing is a stunning classic- It makes me feel like the late 80's- class, amazing design- I will take the repairs as it comes. LOL

The fucking tie rod IMPLODED in downtown Portsmouth NH and left a massive GASH in the ground. If that would have happened on the highway I would probably be dead. lol

32 years old and it feels like yesterday.

STILL LOVE WAGONS- and seriously considered that super cool Audi Wagon- I don't even remember now man. Whats the model? Audi's are overrated as fuck.

You never judge my fucked up posts either. And you probably know about my disastrous house purchase.

I think I am just a very young looking (for 44) POSER renter who drives a chill car and never ends up MAKING IT. I just can't get THERE. Yet people think I have. But I just MISSED THAT SHIT!

Its hard to believe in 16 years I will be 60. No amount of sunscreen can stop this freight train, can't it?

So I ride on, I ride on- like the Black Swan.

by Anonymousreply 78January 31, 2022 12:14 AM

It's certainly a classic, R76. Monsters on the highway. I remember when I was a teen we had one from the late 80s. You never knew how fast you were going. But it wasn't super capable at cornering.

by Anonymousreply 79January 31, 2022 12:16 AM

Not jealous at all. Very glad for you.

by Anonymousreply 80January 31, 2022 12:19 AM

There's only one wagon...

"You think you hate it now, wait 'til you drive it"

Offsite Link
by Anonymousreply 81January 31, 2022 12:19 AM

The Griswold's station wagon was "metallic pea" in color.

Anyway, IMO, ppl like SUVs b/c of road visibility and bad backs. My car is low and when my back is not feeling good, I understand why people don't like low cars. (Hard to get into a low car with back pain.)

by Anonymousreply 82January 31, 2022 12:22 AM

Try a Volvo. It's like a hug, R82. Virginia the Volvo is sporty, so we call her Ginny. She's insouciant. Damn good seats.

by Anonymousreply 83January 31, 2022 12:24 AM

And Tom- I like that name for you. Tom from CT- Do you like the Porsche Macan? The 2022 is very sleek.

I turned in my Cayenne at end of lease- and SOLD IT to the Audi dealership because it ended up being worth far more than the payoff. They gave me a check for 20K. No joke. I was going to buy the thing and realized how much it was worth.

I am planning to ditch this boring Audi for a Macan, I suspect it will take 12 months to get the thing.

Or A Range Rover Sport.

I owned a 2007 Range Rover HSE that was like a YACHT- What a stunner. Best vehicle I have ever driven- despite being made of glue and confetti underneath. A Range Rover is like the most beautiful piece of garbage ever.

Anyway. OP- I like your style and I wish you the best experience ever.

And you brought me back to my car loving TOM!!!

He was going to fix a closet from a shitbox home I rented in 2019, that had no doors- It was around an 8 foot closet. I kept my fashions in it-Thom Browne and a few others. That shirt is still in plastic. I need to sell it.

And my shit box now is like 3 tiers down from that shit box.

Anyway OP, thanks for bringing me back to my old friend, he appears when I most need it.

by Anonymousreply 84January 31, 2022 12:26 AM

R78, I am 5 years older. You've tried big things and made mistakes, but you also were smart and knew how to correct. I admire what you've tried to do. And your posts are so specifically in your voice, it makes me laugh. I know we would be friends in real life.

by Anonymousreply 85January 31, 2022 12:28 AM

I would say anything but a Range Rover, Mister NH. If you are unfamiliar with Doug DeMuro, please watch his hilarious YouTube videos on why CarMax no longer grants extended warranties to Range Rovers. (Spoiler? His Range Rover repairs cost more than what he paid and Carmax had to eat the costs.)

by Anonymousreply 86January 31, 2022 12:33 AM

I haven't bought a used car for about two decades. With cars getting 200,000 miles now, what is considered the maximum mileage that is acceptable in general? I know that will vary across makes and models but I'm checking reliability ratings and avoiding all the shit as much as possible. Last time I looked, I wouldn't go over 35,000 miles because bigger shit usually started going wrong in the 40,000 mile range. How about now? Any of the car afficianados on here have any thoughts on that?

by Anonymousreply 87January 31, 2022 12:34 AM

Yes Tom- I also like the name Jack too. I never wanted out of a place so badly in my life. It felt like death. The first Saturday morning I woke up in that place- I said. This is NOT happening. And by Tuesday it was listed and sold within 48 hours.

I was like If this is what being a responsible and mature adult feels like, I would rather be dead.

I have always been kind of spiritual and really into law of attraction. But it has rarely worked, Until then. It was so inherent in me that THIS was not my home, that it was done. Very quickly. It really fucked with my head that I could do make such a big mistake.

