Has anyone else seen “The Daytrippers”?

I revisited it last night. Soooo good. I miss independent movies like this one. Parker Posey is so good in it. Everyone is really.

Yes I loved that movie

We watched on New Year’s Eve and loved it.

Anne Meara nearly stole the show.

One of my favorite movies. Loved Marcia Gay Harden’s little part.

Loved it. Love Love Love it. One of my favorite movies. Terribly underrated and underappreciated. A movie that so many people have unfortunately missed.

The scene with Stanley Tucci and Hope Davis on the sidewalk after she finds him on the roof is a great example of the huge talent of Tucci - in just a three minute (or so) scene - he is brilliant.

The entire movie is a feast for people that love great acting by great - if underrated - actors.

Bumping this thread because this is kind of a Thanksgiving film and I just watched it tonight.

What a gem!

Siskel and Ebert, the doyennes of modern culture gave it

TWO BIG THUMBS DOWN

by Anonymousreply 6November 29, 2024 8:35 AM

The scene on the rooftop is great the way Hope Davis observes Stanley Tucci dancing with Sandy.

One of my all time favorites. I’ve recommended it to so many people. It’s just a wonderful little film.

I saw it for a the first time a few months ago when I was trying to watch all of Parker Posey's 90s movies. It's has a great cast and is pretty funny. Plus you get to see NYC in the 90s which is always nice.

People, PLEASE try not to give away major plot points in your comments.

PLEASE...for those that haven't ever seen the movie being discussed. It happens in threads every time we discuss a movie.

I'm convinced people do it on purpose.

Liev is so hunky cute here.

by Anonymousreply 12November 30, 2024 5:31 AM

You should assume that any thread about a 30 year old movie will contain spoilers r11. It's not a conspiracy to make you unhappy.

by Anonymousreply 13November 30, 2024 5:39 AM

Douglas McGrath is funny too as Chap, the book editor.

by Anonymousreply 14November 30, 2024 5:41 AM

I love that movie; they were all so believable as a bickering family trapped in a car together.

by Anonymousreply 15November 30, 2024 5:42 AM

Anne Meara's Brooklyn accent is so thick here.

by Anonymousreply 16November 30, 2024 5:44 AM

R13

Very funny. I hardly think it's being done to annoy me, and you know that.

I'm thinking of other people that haven't seen the movies YET. Even 30 year old movies, or older. Like that one with the sled. Any movie thread - no matter HOW old - doesn't have to have spoilers, and when they do, people kindly mark them as spoilers before you will read them.

Easy peazy.

by Anonymousreply 17November 30, 2024 1:18 PM

R17. SPOILER: Adam and Eve get cast out of the Garden of Eden.

by Anonymousreply 18November 30, 2024 1:52 PM

There is a funny moment when Anne Meara tries out speed-dial on Stanley Tucci's office phone. She has seen it on Matlock, I think. She dials and Hope Davis answers on a phone nearby. Then Anne chastises her with, What is the matter with you?!

by Anonymousreply 19December 2, 2024 11:47 PM

I've seen it and really enjoyed it. Much better than Clockwatchers.