I think about it daily and I don't know why it feels so dark.

Anyway! I am hijacking this lovely OP's thread. And I know that I will see you again, buddy.

by Anonymousreply 88January 31, 2022 12:36 AM

Dan! Jon! Max!

Dan!

by Anonymousreply 89January 31, 2022 12:37 AM

Bud!

No its Dan,

by Anonymousreply 90January 31, 2022 12:37 AM

I really ended up loving Porsches. So no Range Rovers, Dan.

by Anonymousreply 91January 31, 2022 12:38 AM

Close. Also, change the oil as specified and check fluids and air pressure. Most modern cars taken care of will last 200k.

by Anonymousreply 92January 31, 2022 12:39 AM

Joe!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

by Anonymousreply 93January 31, 2022 12:41 AM

Its Joe!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

by Anonymousreply 94January 31, 2022 12:42 AM

And OP- I love the Camry and you.

by Anonymousreply 95January 31, 2022 12:42 AM

[quote] Last time I looked, I wouldn't go over 35,000 miles because bigger shit usually started going wrong in the 40,000 mile range. How about now? Any of the car afficianados on here have any thoughts on that?

Not an afficianado, but I think 35,000 is OK. I've taken really good care of all of my cars and whoever had them after me was lucky, IMO. (Oil changes, fixed things as needed.)

Bigger shit, meaning what? A new engine?

If you like a car, take it to a mechanic and pay him $100 or whatever to diagnose potential problems.

by Anonymousreply 96January 31, 2022 12:44 AM

Virtual bear hugs to Mister New Hampshire.

by Anonymousreply 97January 31, 2022 12:44 AM

Jesus Christ. Okay Jim. I will figure this out

:)

by Anonymousreply 98January 31, 2022 12:46 AM

One day soon I am just going to post my Instagram for my buddy and be done. It reveals very little about me other than where I live, my face, and that I love deer, nature, and Krispy Kremes. They have left New England though. Krispy Kremes are dead to us now.

by Anonymousreply 99January 31, 2022 12:56 AM

I was a Southern sort myself for a while. Krispy Kremes are overrated. If you want donuts, a cinnamon cake is where it's at. My sister was told to take her time getting to work on Fridays in the city of she would stop and pick up these donuts on her way in. Is there a spot to meet up we could figure out? Sure the DL would know.

by Anonymousreply 100January 31, 2022 1:01 AM

Why don't you two go fuck off to your own special thread?

by Anonymousreply 101January 31, 2022 1:04 AM

R101. Just leave us alone for a second.

NO WAY!!!!!I LOVE CINNAMON. CINNAMON MUFFINS. CINNAMON SWIRL POUND CAKE. CINNAMON.

Joe, go listen to Tori Amos's Swim To New York State.

Its the most pretty and beautiful song she has ever done (And I dig gangsta hardcore Tori live shit- where she tells everyone to eat her pussy)

Well this song is like the end of a movie. Like where everything ends up just perfectly and all of life's answers came to you and you found everything ever wanted.

I listen to this album endlessly when I walk along the ocean and I want you to hear it.

And know that I dig you. And will never look at Camry's the same way! XOXOXOXO

by Anonymousreply 102January 31, 2022 1:18 AM

Joe- Krispy Kremes came to New England in 2005-2006 in Boston and NH/MA through these random little shoppes. I will need to google it. It was bananas. And I fucking fell in love with them. I am a vegetarian but substitute that with sugar.

They failed hardcore.

Then, in 2017 or so? They came back!!! Some Krispy Kreme franchisee brought them back! (I actually tried to earn their business in my line of work)

Anyway, after a year or 2 they failed miserably again. They closed around the beginning of Covid.

I do not think that Krispy Kreme will ever return.

Fuck Dunkin Donuts and their HORRIBLE coffee that tastes like dirt.

It’s a damned shame that sedans are not selling anymore. I hate SUVs and crossover vehicles so much. There’s maybe two that are interesting to me. The rest of them all look like different versions of each other.

by Anonymousreply 108January 31, 2022 1:32 AM

Sorry, here's the special thread for the 2 posters.

Thanks R 107. Jim, I'll someday send you my Insta.

I just have to mentally prepare for these fuckers to be so mean to me,

But I'm doing it!

by Anonymousreply 111January 31, 2022 1:34 AM

R109- That's so cool, Thank you.

by Anonymousreply 112January 31, 2022 1:35 AM

^ @r109, gave you your own thread... GO!

by Anonymousreply 113January 31, 2022 1:36 AM

Anyway... Camrys are good dependable cars, enjoy your ride, OP

by Anonymousreply 114January 31, 2022 1:38 AM

They are OP. And Hondas. And hell, Hyundais have become awesome too-

These carmakers have made some really cool vehicles.

by Anonymousreply 115January 31, 2022 1:40 AM

R108- I agree. They've phased out really some very good cars like the Ford Fusion , Chevrolet Impala and after this model year the Toyota Avalon. I much prefer cars over SUVs, Pick Up Trucks, Crossovers and Minivans.

by Anonymousreply 116January 31, 2022 1:47 AM

Supposedly, you can find sedans even now with the shortage because everyone wants SUVs and crossovers but that has not been my experience. They are gouging on all the prices, even the cars no one supposedly wants.

by Anonymousreply 117January 31, 2022 1:49 AM

Why not use a real pic of your car, OP? Why deceive with a marketing shot.

by Anonymousreply 118January 31, 2022 2:06 AM

^ It's a Camry everyone knows what they look like

by Anonymousreply 119January 31, 2022 2:08 AM

[quote] Why can't Toyota make better looking cars?

They can. Last summer I bought a Venza Hybrid, which is based on the Japan market Toyota Harrier (so there are some quirky things about it).

It’s easily the best looking Toyota they current sell, and the interior has a premium feel to the design that makes it more like a Lexus. Finally, it easily gets over 40MPG which is crazy for a mid-size SUV, and it’s pretty quick too!

2022 grigio Maserati Trofeo. Waiting for delivery.

by Anonymousreply 121January 31, 2022 2:16 AM

@r120, it's also about $40K so it should look nice

by Anonymousreply 122January 31, 2022 2:42 AM

@r121, For a $110K I hope it comes with it's own mechanic, because you're going to need one

by Anonymousreply 123January 31, 2022 2:45 AM

150K.

by Anonymousreply 124January 31, 2022 3:06 AM

^ Still need a mechanic

by Anonymousreply 125January 31, 2022 3:13 AM

R125- Someone said once that FIAT stands for Fix It Again Tony- Italian cars including Maserati's are all pieces of JUNK. French cars are rubbish too.

by Anonymousreply 126January 31, 2022 4:03 AM

^ Of all the Italian cars Maserati is probably the worst

by Anonymousreply 127January 31, 2022 4:05 AM

It was a joke, dudes.

by Anonymousreply 128January 31, 2022 4:08 AM

^ Ok

Hahahahaha!

by Anonymousreply 129January 31, 2022 4:11 AM

OP - Car people are people like me - I have two luxury cars - one new and one antique.

Both were paid for in cash.

Jealous bitch?

by Anonymousreply 130January 31, 2022 4:13 AM

^ I always pay cash for my cars, so no, not that jealous, but it's good you can pay cash

by Anonymousreply 131January 31, 2022 4:15 AM

R130- I love OLD cars especially from the early 60's and earlier- but only American cars

by Anonymousreply 132January 31, 2022 4:16 AM

Do you like the Toyota Avensis?

by Anonymousreply 133January 31, 2022 4:18 AM

R133- We don't have the Toyota Avensis in the United States.

by Anonymousreply 134January 31, 2022 4:22 AM

@r132, Mid-50s to late 60s are my favorite as well. There was a lot of horsepower and style to those cars that safety and economy killed in the 70s

by Anonymousreply 135January 31, 2022 4:28 AM

R134 Oops. What about the Toyota Prius. Electric not your bag?

by Anonymousreply 136January 31, 2022 4:30 AM

R134- I sat in that car once at a Toyota dealership but it didn't have enough leg room but that was ca. 2011. I think the newer Priuses have more front leg room. I'm 6ft 2in so it's not easy to find cars that have sufficient front leg room. When I was a kid in the 1970's big American cars were everywhere and had lots of room but I was only a kid then so it was not an issue then.

by Anonymousreply 137January 31, 2022 4:35 AM

Sorry my response was meant for you R134.

by Anonymousreply 138January 31, 2022 4:37 AM

I'm spaced out tonight. My response is for R137 NOT R134.

by Anonymousreply 139January 31, 2022 4:38 AM

You missed again but it's okay, we all know what post you meant!

by Anonymousreply 140January 31, 2022 4:40 AM

I am R137, R138 and R139 and my R137 response was meant for R136

I'm getting a headache.

by Anonymousreply 141January 31, 2022 4:41 AM

The Toyota Avalon seems like a nice car. I guess I have to grab one now since this the last model year for the Avalon. I'm not buying anything. With my 2017 Toyota Camry LE I have sufficient.

R17, the maintenance costs for Porsche SUVs are even higher than they are for Audi, no? I was going to get a new Q5 for my next car. I don't mind 'boring' too much as long as it does what it's supposed to do.
